Phew, and a while back I thought I'm the only one that like Multicore - Supported.

let me guess, something like the Hyberspace in Homeworld but you actually see the ship going through?
@Earth - I am strongly against any combat in phased space as it will muddle up the game mechanics as well as look pretty horrid in the current system. Moreover the AI will likely be unable to cope effectively with it. If it is allowed then you would in effect have full free space tactics. It's a random idea that pop up in my head since I'm still not clear on how the system work. So in effect the Space Phase is like a tunnel connect o
Kinda, but once ships are on/in the Phase Lane, they can't be pulled out of it until they reach their destination gravity well. So, the massive voids between gravity wells don't really play a part in the game...but they are still there. Cool, eh? Oh, so by Phase Space interdiction you mean prevent a ship from entering Phase Space at all, rather then intercept it once it's already there? And what do you mea
The game only has 1 map. Players can focus on different parts of the map and zoom in and out. That means that there are no portals. So, Phase Lanes are kinda like Space Highways where ships travel to and from gravity wells that are connected. As it is, there is Phase Space Interdiction. Facilities can be built that stop enemy ships from leaving/escaping into these Phase Lanes. Hum, in a way t
Actually, I've heard several times that Homeworld was originally going to be a Battlestar Galactica game, but for some reason it didn't work out so they created their own storyline. seriously ? thats pretty cool if its true? Will you be surprise that Starcraft was originally planed as a Warhammer40000 game? Something didn't w
I have a question how the Phase Lane is used. Does it act like 2 portals, a ship enter from this side and after a while appears on the other side? Or it's actually a tunnel in which the ship travels through? Since it can be interesting if it's the latter and a phase space interception is possible.
7000/1500 infrastructure? I'm betting Ironclad will want to see that... Hey ... doesn't it sound a little similar to one of the old bug in Dread Lord? (After an invasion the population on a planet just suddenly sky rocket).
Perhaps there should be a way of manually setting priority like in Pacific Storm A little more sotisphicated then that though, the resource transport priority is rarely done right in PS. Iremember on Red Faction 2 the you could customize every bit of the bots to make them harder smarter ect ect the more often you fought against them. That kind of system would be great for this game.
PT boats are not ships. That's a refenrence to why you want to put PDS on a scout. and no, a light cruiser cannot outurn a torpedo. do you realize how long it takes those ships to turn? I'm not talking about battlecruiser or armored cruiser, the modern missile cruiser is faster then you think. no wait... apparently not. (sorry, had to do that part)<
how many of our naval craft are capable of doing that... none. None. So, a PT boat will not be able to outrun and outturn a torpedo? A destroyer or Frigate are acutally not able to out turn a torpedo? Eh ... Even a light cruiser should be able to out turn a torpedo. And then, they actually put a pair of MK17 Phalanx and a pai
So by purchasing with tokens I can still get into Beta 1 and start playing now? Correct. One beta tester coming right up And yeah .... (Y.E.S!)
also keep in mind that all of your flak frigs will have this, possibly another type of frigate, maybe even your scouts. I never said all frig should have this. In fact, I think it's repeated many times that a PDS on Large ships ... placing it on a fighter ... what's for? You're making it out of proportion. PDS is used to defense target that generally big and high priority, and relative poor manuever. Heh, I hope a scout can out run or out turn a tor
Supreme Commander, on the other hand is great in my opinion. Well it could have been better in some ways. But im kinda playing almost every day. Completed all the missions except a few mission on the UEF. Well to be honest, the missions could have been abit longer. Eh ... I wish there were more mission but each of them are actually shorter, if anything some of the missions in Supcom are too damn long.
everyone so its free? no, when you pro-order you will need to pay, and when beta2 arrives you will get charged and you get a key. But if you want to join now, you should contact [email protected] What do you mean? If we contact Stardoc
By the way, I just read the gamespot's interview with Blair Fraser: There is no special dual-core code and the Iron Engine does not yet support DirectX 10, though we are considering adding these features postrelease. . And while it's not exactly in-game ship design, we have gone to great lengths to make it very easy to mod new ships with custom graphics, weapons, and functionality. So
I'm having trouble finding where either one of us is being aggressive... a little sarcastic perhaps but... well if I said anything offensive, I didnt mean it that way By aggressive, I just mean your post seems to be ticky in a way, like this example you're gonna have difficulty making up the credibility. Well, but I never claim credibility, simply a disagreement <img src="http://image
(Disclaimer: I'm not saying or implying this is going to be in the game.) Instead of creating a whole new CPU intensive system for PDLs, it would probably be easier to just go with a BSG dynamic and have a cap ship's fighter squadron (if it had one) take out incoming missiles. Having ship chasing down warhead could be fun. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 a
the physical differences, but not the actual core differences. list those for me, will you? if you're PDS takes down half the shots, yes, thats statistically like having 100% more armor. they serve the exact same function and fyi, as far as I've modded, the only real difference between shield and armor is the refresh rate. so having as much shielding as armor would be just about as good as doubling your armor if they refresh similarly <
they serve identicle purposes, except one uses limited ammo where the other a limited energy supply. By this logic, then there isn't any difference between having a shield and an extra layer of armor, or hell, just double the ship HP. After all, its purpose is to increase the ship endurance and how many damage it can absorb before it goes boom boom. And yes, PDS is also a defense system, at least its mechanic is different. Shield and armor deci
That said, there are some technologies in the research tree which, while not actual PDS, achieve akin to the same result via shield improvements. this is another beautiful point. what is a shield if not the ultimate PDS net? Well, I can understand why you're praising it so much But I think it's quite obvious the two system are not the same
Since DirectX 10 is only ever planned to be available to Windows Vista users, it's not something we're going to require or build toward at this time. Talk about limiting your potential market, yeesh. I know a few games that will support Vista natively by the end of the year, I don't think
Hold onto your hats folks, I'm agreeing with Schem (I dig the sig graphic, btw). PDS is a pretty cool concept, however, as Schem stated it's not practical for a game where you're talking about potentially hundreds of ships in a single conflict in real-time. It would be a huge strain on CPU resources
Sorry, but this is a point I would argue because your reality check fail, completely. Dual core processors have been standalizing for around a year already, right now it's at the point that the people who have dual core are no longer the elite, but the people who refuse to accept it are just playing refusal. Just like one gig of ram, or a 128MB Video card, 2 years ago those are stuffs of the elite, nowaday they're conside
Not if Sins is built with a native multi cores supported sorry to give you a reality check, but most people do not have multicores , and I doubt IC will ruin 70% of their sales for the elitists. This post will have little to do with the topic but: Sorry, but this is a point I would argue because your reality check fail, completely . Dual core processo
