How do mods in general affect save games? Can I take my post game completion save, turn on some mods, and go adventuring? Does that bake the mod configuration into sequential saves I make? I am trying to get a general feel for how/when I should use mods.

These patch notes should be pushed into the update history on steam. I had no idea there was a hotfix except someone mentioned it in passing on reddit. Also, those changes sound great. Thank you! How is a worthless planet been made more worthless? Fewer low value resources?

Progress: Landed on several planets. Got the moon cannon. Made first contact; reported back to Star Control. What I Loved: The first 30 minutes feel like Star Control. Tune, story, soundtrack, gameplay all feel right. Awesome! Smart zooming during solar exploration works well. I was originally worried I would not be able to see where I was going but that ended up not being an issue.

I've also started my own replay of SC2. I've found the following to be relevant to SC:R so far... SC:R really needs to track what useful information the aliens have provided to you. I had forgotten how often the aliens in SC2 just flatout hint where important locations/races are. Even if this information is on a star cluster rumor level, the game should track that information and let the player know if they've explored that information yet. <

I'm a bit concerned about the lost of the screen wrap. Many of the SC races relied on slingshoting and higher speeds that might not feel right without screen wrap. However, the more complicated gravity situation sounds like a good idea. I'll eagerly await the prototype for this. :) IMO, additional terrain features and interactions could add depth to the combat. Star Trek is filled of examples where the space terrain made the difference in an engagement.
