Im not so much talking about micro management (which yes does need to be held in check) but having 9999999999999999999999999999 money and 99999999999999999999999999999 resources! (In other words unlimited power! In Dominions III there are options to cut money, resource, gem production in half which really helps with the giant maps! Helps to slow things down!

The problem with most games is that the settings are always built for small maps. When you create large maps things grow out of control! Money, cities, resouces just start piling up like crazy. Make sure there are options that can reduce the growth of these say 25%-50% so things can slow down. This is a necessity with empire building games such as this!
Quoting Paradoxnt, reply 19 I actually favor the 'Channeler dies = lose the game' concept. It will certainly make players bond with their 'avatars' and improve game immersion. ... As an option for those who would share your (very valid) conception of bonding & immersion. In some of my games, I could choose to experience that kind of bonding & immersion, and then, your "concept" would appl
Quoting pigeonpigeon, reply 18 Quoting Demiansky, reply 16 I know it sounds spiffy and novel to have the game end when the channeler dies, but I think this will be fatal to the game. The biggest problem with the original Age of Wonders is the ease of which the game promptly ended. You would walk into a dungeon or take a wrong turn and be up to your nose in enemies, even if you were proceedi

I definitely choose Camp 1: Sophisticated! I agree with all the others that if Camp 2 is so simple just make it an option for all of those that dont want to deal with more strategy. Matrix Games Crown of Glory has this option: Advanced Economy or Simple Economy Why not both!? Everyone's Happy! [e digicons]|-)[/e] Plus it would be cool to be able to play the game differently once in a while! Would increase the playability!
What it comes down to is this: People dont play MP to play the computer. We can put the saved time into a better in-game AI, but developing the external bot architecture, just to have people complain that they end up playing AI in MP, is a waste of resources. As for the streamlined economic model, dont worry about there not being enough depth...we're floating a few systems around ,but it wont be a complete departure from what was origi
That is frickin' huge! I can't wait to try out those large maps! PS- Did Soren mention anything about Civ5?! Soren's at EA now. He just got done working on some "Spore" game. We don't know anything about a Civilization V other than hoping Firaxis is working on it. Civilization (the game) is why I became a game developer in case you're wondering just what level of worship I have fo
The time spent on playing the janitor could be used for more challenging adventures and exploration of new areas. While I agree that any game that FORCES you to grind lacks proper balancing, I would never argue at leveling-up as a CHOICE. Actually, some of my most memorable moments in gaming came from failing in a boss battle (ran from too many encounters, didn't have the proper strategy, etc), leveling-up my party, and retu

Yes please dont make us have to be Janitors with endless map cleaning! How meaningless endless grinding can be a fun positive thing I will never understand but my main point is I want a game that makes me think and use strategy with the occassional fun quest and independent battle but more grand strategy tasks that effects the world around me and does not turn me into a grinding mindless repetitive robot doing the same boring silly useless battles/tasks that have no effect on the worl

Well here is my 2 cents again. I think there should be a huge risk and a huge loss to losing your wizard. I think your empire should suffer, become disorganized, and become weaker and easier to pick off. It would become much weaker because you have lost so much power from your great wizard and the empire goes into chaos. A weak successor wizard then takes over and you have to start back all over again building their power up. I just dont think the natio

You should not be charged until the beta is made available. If you move you will need to contact [email protected] to change your information so that the sale can be processed.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 23 I do know I'd like to avoid flying units but that's personal preference. Nooo. Won't please somebody think of the flying unicorns? Anybody? But aren't dragons flying be default? Or do you just mean, every unit can be attacked at mellee, even flying ones? I'm confused (and flying-unicorn-less). [/q
