I use a USB optical drive to play StarForce games Is that to keep StarForce off your system? If so, does it work?? I would have thought it (SF) would have been installed on your hard drive anyway? I could well be wrong, of course, but personally I'd run a rootkit finding program just in case!

First day of SR2 yesterday - started play about 2pm, did the training missions, carried on for a bit then ended up in a bad part of the galaxy and couldn't escape some powerful pirates. Restarted and ... finally went to bed about 4am. It's (almost) the sequel to Elite that I've always wanted. With great music. Now with luck I'll get a couple more hours SR2 before the wife gets home from her business trip <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 AL

Looks like Drengin is correct - just had the broadband connection drop out, SDC resumed download from 18%. Edit - found the option, it's in Tools/Settings/Internet/Internet Settings - option to resume partially downloaded files. Looks like it's set to "resume" by default, which is good.

Downloading Space Rangers 2 through SDCentral (approx 16% done) I needed to shut SDC and reboot. When I restarted the SR2 download it started again from 0%. Living in the sticks I have a slow broadband connection which drops out completely occasionally - so the chances of downloading all of SR2 without another interruption are pretty slim. Is there an option in SDC to get it to resume downloading from where it left off after an interruption?

IIRC Brad said it's possible the storyline was subconciously partly "cloned" as Star Control is one of his all-time favourite games! Can't find it on search, though. A forum member also posted a link to where you can download SC legally for free. I downloaded it but haven't played it yet (too much GC2).

Yeah, NIS is a resource hog. I now use AVG antivirus, ZoneAlarm firewall and CounterSpy anti-spyware (with AdAware, SpyBot Search&Destroy and SpyWareBlaster also installed). Beware of rogue anti-spyware progs which pretend to be anti-spyware but in fact actually contain spyware themselves (scum!). MajorGeeks.com is a good resource for security software.

That's a good point - the game auto-selects ships with movement left for me too and then cycles though all others with moves left. It's weird though, sometimes the "Turn" button is green at the start of a turn, sometimes it goes green part way through a turn, most of the time it behaves correctly. As I said it's no big deal for me. At the moment I'm having much more trouble with a kitten playing with my speaker cables!

Ships that are being moved manually (that is not on autopilot), still have moves remaining, but the turn button will be green I also get this occasionally - but no big deal as I've got into the habit of always clicking "Find" before clicking "Turn". Edit - most of the time the "Turn" button works correctly.

the Xeno Farm was changed from feeding 6B to 5B in v1.3b3, apparently the text wasn't updated to reflect this I guessed that might be the case. It tends to occur around planet acquisition events Th

Couldn't find anything similar on search ... Version 1.31: Crippling A recently built Xeno Farm seemed to be producing no food - Save, restart GC2 and load, the Xeno Farm is now producing 5mt of food, though the description says it should be producing enough to feed 6billion people?
