And paying too much for a piece of land is not a stupid act? :D

Karl Denninger seems to think the only way out is to get rid of the debt and the mistrust of financial institutions. Maybe he's far out, but he manages to explain some things with better examples than I've seen anywhere else.
I think any value in luxury items is mostly in the eye of the beholder. To stick with one of Brad's examples, the diamond necklace would have no value to me, but given to my girlfriend she might think otherwise ;) Of course it represents a certain value if I take it to a jeweller. As for the original question: do we trust government to spend wisely.. I can only refer to a lot of money wasted in the netherlands over the years on large infrastructural 'enhancements' that will never be w
Some of those people must have (almost) slipped on their way to the car and still decided to start it and get on the road.. Hope you stay warm and inside until the road is safe :)
Mason, haven't got much to add, except that I feel for you, hope you manage to keep your head up. I usually read all your stuff and don't comment much, but this sucks too much to warrant no reaction - even one as feeble as this. danny
And indeed finding pieces of lyrics is a lot easier nowadays :) So did you find that last song? Could be the moment to try here if not :D
Also outside of JU, can't really comment cause by the time she joined the race I was sick of all the attention given to a foreign presidential campaign - I understand the election itself can be of consequence to the rest of the world but.. I wish the media would shut up and get some news on the damn box for a change :D But for what it's worth, from what I did see I probably wouldn't
I don't think it's intelligence, merely curiosity, that determines the amount of faith one can have. If you can't just let a unknown factor in, you'll need a lot more intelligence or time thinking to get to sleep at night.
Letting an unknown factor be the answer to all doesn't sound like curiosity to me ;) So do you mean that the more curious you are, the less amount of faith you can hold or is it the other way aro
@240 (sorry I'm a bit late...)
That's the exact wording on the box. The argument is that the EULA is nonbinding as the complete terms are not available at purchase - although they are, if the customer put even minimal effort into looking up the EULA before purchase, but that's personal responsibility and no one likes that.
Hmmmm so if I buy the game at amazon I should read the box first in the shop around the corner?
@rufnredde Of course you forget that Apple invented Unix as well ;) And Brad: I think it's time to reveal your time machine to the world, too many of these occurences and people will find out anyway :D
Well, actually, the way I interpret it is if the EULA was invalid, Blizzard basically has free reign over the user's account. The EULA tells Blizzard what it can and can't do as much as it does the user, in the "If the user does this, Blizzard can do this" sense. So if the EULA is void, there's nothing stopping Blizzard from doing whatever they please with the account, since the user has none of the rights granted to him under the EULA [/quote
"Many a long dispute among divines may be thus abridged: It is so; It is not so." ;)
You are right...everyone SHOULD love it!! However, I know of some people who saw it and didn't like it....probably not their cup of tea.
I know I won't be seeing it, but then I tend to skip all animated movies released since, well, not quite since snow white, but close :p Saves me time saying I didn't like it and others having to deal with a spoilsport :) So everyone who think it might be their cup of tea: go see it!! It seems to be pretty good from what I've heard
Hmmm, if only they'd read Scoble's advice Link
Donor-legislation was recently a hot topic in the Netherlands too, people wanting to change the current opt-in to an opt-out system, with a view that most people that hadn't registered yet just couldn't be bothered and would have decided to register if it wasn't such a hassle. An opt-out system would at least require those who didn't want to be donors to get off their butts and do something. What irked me most is that even if you registered as
Hi Brad, You've probably already seen it, but there's another product on that same site which has the pc link, and the price to go with it too Link danny
If you define torture as causing irreparable damage, playing music at 90 dB would qualify; extended exposure to 85 dB or more is baaad for the ears. At least that's what I had in my mind and a quick look around the net seems to validate that. Not saying you haven't got a point though, just careful with my ears Even extremely uncomfortable stuff is just that: uncomforta
Hey, not really the right place, but a separate volume control in soundpackager would be cool
I used to live in the same house with a guy who absolutely hated what he was studying - Marketing. The only reason he did it was because of the future pay. I used to laugh at him having to do something he hated till the day he died just to have more money. Good luck man.. On the other hand, if you're (to quote Lacamama) majoring in unemployment, you'd better be able to do someth
It might also be a self-fulfilling prophecy in that people might not want to have their children live in the world they see coming.
Something I've been wanting to be able to do for a while now is to retract my support for the candidate I voted for when he/she starts to adhere to the party line or against the party line, in general: when they start voting in a different way than I would expect them to do. I mean, that's allright if the different point of view happens to coincide with mine, but when it doesn't I feel I should be able to show I do not agree. Anyway, I think t
Brad, I think that for the radical muslim the US support for Israel will outbalance anything you can ever list. That won't be the case for most of the people you might be debating with though danny
Well considering the phone call I got from the webmaster at one of our clients who'd been on holiday for two weeks and needed to ask 'could you tell me agian, what is a link again' I'd say incompetent is too good a word
Draginol: The fact is, that European institutions seem much more militant when it's against a computer software company than against terrorist states. The EU could advocate sanctions against Iran any day it wanted. Yup, that's because they can't agree on anything other than helping europe
What I'd be interested to hear from the guy in question was what he'd do were he to gain weight As for losing interest in someone that gains a few pounds, I can sort of see where that comes from in a relationship that's still growing. He probably thinks he wouldn't have fallen for the girl if she were several pounds heavier. In fact, were someone to gain 20 pounds overnight, mos
