Example of zealotry: I did buy the OD stuff on sale two weeks ago, though I haven't used much of it yet. I wanted to give something for FE, and I was curious about the FE stuff. I wasn't going to pay $50 though. I'll probably buy the things I end up using when they go on sale in the future though, there are some good apps there. Also waiting for the client to mess around with it more. Don't like the webpage activation much.
<
From a polish/balance perspective, it is, in its current state, considerably further ahead of even WOM v1.4.
Wow! Well that is very encouraging. And more than slightly maddening as well, having to wait! LOL, but all good, the time will be well spent I'm sure.

Let's see, gonna go in a somewhat historical order, along with some thoughts on each at the time... Pong (home version) had it at my Dad's when I was a kid in the 70s, couldn't believe it. Asteroids on original Atari... kept me glued, simple game, but I was hooked. long stretch of time with no holy crap... :( I was gaming this whole time, and it was fun, but no defining moments Text adventures
quoting postMy solution was to create custom quests for each sovereign to start with. You would have to earn some of your sovereigns starting bonuses and treasures. That way the player had a motivating objective for his first 100 turns that would get him in and playing. While it might not have solved the specific dilemma that you were trying to address, I hope you kept the brilliant custom quest feature. It so

Around Thanksgiving (and it'll be after it because no one wants to be on beta babysit watch during the 4 day weekend) the first phase will go out which will be to people who joined the earliest of the WOM betas. Soon after, it will expand to everyone who was part of the WOM beta process. Soon after that, it'll expand to everyone who bought WOM by re
As has been said before their are ways to make the embarking system less cheesy so units aren't building boats to cross every lake instead of going around. If you require having a harbor on the water then you could say that the boats are just automatically sailing from the harbor to where your units are, and are not being built by the units themselves. That would also require infrastructure and you couldn't just invade other continents wit

Any chance you could throw in a fix for not seeing "goodies" on the cloth map? Just mentioned it in another thread, but seeing as you are rolling solo now, this may be the best spot for such a request. Thanks for the update by the way. Good to see you still grinding away on this!

Looking good, thanks for the update Derek! One question... has the bug where items don't always show up in the cloth map screen been eradicated. It is one of the nastier ones in my opinion. Missing things near you just because you don't want to zoom into the high detail map is very annoying, and still exists to this day in E:WoM.

Very nice, glad you are going the new route. And I'm also glad you are keeping WoM alive at the same time. It'll be nice having both WoMs different design and FEs more classical 4x design (at least that is the impression I am inferring) to choose from. Thanks for the update Brad!

Don't know if I'm missing it, but I'd love to be able to hover over a unit/city and know to which faction it belongs. Or at least when clicking on it, put the faction in as one of the details that is shown. All in all, getting better and better, still getting some crashes here and there on win7 64 bit (on two different computers, one with a GTX260 one with an ATI 5970), but nothing reproducible.

It will definitely cut down on any possible headaches.

I don't think the beta is currently open, so recent pre-orders won't get access in an email like that. The email was in response to my pre-order, 30 Sept '09. Your pre-order confirmation email makes no mention of this? That's strange, if there's no serial number in that email I'd expect there to be some mention along the line of "we'll send you another email when beta opens up
Not so with Steamworks game like Civ 5. Not only will Steam and Steamworks have to be installed, it will have to be running in the background just to play, even in offline mode. If Steamworks worked like Windows Live did for Fallout 3 or the way Impulse works I wouldn't have a problem with it. But instead it's invasive and pushes itself on me just to play a single player game. Thus I won't stand for it and I won't ev

As long as you purchased the game directly through Stardock you are good to go... if you ordered through some third-party site (I don't even know if that was available for the limited edition) then you would be out of luck. With Stardock you always have the option of downloading the game. You'll never even need to put the physical disk in your PC if you don't want to.
