I've only been playing vs AI and I'm getting ready to go online and play multi. I haven't played many of the maps at all -- is there any way to preview the layout of all of them? I downloaded Galaxy Forge for this reason, but none of the official maps' .galaxy files appear in the Open dialog. An older thread commented on that specific issue but none of the fixes in it worked. Do I basically have to start a comp stomp on every map and explore completely to see what they

I got an email today from Stardock about a $10 discount coupon inside the Gold Edition of GC2 that existing owners of GC2 can use. Since it seems like this discount is in every box of the Gold Edition but only certain people can use it, I'd like to know hwo your ownership of original GalCiv2 is determined. Not for nefarious reasons, I just can't find my box, manual, or jewel case anymore Because I would
Haha, holy jeeze, this game is wonderful in widescreen. It's so funny that the 1st game I've played on this new monitor that made me laugh out loud with joy at the picture is GC2, and not Oblivion or some FPS crap =^)
Sweeeet. I was hardcore into GC2 but then Oblivion came my way.. having gotten a bit tired of monsters that never get tougher I'm going to start playing GC2 again, especially with the new monitor!
Just acquired a Dell 2007WFP 20" wide screen, native res 1680x1050. Anybody else playing in this res and are there any weird stretching issues?
I went out and grabbed the PC version last night. I've got no prior experience of Elder Scrolls. It's pretty overwhelming-- once I got out of the sewer and started looking for the monk dude, I didn't have any advice on what to do besides follow the red arrow on the compass. I ended up spending (wasting?) like an hour clearing out this cave full of bandits, most of whom I couldn't see well enough in the dark to hit! I do have the sense that the game
what trick i do is to zoom all the way into the ship itself so you cut into the model and see the inside of the ship. There are hardpoints inside of the ship, so you can mount engines or whatever in there. You might have to rotate abit so you clip into it,. that's another one I recommend highly
Hey dude, I had a hard time designing a big, bulky Terran massive hull, the one used for the Lucky Ranger ships. One trick I found was to find centerline hardpoints on the bottom of the ship and flip them so that more of the added big boxy bulking piece is obscured by the existing ship hull. As for hiding engine parts, I'm a big fan of all the fin/paddle shapes, since enginey pieces usually have a hardpoint just outside the nozzle of each
Miniaturization and Shrinker, etc. are good thoughts... I thought of them after I posted last night. The only techs I've yet to research at this point are a few in the 6 weapon/defense lines and the tech victory line. Granted some of the ships I was expecting to see have Doom Rays, etc. and so shouldn't be available yet, but I'd say there are 4-7 classes of ship that SHOULD be in the current "Game B" a week after I created them based on techs I have researched, that are NOT. Very strange.<br/
Simple question really: I build a custom ship in Game A, played last week. I save both an equipped version with various techs and a plain hull version with nothing but extras on it. The appearance of these custom ships in Game B, a week after I designed them, seems totally unpredictable to me. I have noticed occasions where looking at specific techs in research would indicate that a previously-built custom ship will become available, so I carefully
Was working on a ship and added an extra i.e. decorative component. Didn't like it, so I click on the component on the ship model and tried to remove it. Was told I couldn't because it had other parts attached. Thought, that's odd, I just added it and haven't done anything else. So I clicked its icon in the components scroller thingie and tried to remove it -- same thing! I am 100% positive that this is not user error and that I added a component
lol u noob sp only ftw
These are some of mine, all Terran: Dropshop based on 2nd cargo hull Torpedo frigate based on 1st medium hull <img src="http://georgetown.
So no way to get .shipclass files to show up in a particular savegame? I mean, it was a short game, so I'm not gonna die if I can't use this ship right away, but it'd be nice to have the design available in future games. How does that work, exactly? I've noticed that Ship A I designed a week ago will become available at a completely different game later in time.
Thanks.... now oddly enough the .shipclass file is in my \my docs\galciv2\ships but it doesn't appear in the shipyard. Any thoughts on reintroducing it to the game? Unbelievable that you guys even respond with quick helpful replies to bitchy posts! 1.0x.1 btw.
Spent 90 minutes fiddling around creating a super cool looking new ship... game crashes on saving the design! My fault for not saving the *game* as opposed to the *design* as I was working on it, I guess, but if Word, etc. can protect my work when the application crashes, I wish GC2 would as well. DAMMIT I'm so pissed. Time to start digging through the game directory and see if anything is still there...
Ability to rotate ship components in the Ship Designer God, I hope this means you won't have to use those little attachment rotater chunks. the +90 only works back and forth so I always have to use -90, which means a ton of little pieces get stacked up, then when I
is the stellar converter! 'Nuff said. Except that sometimes you don't just want to conquer your enemies, you want a war of extermination where you destroy their very planets... I'd love to see a Death Star-type superweapon.
So why the heck would you ever want to decommission a building?! That's just a TOTAL waste of money & turns! FWIW I was playing last night and had a bunch of 30% ish happines planets with like 22B pop but only class 9-11... I had research all the way up the farms tree and it was way overpopulated. I
OK, apologies if this has been addressed, but I couldn't find a previous post. When I open the main planet/ship list and switch to a list of ships, I can't select and focus on a ship by clicking on a ship's entry in the list. What am I doing wrong? I've tried single clicking an entry, double clicking, clicking the little x in the top right corner of the ship's entry in the list. All I want to do is select the ship and focus the view on it
