Having an option to "chord" the third mouse button would be great. I've got a two button trackball, and a fancy 4-button trackball with scroll at work. The 4 button trackball rocks. The 2-button really detracts from the experience--especially when designing ships. In linux, they get around the two-button problem by assigned a virtual 3rd button when both buttons are pressed simultaneously. I'd love to see this feature. In the absence of

I've been using a technique on the campaign scenarios where I purposely put the tax rate to 0% for the first 5-10 turns. My rationale is that you make very little money off these first turns, and the huge increase in population growth boost for 100% approval pays for the lost revenue later by providing more taxpayers. Anyone else try this technique? --Brad

I started making really cheap stripped down colonizers and constructors in the beginning phases of exploration. If you aren't travelling too far, you can just slap a colony module and an engine on a cargo body and save a few bucks. Anyone else doing this? --Brad

What custom designs do you build near the beginning of the game? Here are a few I've tried: 1) Fast Colony ship Slap an engine on a colony ship to get there faster. 2) Fast scout Two engines and a basic life support tank gets there faster, but sees less. Good for locating planets. 3) Sensor tanker Fill a cargo hull up to the gills with sensors. Slowly sweep around the frontiers. The

Is there an easy way to emulate a 3 button mouse with my 2 button mouse under winxp? This is done all the time under linux by doing a "chord" 3rd button (both buttons pressed at once is equivalent to the 3rd button.) I don't have this option under windows. Anyone know how to do this? Its really a pain trying to manipulate ship building without that 3rd button. --Brad
