This even happens in single-player, so it's not a lag issue. About 10% of the time your guy will just ignore orders to use special attacks, even if the target is well within range. Give the MMO style of combat with juggling specials, cooldowns and mana, this pretty much totally borks you because you THOUGHT you'd dotted the guy and you haven't. This is made MORE amusing because often, the game will glitch with teleporting/whatever, and you'll be able to hit a target well OU
Pnakotus
Steal the q-menu too, even if it's just a 3 or 4-way choice for 'move here, threat here, need support, need assassin'. Contextual pings are always going to be better than pings.
A competitive multiplayer game aimed at the Warcraft market suffers piracy? What a surprise? :) Server-side authentication is the best way to kill this pretty much instantly. Everyone's got a profile, linked to a key, so this system is obviously flawed. It's not wrong to have robust authentication when you're doing the hosting for the tournament/etc.
Demigod is apparently aimed at the casual crowd as well as the 'serious' players, so I'm interested to see if any people miss features found in other games. Demigod has no internal voice. That's probably a network issue, given the problems games have ALREADY, but forcing noobs to rely on typing while being challenged by learning everything else is sub-optimal. This doesn't really affect more serious players, as I'm sure we've all got good at typing brief, me
It's occured to me that that username login may be what I'm -supposed- to be logging into Impulse with, and that the email-based one is depreciated (I may have inherited it from the Stardock Central days). I'd try it that way, but I'm not 100% I remember my email password. :)
Both my accounts are based on the same email address, so I doubt that's the issue. Pipja, that's wierd. Ironically I have an old email about the Stardock website (pre-Impulse) that used my email + password (just as the Impulse application does), but Demigod only worked when I put in Pnakotus + password (which are different).
Apparently it's after your 'Stardock Network login' and not your Impulse login at all. Hilarious. Impulse wants and a password, Demigod wants my username/password for the community, blogs etc. Needless to say the email associated with my Impulse community account is the same one that I log into Impulse with. How I'd 'merge' my registrations to a community account that doesn't have an email address is beyond me. :)
Frankly the quote probably isn't talking about 'multiplayer' at all, just multiverse style faction grinding.
Mines are a good thing. Most games don't have them; no game does them properly. Entrenchment gets close, but for two issues. Firstly, each mine shows up in the tree as a separate ship, which is ridiculous. It renders the tree near useless once you've dropped a few hundred mines. Even if they were a) stackable by different amounts (I'd say 50) and b) in a slightly different 'mine' colour would allow people to track what's a mine and what's a ship.
That is the funniest post in the entire world. 'It is ridiculous for services to compete, all games should be available on all services'. What is a 'corporation'? What is a 'market'? What is 'profit' or 'investment'? Hilariously, he even says 'comes from being a sysadmin', when he says that he didn't buy Crysis due to it not being on Steam. Because Steam somehow makes game installs less invasive, right? :D Steam is a fine service which has dramatically improved fr
If it's anything like Savage, it'll be a terrible, broken and unpolished game that basically sinks without a trace. The original Savage was horrible.
Let's hope they don't let Meier anywhere near it, so they can ditch the ridiculous 'tax rate rises in random increments to 99% due to outrageous cartoon king' and 'you must fight a War of Independence to win' stuff. Colonisation was much more interesting and low-level than Civ (and modern Civ games are just a sad reflection of the industry), but 1 victory condition that permeates the entire game (people loyal to the home country don't work as hard, lol) is just dumb. The War - the
The update, however, doesn't allow me to archive Reboot, although it does remove the phantom Complete icon. I own both through Stardock, and the archive of Reboot always fails. This is an issue due to how the upgrade works. Because it just copies over the directory, if I know archive SR2, it will actually be archiving SR2:R, because the directory contains the new stuff. However, restoring that archive WON'T tell Impulse that SR2:R is installed; it'll still offer it as a download. Th
I'm not sure? I added the key manually, and Complete appeared AFTER I'd installed Reboot. Meh, I'm not fussed; I've already got it working - I just want a functional archive so I can avoid downloading it again later. The archive I made of Complete doesn't work, I assume because I don't -currently- have Complete on my menu thingo.
Under what circumstances did you get the Complete option to appear? It appeared for me once Reboot had been installed, but it was flagged 'installed' already. I removed Reboot to try and use the Complete icon to download the whole package (and hopefully work) but the Complete icon has since disappeared.
A friend in the US gifted me the game, so I've had a bash at it. Amusingly, the game doesn't check dependencies; I had SR2 installed already, but from before an Impulse reinstall so it didn't know. DL'ing Reboot gave me a folder full of patch files - and it turns out the 'expansion' makes you download slightly-modified datafiles. However, that's pretty weak. GC2 detects if you have previous required versions installed and prompts you to install them, why not SR2? Als
How does it handle the SR2, SR2:R and SR2:C thing? Maybe if you have both, it gives you the option to download 'SR2: complete' which is the safer way?
Guys, that's hilarious. You have to overwrite SR2 with SR2:R even after a download, or Reboot doesn't work? I'm almost glad I can't buy it... from here.
If you happen to have tokens then a proxy is all you need...
I only have 1 token, and they're not selling them anymore. Good thing Stardock didn't bother to tell anyone it was NA-only, hey guys! :CONGRAT:
It checks ip address and the billing country. Spoofing an ip will of course not work, since that will prevent a reply from coming to your computer. Using a proxy, however, will.
Are there post-purchase checks? Will Stardock disable keys sold to those outside North America? I mean, I'd love to give them my money, but if it'll just result in my key being disabled (maybe even my whole account) I'll find another way. While I think Stardock have mishandled this, if
Gifting works! Gifting works! Now just need a gifter!
How does it 'decide' where you are? Could we make another account to 'gift' our primary? Spoof the IP lookup? Or is it a simple matter of changing region in Windows? Oh and 'fcuk you' Stardock. And localised pricing too! There is now no point whatsoever to use Impulse as a store, hooray. Not that it even works properly, but hey. Points for effort. :CONGRAT:
Which is why there's no importer or even a test to see if the files are cheats? 90% of players are going to remake their races, AGAIN. This is not optimal. And what's with the race styles? With all the lowend changes to TA, are styles still built on the DA hackjob and only work on the initial ships for AI players (ps, manual xml editing is not a game feature, if people have to do it, it's broken). Why would it, for instance, display the thumbnail for a Drath ship in the 'style select screen
I quit EVE myself when I found out how much CCCP employees were interfering with the game. As the OP says, all kinds of dirty tricks are par for the course, and if idiots get ripped off nobody is going to 'reset' it, which gives the game it's unique flavour. However, when CCCP is fucking around and slanting the playing field toward their corps, that ruins the good clean scamming.
I dropped a bunch of comments on the forum, but the formatting is totally borked so I doubt anyone will decipher the now block-of-text. :( Anyway, polish custom races and datafile usability. Make custom styles actually work for players and let players either open 'wrong extension' files to use older versions or let the game 'see' them to allow them to be used. Ideally, make custom races/styles backwards compatible and unified so you don't have such a huge mess of custom des
Oh jesus. I have no idea what the issue is (it happened over on the Stardock.com forums too), but my carriage returns didn't work. Believe me, if I click 'edit' they're there and it's a properly-formatted series of paragraphs. Charming. Sorry, guys. In the edit window the paragraphs are triple-spaced now, but it's just a block of text in the forum.
