. I won't buy a game with turn-based combat though. you are already playing a turn based combat game, takt is just taking it to the next level! grip get a... GO Richrf! GO Morghenes! that was really well said! boo to the naysayers! Down with No! <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-
FROOKIE
I just wouldn't but the game (if it had turn based tactical) Liar liar pants on fire! you'd buy shit in a brown bag if it had stardocks name on it....
I've seen Rome: Total War mentioned a lot in these types of threads as an example of successfully blending turn-based strategy with tactical combat. Personally, I found the battles in that game more annoying than anything after a while. Basically the same thing all the time (at least for me): really dude, any improvement to moving ships to atta
Granted it's a lot higher than multiplayer to be more precise: it blows multiplayer out of the water. Even heroes is beating multiplayer. so meh... Personally i'd settle for email play as I prefer to mull over what i want to do, and still have a full time life to consider aswell. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smile
The best end turn souns setup I've seen and heard is from Alpha centauri. This might be before a lot of your times and the nearest analogue to it would be stephen hawkins robot voice, it simply said end turn, but i liked it and it is a good idea. The beta had a sound effect on the turn being done, users requested we remove it. When
Give me Death stars! Give me carriers! Give me MORE!
I personally couldn't care less if either turn based or simutaneous or real time tak combat was implemented, it would still improve the game. a chess style one piece at a time would enable us to play really tactically - it would take an age. so a simple your turn my turn system would be more appropriate. But the real time mode would be a real adrenaline buzz. the simultaneous idea would be a real nailbiter. All the ideas have their own merit and should not be dismissed by anyone especially by u
hey joeld! how you doing? What can i say, I just tell it like i see it - thanks. Morghenes you are onto the right lines, any developement of the combat system is not something to be taken lightly...Don't get caught!
Maybe GC2 won't be legendary, but I think we owe it to the devs and everyone making suggestions, to keeping an open mind the Galactic Civilizations will be a Legendary Series. Why? Because each game gets better and better. Maybe I'm wrong and it's a crime. Shoot me...(Please). Don't worry I wont shoot you, but I do have something to
Get your yayas in if you care to. Its not as though tac combat is running away with the poll, its on top though, so good for it. I think most people who are anti tac-combat are that way for GC2, since implementing it with the current mechanics would be pretty assinine, which is exactly the same thing Brad has been saying all along. Yeah, sorry
Marcanthonas - stop being disagreeable! We both know you'd love to see a decent tak setup. Admittedly whats described above especially systematization(What?) is not very cool, but don't knoock the idea on principle.
Hooray for tactical combat!
Having tactical combat without a degree of complexity would be like playing chess without the queen, knights and bishops. A shallow waste of time. More is good people!
I voted for tactical battles. God bless you frogboy! I've been campaigning for tactical combat ever since I started playing the game and one of the things which truly amazed me was the abitlity of some people to make comments such as 'there must only be a few very vocal supporters of tactical combat, because look at all us people ar
GC2 is BIG! You can end up with not just 20, but as many as 50 or even 100 combats in ONE turn.Even if you could somehow resolve a tactical battle in, say, 30 seconds, that would mean possibly as much as an hour for just one turn to finish. Its not about the time taken, its all about how much fun it is. Really that is just a poor, poor argumen
Finally, a chance to show that Tactical combat is not just something that can be dismissed as something that only a few - very vocal people want to see. Looks like there's a lot more of us, init. Hi people, thankyou! Its for a good cause. Tactical combat would make the game bigger, much bigger. A leap forward in terms of player options. But that is not to say I don't want improvements in Diplomacy, politics, heroes and whatnot. Its that the magic of Tactical combat would blow those pa
Nope not at all, its the truth and nothing but. Been pushing for it for ages. BTW you didn't have trouble posting did you?
looks like you got your wish, huhoh! The poll is up! Vote people vote! And its looking very good for the takkers so far!
yeah, give it a whirl....Luckily its not rocket science and pretty soon you'll be churning out monster battlecruisers
A personaly want carrier i really do even though right now i am fighting them. You know, you are actually quite clever. To get your point accross you are sympathising with the opposition, to show that you have their best interests at heart... Bottom line: carriers or ship enhancing mobile flagships would add some much needed diver
Oh come on... If you have little or no military you are just asking to be attacked and on masochist level the AI can eat you up quick unless you have a few good fleets and that wont be easy when the AI has such huge bonuses. Its not actually that cut and dried cebuguy. Why waste some serious infrastructure building time and put a load of
Stay away from the campaign. In fact stop playing completely. read up on the game. After an hour or two doing some research come back to the game and play. Play on cakewalk in a medium galaxy with as many civs as you can and just play. Eventually everything will just 'click'.
And to answer the question of "cheating", can you beat the game on suicidal with out cheating in some way? It is possible, but likely extremely impossible It is not easy to beat the AI on Suicidal, but it is certainly something you can do as long as you don't start in an untenable position. Try it without buffing up your initial quota of goodie
Galciv is not MOO!! very clever richrf . But they are definitely right about random dreadlord appearances spicing up the game. I'd also like to see more random events occurring. And the fact that when ethics is reached you don't seem to get anymore e
yeah that particular chapter of the campaign sucked pretty hard. I was developing like crazy, and wasted time building a network of military starbases, then decided to hit them and not once did they build a single ship, it was pretty poor show.
