[quote who="Trojasmic" reply="3" id="2974636"]There was an experiment done with rats where they were given 2 levers. One lever produced food every time they pressed it. The other lever would only randomly produce food so sometimes they would get food and sometimes they wouldn't. With EWOM's failure, Brad learned an important lesson. That lesson was that big projects need to be led by project managers. The lesson he didn't learn was that we

I strongly second this!!!! also remove the tile cost for housing, and add more incentives for larger cities. The limiit for repetable buildings should be at least 2 to 4 *per extra level* for higher lvl cities. Gimme some bang for my food/pop. i.e. 1 at lvl 1, 3 at lvl2 6 at lvl3 10 at lvl4 .... And let us decide how much or what to build, cause now all cities look the same as the OP said.

Greets, I just started a 1.30 game after such a long time (med map normal AI), so far: 1. Almost all starting ruins around my starting point (7) had daggers in them, no armor, no potions, no stat boosting items, I have 1 sov, 1 champion and 7 daggers!!! 2. Very early game: My neigbour had no one stationed in his 2nd city even after 20-30 turns of gameplay, my sov just marched in.... 3. And no troop/sov from that faction came to tak

The average person doesn't even begin to understand the problem: They think that the leaders of the west will pull some "policy" from their sleeves and the problem will be solved. The truth is that consumers never payed the true energy price (except for the small negligible percentage coming from renewable resources). What you pay is the cost to extract, move and reprocess oil, gas and coal. It was never the cost to "create" or gather the energy they represent (MJ? kCal?) per

[quote who="BoogieBac" reply="34" id="2751495"]Unfortunatly, we've run into some issues and will have to post tomorrow (hopefully mid-day, if things go well the rest of tonight). The big changes in 1.07 will be... - performance boost (Q/A seeing a 15-ish FPS boost in apples-to-apples save comparisons) - lots of memory fixes, including game-within-a-game and sound issues - tweaked calculation of unit group battle stats (shouldn't be as powerful) - grouped units s

All this conversation is for naught until the infinite accessories mechanic gets nerfed into oblivion. The most imba accesory isn't attack or moves or hp, it's combat speed. Every time you attack you get to play first, so with combat speed of 13 or something equally big, you lay waste to all that could oppose you in the first turn. I know, cause my sovereign cleared monster armies with CR 2500 in the first turn she attacked. Also getting the gold is easy, just f

Yes I had all of the computer players, but still when the last set of shards appeared, the last computer sovereign had 0 cities and was walking on the map alone.... Also when other players research more resources, are these new and extra? I always thought that all players get a common set of those, so the only reason to research the techs would be to be the first one to grab them.

In my first game, after a long time I noticed that new shards were spawning on the map. I don't know if that's intentional but it sure causes a lot of trouble, and makes shards useless and even an annoyance. Reminds me that episode from Space 1999 with the growing mineral aliens... An image is worth a thousand words: Note that this is a small map.... <img style="float: left;" src="http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/360/elemental1282872401.jpg" alt="" wid

Ok, I finished my first small game. An I have come up some personal rules and mods to use/try for my next 1.6 "balanced" games: 1. A hero/sov can only use 1 instance of each jewelry. You can use 4 rings if they are a different item each. Why? With loads of gold sovs/champs become fast truly immortal. Also the AI isn't using that trick. I wish I knew how to mod this. </p

The fact that you reached the windows 7 desktop after a fresh install doesn't mean a thing. Granted, some PCs can't even go there for sure. You have to be certain that the components in your PC are in good working order, the bios has the right settings for them, do the thing they say they do on the box, are compatible together, and that they can perform under load. So check your drivers, do stress tests, both the multicore cpu stress tests, the gp

XSLT is another thing, in XSLT you use an XML document and XSL transformation code, to produce another document. An XSLT processor is used like a "compiler" on the inputs. XSLT is XML like only in terms of it syntax, i.e. it uses markups, and only on the fact that it accepts XML as its input. What lies inside the tags ... isn't part of XML and that was the intended design. It could be java, it could even be C++, a cooking r

I just came out of my 2nd 4 hour session in my first game. Here's the deal and some notes: I choose to start with bows. Bows are definitely imba at the start of the game. Even single units can do wonders. I also picked organized. I am playing a female sov, got married asap. I am traveling with the husband. Why? He also gets xp, and levels up. I imbued him after the marriage and all the points go to essence and int he's to imbue the

[quote who="cwg009" reply="49" id="2730764"]It's because the big studios are the ones buying all the advertising which is where the magazines and sites make all their money. As a result game magazines are very hesitant to publish an overly critical review of their flagship games (particularly the ones with big advertising budgets) for fear of the ads being pulled and losing all that revenue. Stardock, on the other hand, is an indie studio with a small advertising budget, so consequently they

[quote who="BlackRainZ" reply="60" id="2730487"] Quoting maniakos, reply 49 Quoting BlackRainZ, reply 32Honestly, after playing version 1.05, there were very few problems left, and none which was making the game crash, etc. There were issues with some of the game mechanics not working but they fixed that in a hot fix. I really don't know what people are complaining about, the release of starcraft 2 was much worse. This game is awesome. The release of sta
