Does everyone else have as many fond memories of playing Rome: Total War for hundreds of hours, as I do? One of the best aspects of R:TW was the way in which your faction leader and generals would evolve throughout the game, partially determined on who their parents were, in what type of environement he was raised, and how and what he performed throughout his life. There were dozens and dozens of d

I'm a little surprised you guys don't claim Rome: Total War as an inspiration. While it's not completely TBS, a lot of the strategic-level goals and ideals seem very similar. Also, there was a thread earlier about how the combat should work, and while a lot of people mentioned morale and units fleeing, I don't think anyone mentioned the Total War series, which pioneered and continues to lead in that field.
One more thing, Frogboy, I hope you will implement take over AIs for those human cowards who leave in the middle of games?
Considering the success of AI hot-swapping in Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead, it's pretty much got to become a basic feature for all multiplayer games from now on. You should be able to both drop out and join late, if they really want to be thorough about it.

With as much as Stardock loves AI, and I love you for it, I wonder whether you guys have experimented with any genetic algorithms, or whether you are planning to do so? Your server-living faux-human process sounds like a great opportunity to employ them to both create and hone your AIs: daily tweaking, very random actual human inputs, and a clearly defined generational goal to win. In such ideal circumstances I would imagine that genetically developed AIs would improve substantial

I hope the magic works on the same generative principles. So few games have glyph-based magic, but I alwaysw have the most fun with them. DO ANY MMORPGS HAVE GLYPH-BASED MAGIC? One early game I remember that did it well was Keef the Thief (1989), in which you could combine alchemy ingredients to make whatever potions you wanted. There was another game of the same era in which you controlled 4 adventurers in an isometric perspective in a quest to ... quell evil. I

Given the game has tactical battles and a smart development team, I foresee the units and combat to basically be upgraded Total War mechanics: * maybe a general in charge of the army with interesting bonuses based on his experience, and * units gaining their own experience for some minor bonuses Because of the tactical battles, I'm concerned about a couple of ideas I've seen on this thread: * aura-bonuses. Go play Company of Heroes: Opposin

Yes, it is fixed. I was able to successfully create an account just now. After you press "Accept" on the page where you typed in a username, password, CD key, and email address, a new window came up that said the account was successfully created. I was also able to log on immediately. Apparently there was so me kind of server-side problem that was goi

I preordered Sins way back when it was first announced but haven't had a good opportunity to try playing it until recently. Today, after installing 1.1, I tried logging into IronClad Online (ICO) for the first time, but haven't been successful. I went to the Create Account button inside the game, entered a username and duplicate password, pasted in my CD-key from Impulse's "Registration" page (with dashes), and hit "Accept". And then nothing happened....? No message ab

Hi, Maybe someone already posted this. If so, then sorry. When I trade, I don't want the AI to screw me too bad, so I like to use bc's or IP's to fill the remainder of the trade balance. To do so, I try to use the slider that is on the trade screen, but it moves like a bajillion points with the tiniest move of the mouse. So I go to the nearest point above or below where it changes from green to red and then click anywhere from

So you can trade for them, but you don't get the physical trade good only the effect. Yes, I recall a message about them copyrighted or patented or whatever, point being the people that recieve it in trade can only use it themselves. Kind of like buying something from the iTunes store.

Hello Stardock, I just bought Dread Lords and can't wait to install it! In the meantime, though, I must point out that masterofmagic2.com is starving for news.
