I'm not sure if it would be an RPG or not, but Shining Force (particularly 2) and Fire Emblem would both qualify, although they're both console games. I'd be interested in knowing some more modern PC options.

My preference would be: *Exisiting Vista users- smaller upgrade cost, maybe $50 or so; this would help to redeem Microsoft in the light of how poor of a job they did releasing Vista *XP users- a much higher cost, since 7 will be a much more improved OS, having the good things of Vista combined with the improvements in 7, too. Maybe no real migration path here, or not much different than an outright purchase? My hope would also be that there aren't tons of d

When I tried to visit elementalgames.com tonight (8:24pm CDST), I got the following error: The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you. I can get to forums.stardock.com fine, but no dice on the website.

No kidding- if anyone should be able to speak on the behalf of consumers as a company, it's Stardock. I'm glad the FTC is taking a look at this. I don't favor government intervention, but with a money-driven society, a lot of choices are made for profit rather than the benefit of society/consumers. The big challenge here will be striking that fine balance between companies being able to enforce copyrights and consumers not being saddled with DRM that is far too restrictive

I like the story. Here's the one thing that bugged me about it, though- a lack of descriptions. The story as a whole is very plot/action-driven, which is good, but there are things missing that would really give it more body. Things like: Describing the environment around where these events take place in further depth- colors, scents, architecture, climate, etc. More of the internalized thoughts of Kona, Draginol, etc. Further descriptions

Does the sucky video editing software including Ulead Video Studio 11.5 Plus? If so: http://www.impulsedriven.com/vidstudio I'm not a fan of Sony, but they purchased some video editing software and now sell it as Vegas Movie Studio. It's mostly intuitive, powerful, reasonably priced, and works well. I'm not sure if it's multi-threaded, though.
Quoting Martimus, reply 8This is pretty much how GC2 works, so I would expect Elemental to work the same way. It would be nice to be able to upgrade a unit without it stripping everything and starting over again though. (like replacing just the sword, or just the armor; which should be easier since you can't mount a sword anywhere like you can mount a part anywhere in GC2.) Not quite the same, though. In GCII you still had t

When you have old, outdated equipment, can you choose to put it back in your equipment pool, or can you only sell it? I could see having both options. However, keeping anything on-hand is going to carry with it some sort of upkeep (it costs money to keep inventory). Here's another thought- with this level of customization, it's going to be freaking difficult to tell how powerful another army is in comparison with your own. Can we have some sort of overall score/range

That would be neat to see seasons change and influence terrain and appearance. If a channeler specializes in weather magic does that make him a: magicianorologist -or- meteorician ? ;)

Good thought to this. One thing I would modify slightly is that units would recover health: *Very slowly in enemy territory *Normally in neutral/unexplored territory *Fastest in home territory (and/or possibly allied territory) If health recovery will vary by location, there really needs to be some sort of information on the speed of regaining health. For example: Health recovery: X (where X represents the rate of recovery/turn). Maybe

Speaking of ignoring posts, I saw a feature in Impulse where you could Blacklist users. I assume this allows you to effectively block/ignore posts from particular users. Is that true? If so, any chance we might see this feature in the forums? Yeah, why can't we discuss something interesting? Something we can all agree on. Like scientology?
<
haha You guys are too funny Needless to say it's been a busy month and a half, and with various problems (hard-drives burning out, misc. weird bugs) messing up our December milestone, I've simply been passing info on to Brad to relay on to you chaps. I REALLY hope to have some more info early-January, but at this point we're just trying to get things as stable/fun/playable as we can. Merry Christmas, everyone!&nb

Although what they did with that picture and how it looks on the Medallions are quite a bit different, and much better looking. As far as art goes, I favor "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I wouldn't claim that concept art as beautiful, but I don't think it's bad. If it was a final product and the best that could be made, I'd have a problem, but that's not the case. I'm sure SD could use more artists, but I think the issue has to do with paying them and that

Although the interesting thing here is that since SD is the distribution platform, you could easily snag back a "piece of the pie" if someone were to resell their copy, so from that perspective you could still get money back. On a larger scale, reselling digital software is a lot like "renting" a game instead of owning it. I certainly don't want to just rent, but on the other hand if I bought a copy of a game and will never play it again, why can't I give it to my brother to pla
With all brutal honesty, I consider this to be the worst graphical design I've seen in a game in years. I'm really looking forward to a MOM sequel, but the current screenshots like e.g. https://www.elementalgame.com/Screenshots/Kingdom_Knight_Snow_1280.jpg look like they are from a mediocre Browser game. And about the characters ... https://www.elementalgame.com/Artwork/Worker_Concept.jpg It's not even April 1st, so

Scott (aka BoogieBac)- As the Executive Producer of Elemental, we haven't heard too much from you. How is life treating you in your new role of SD employee wrangler? It's been almost a month and a half since the official announcement, and so far all the Dev Journals have been from Brad. Since you're not a dev (you're the producer) I suppose that makes sense, but it would be interesting to hear how things are going for you and such if you have time. Anyway,

Hasn't this discussion already taken place many times before? It's like deja vu all over again! Tokens are dead, but can be used up with help from SD (mostly on old games and SD ones).

Thanks for the updated artwork, Brad. Much appreciated, as always. I'm encouraged to see you consistently adding content to the Elemental forum, despite the long release date. It seems like whenever I start to wonder what's new with Elemental, up pops info from you. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
