The trick is not to lose control of your economy. I have found that by spreading quickly to colonize planets, but taking a few turns before you start producing stuff on the planet makes the colony fees a WHOLE LOT LESS debt causing. In fact, a new colony that is not producing anything gains you 3bc a turn. The population of that planet will rise and soon you'll be able to start building projects there and still spend less than the popula

Crap sorry to do this.. but I forgot to add something to my previous pose and I can't edit it. The AI are wusses. They need to explore the options of Joining together to attack the player. I find that once I build a military that is stronger than each individual AI, they all become scared little wimps afraid to fight me, and I just sit back building my military slowly, while researching HEAVILY and by mid game I'm so far ahead of them

The AI is pretty good. I find myself beating it on "Intelligent" level with increasing ease though. I am not sure if it is the tweaks they've made or if I'm just getting much better. However, I am certain that the tweaks they made to the Approval and the taxes is rediculous. I can have 85% approval with 65% taxes!!!! This makes me able to dominate more. I like the old tax-approval model where I had to keep it at or around 40-45 to avoid a sh

Odd... I always kill the computer before they can get that far on the tech tree. I've never seen a computer get past Photon (or the Laser/Mass Driver equivalent). I play on Tough in gigantic galaxy with all 9 races, and normal tech rate.

I wish we could destroy super projects. I mean they're buildings that, I think, can be destroyed in a Mass Driver invasion, so why can't we decommision them ourselves when we want to move our Tech/Econ/Political capitols to a better planet?

Yeah the ship name thing is just user error. Don't do it. I don't think that's a bug. It will just go to the first one with that name. But, if you insist, first stop all building of the old design with the same name and then over write it. There have been times when I make a design but forgot to add something and I immediately upgrade it and give it the same name. I have never had trouble as long as I didn't have it in que on any of my

Hey Guys, I beleive I've found a problem. It seems that after the UP resolution to up the minimum contructor to 5pc/week is passed all my constructors are limited to 5pc/week. I have constructor designs with 4xWarp5 engines but only their first move is the full 29pc/week. After that they're limited to 7pc/week. When a constructor is first created, the Moves Left display shows "29/7", after

Ever since the 1.1B2 patch, i've started using defense. I can tell you that defended ships perform MUCH better than undefended ones. I started to use heavy weapons small defense strategy. Since I usually play as a "Good" race I get the really awesome defenses like Telepathic Defense and so forth. A fleet of ships with defenses lasts a LOT longer than one without. I have lost 4 ships in my most recent game. I have destroyed pr

To #17. If you erase, or better simply rename your *.raceconfig files to something else, then you will see the races in their original states. Some races have a TON of bonuses like the Drathi and Arceans and Yor. They have like 20pts worth of bonuses (exaggeration maybe like 15 or so). Plus they have more starting techs. The humans are made with the handicap. I believe this is intentional, it only makes sense since they are the n

Not true. Take pregnancy. The chance of getting a girl or boy is always 50%. You can have 100 kids and get all girls. The previous outcome has no bearing on the current one, because the odds are fixed each time. Seeing as this is a computer game, the odds are fixed each time it chooses the races as well. That 20% of the time could possible only occur after 1000 flips of the coin, or maybe even a million. If the system somehow accounted for previous tosses then there will b

Well the tech tree is interesting. I've found that every new tech gives you a new building, ship component, or ability. I haven't come across a "useless" tech yet. The navigation of the tree does leave a bit to be desired. Maybe it should collapse and expand like a Tree View in a windows application. That would at least make it a bit more managable than its current state. A simple Tree View would be awsome, with the Major Categories being first, and the sub categories under that, and

LOL!! Yeah. Murdering 2 billion "people" is coldly rational!! That is hilarious. Usually the good choice has a negative affect, the Good choice always has to be the hard one. The neutral choice is choosing what is best for everyone involved. Killing them isn't a good choice for those that surrendered. Good: Fully Incorporate them into your society with all rights and priviladges (-5% Morale hit - because your population would be less happy with aliens on their world) Neutr

I like it the way it is. They captured all of that better attack, better dodge, etc stuff in upping the HP, you up the HP and the ship will have a better chance of winning, period. Don't mess with something that isn't broken. If your fleets continue to survive battles that is a good thing that they become increasingly difficult, and finally nearly impossible to be defeated. They are the elite, and they shouldn't fall. This is ofcourse, just my oppinion, and I am certain th

I don't usually demand money. But there have been times when I am clearly the winner, I'm so powerful that the comparison against "Top Players" has me at minimum 3:1 in everything. Yet, when I demand that one race stops attacking another they tell me to piss off. I can't even begin to understand why such a simple request would be met with such a race dooming response. I ofcourse crush them, and even their allies don't dare help them when I d

I learned that races lose abilities when you use their extra points. I do not beleive this is intentional. I think they just gave the races too few points by mistake. The Drathi, Yor, and Arceans have amazing starting abilities. No matter how you look at it, it is a big advantage. However, we're humans, and we can easily learn a computer's pattern and beat it. That gives us the big advantage. This is why I always play on TOUGH in a gigantic
