And what is the fun in starting with massive amounts of essence from the start of the game, and no ways to get more? Being able to do whatever you want in the beginning of the game? Isn't it more interesting to start with very little essence, and having to work and plan carefully to get more of it? I guess that's what strategy is all about...

I guess you all have seen this screenie: https://www.elementalgame.com/Screenshots/Empire_Fire_Shard_1280.jpg Don't you think this might be a source of essence? Perhaps they are placed arro

An army should need a hero/commander to fight better. That makes more usefull traits possible for the heroes. Traits making their troops fight better, the army to march further, or the logistics more efficient. One of the things i didnt like with the TotalWar games (pre Empire;TW) was the lack of enough commanders for your armies. Can't understand why that model should be attractive..... And one more thing, this game will be far better then Total War anyways.... at least for a

Is that true? I thought Beta 0 was for a selected few, but the next betas was for all pre-orders? Good news indeed of course, if that's a fact...

Hey! I love the workers in Civilization, and having to hide them when enemies attack. It's not too much micro management at all. And I don't want those CivRev ideas ruining a diamond of a game. It's fun actually, making a workforce, and having to balance that vs city growth etc. in the beginning of the game! Having to prioritize every turn what your limited workforce should do. I'm glad Frogboy is a Civ fan, promises well for Elemental. I've been a Civ player since 1991,

Just pre-ordered the game. I was going to anyways, but have been waiting because I wanted the retail box, and the costums to Norway will be expensive + there is a great chance I'm moving before the release in 2010. But of course, I can't miss the Beta...... :D

I just hope your channeler's mana can be slowely refilled again if you controll certain mana sources on the map, or build certain expensive buildings. It should be hard to come by, but you shouldnt have just one amount of mana the whole game, and that's it, it must be possible to get some more of it.

I'm so glad this game is turn based, I prefer strategy before tactics! :) I am not so concerned about the races. It's two races, but each race have 6 different sub races/factions, that's 12 different factions. Not many fantasy strategy games have 12 factions to choose from guys, and I'm sure the expansions will give us even more. And remember; all these strange, fantastic and magical creatures will be in the game too, but you'll have to catch them and domisticate them bef
East against West is always a very fun idea. I like it.
Yeah! Imagine playing multiplayer with a friend, one as men, one as the fallen. Each one of us unites their race, then at last comes the ultimate epical superwar between the two of us.... yummy! :D What a grand multiplayer experience it might be.

There's also another method, much better then these 2 mentioned; the Europa Universalis/Hearts of Iron method (Paradox entertainment). It has sliders for upkeep and reinforcements. It costs you gold and draws recruits from your manpower pool. It also takes time and depends on the territory; hostile or friendly, and supplylines. (Why have I not been rewarded with any karma yet? We should not brag too much about the Frog. Larger game companies/developers could snap it up and steal the beloved Frog from Stardock. The world would be so much poorer with Frogboy working for EA....... God forbid having Frogboy destroyed working on Spore II or the SIMs!
Quoting NorsemanViking, reply 12 This is really interesting! This will also make it possible to optimize the AI for different kind of maps etc. One AI could for instance have 12 player games, and large maps as his favorite gamestyle, and always wanting to join those game as his 1st priority!12-player games? 12-player games?! If we're going to have x64 gargantuan stupidly-large maps, I want 48-play

One AI could for instance have 12 player games, and large maps as its favorite gamestyle, and always wanting to join those games as its 1st priority! What about an AI entering a 1v1 game starting to complain to the human host. "Please change it to a larger map with more players, 1v1 is dull!" If the host refuses the AI can threathen to leave the game and say: "We

Another thing I'd like to add. Plaese don't have a score system where you can see each of the players total score from early in the game, like in Civ4 or Heroes 4. It makes people too focused on that score, and quitting when they feel they're to far behind. Hopefully you will have to make alot of effort in Elemental to collect that kind of info about your opponents.
