Special Exception doesn't seem to work since my crashes are total lockups - reboot. It doesn't log anything. Here is another great debug.err Debug Message: Version v1.0X.1 last updated on: Mon Mar 6 13:57:14 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info Time: 3/14/2006, 17:45:41 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Machine Na

Downloaded the updates through Stardock. No change in the problem. Frame rate throttling is on but nothing I try seems to make this game work. I played around with every setting possible but this issue wont go away. The absurd thing is that it does work fine for 10-15minutes at a time but the deeper you get into the game the sooner the crash happens. Kind of looking at the GalCiv II box here and thinking about returning it because I am at the end of my ropes with this game.

Ok, ok. I finally got a solid error message from Windows which I think leads to the source of the problem. Tech guys please come back and have a look Error Signature szAppName : Drivers.Display szAppVer : 100241440000021002 szModName : ati2dvag.dll szModVer : 6.14.10.6601 Offset : BB3006EA It made a log file in C:\WINDOWS\LogFiles\Watchdog\060313_2105_01.wdl that I could find if needed. Also, I can't figure out how to use the Specia

Hum, my ram does not cause problems in other games. Rome: Total War, World of Warcraft all run fine on high settings. I will see what Smart Exception can do for me - Here is my debug report and this one is from one game that had 10-15 crashes. Debug Message: Version v1.0 last updated on: Mon Feb 6 12:52:05 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: Can't find galciv2 serial in registry subdirectory GalCiv2. I get this same stuff with the 2/2006 latest drivers. I don't think its the heat at all as neither of these cases are running older systems. My system never gets above 29 degrees itself and my card does not over heat on other graphically intensive games.

I wanted to make a separate post for everyone who has this problem and from scouting the forums it seems quite a few of you do. Basically, the game lets you play for a few turns then locks up the computer and crashes, forcing a reboot. And this happens roughly every 10-15minutes. I have seen several posts all saying the exact same thing. All of these people have the latest drivers and good system setups. None of this is solved by the simple fixes

Droan I have your precise problem - and we are not the only ones. Basically the game plays a few turns at best and then locks up at some point. I think it is either video related, or the install corrupts somehow (don't know how). All the latest drivers and option changes in the world have not fixed it for me thus far. I am waiting for Stardock here to tell us what is going on.

As general advice for everyone, I recommend setting the game to autosave every 1 turn. This game can crash and lock at any moment for any reason. For those of you who get corrupted saved games and can't reload them because the game crashes when you do, try the "previous saved game" - it usually works for me.

I am having the exact same problems as several other people who have posted here. I get about 5-15minutes of game time in, then it crashes hard and locks the computer. It particularly likes to crash during the shipyard or planetary assault screen but in general something is horribly wrong. Worst of all, I can't uninstall it completely. Every time I re-install the game it somehow remembers the old savegames and screws itself up even more....it seems
