When I still had the glitch, the slider at 90. I had to slide it fully to 0 and then to another value before I got my graphics back.

I agree with Tototot. There should either be initiative rolls at the beginning of the battle. There should be tech tree options perhaps for modifiers to combat initiative such as stealth systems, pilot training, enhanced ship targetting computers, Oh and while I'm at it, what about manually setting target priorities?
Yes thank you!! that solved my problem. Weird thing is, I remember adjusting it to 90 when I first got the game. So it worked for a long time at 90. Then it stopped working. Anyway, I tried setting it all over the place (except 0) and it still didn't work. My ships and planets are missing textures and I'm running US windows and my regional settings are set to US. Please help me fix this as this SEVERELY detracts from gameplay as some enemy ships don't show up at all unless I happen to mouse over their location.
On my galaxy map planets have been replaced by rings of white. Starbases, ships, resources and anomolies all show up as tiny white icons instead of being displayed using pretty graphics.
