I only agree about mining starbases. A mining starbase thats taken should become a super basic mining starbase for the attacker. That way a 3rd party who wasn't part of the war can't opertunistically take it and go, "neah neah, you can't have this case you dont want to declare a 2nd war."

You have to create a rally point with the little button above where it shows your money and approval. theres this little button everyone doesn't see that lets you create a rally point. The button on your ships and planets is to choose a rally point but its greyed out because no rally points exist to be picked from.

man I love dungeon keeper... That game was the first to make me want to write up a detailed idea for an expansion and mail it to the developers with a "You can use this for free, I give up my rights to it" letter.

Moral and approval are the same. The approval bonus tile is used with moral boost buildings. Your empire wide approval rating is baised on your average of your colonies I think and is really just a measure for you to use to guess if you'll be reelected in the advanced goverment types. I don't know what you mean by popularity but I suspect its also the same as empire wide approval.

No. Just because it's annoying and known for a long time does not make it easy to fix. Obviously the load save function has some intrensic problem thats hard to fix.

No offense Weepy but letting players tweak the AI and set them aginst eachother is FAR more practiacal then any sort of learning AI. I like Xpyre's idea. Good games have a huge resource of eager fans, this is why some moddable games become huge successes, by tapping into the player base's creativity as a resource. Setting up a way for players to adjust the AI would be awsome and probably make the game better but obviously thats a big project so it's probably asking too much.

they should make it look like whatever factory type uilding is your most modern. An empty tile would be suspicious. but its still not going to fool most players because having ships on a planet that are redicoulsly better then identical looking ships on other planets is very blatent. I think is should change to a galaxy wide military boost like a military resource but it's not a real bonus just looks like all your ships are bigger. P.S. multiplayer ain't happening, but th

@Rthos26 1) Enemy Fleets show the total firepower not individual so maybe thats one fleet has 12 missles total. 2) They probably have military resource or 2 or even 3. these can be the most dominating resources in the game to have. 3) Possibly their ships are near a military starbase? Check the area with a sensor ship (Cargo hull full of sensors and engins) to really clear that fog of war.

I've got it! What I really want is just a command to tell my Colony ship to play auto taxi. Have it be a command that can be givin to a colony or transport in orbit and you pick a 2nd planet. Then the colony ship goes back and forth taking people to the new planet until you tell it to stop. Ideally it would not leave the first planet until the first planet just barly hit its pop cap, but I would be happy if the ship just goes as fast as it can back and forth.

The principle strategy (or, at least, mine) towards victory is to convince the galaxy to leave you alone until you become unstoppable. This requires perhaps 200 turns of relative peace. Diplomacy, Trade, Xeno Ethics: Neutral, and Manufacturing Centers are all vital components of such a plan. Once these are in place, and econ starbases are near worlds to maximize production

You need farms for more population (like one or two) and then you'll need some stricly moral bonus buildings because even though stock markets give moral the extra people will be very vey unhappy from over crowding. One good high PQ planet can make a ton more money if you have a good balance of farms, moral buildings, and stock markets.

I may have to check out Moo3 agian but I didnt know they did this in Moo3 honest I swear. I haven't played that game since my first combat and saw the "asteroids" quality graphics. My theory is that they left the placeholder graphics in at launch because they never finished some real graphics. And back on topic: @ Metaphase (the only on topic post!) I didnt think of the new planet senerio but still. It's really annoying to move people around, and when you get a new planet you can

Someone linked this post from my post and this is totally exaclty what I was saying. Except I think the reaerch doesn't need such a big change, it should only store the extra research like you proposed when you research an end of the line tech.

I'd like to add a few things: 1) I noted that research is not wasted except when its the end of a tech path like nano ripper. I don't want the research mecanic changed except for a few unusual situations. It's fairly rare to finish a tech line. 2) I'm glad to hear we dont lose BC on social anymore but wasted capacity is still waste. Capacity is just as much of a resource in this game as BCs, you build factories instead of markets because you want more capacity. If you w

Moving people from a max population planet to a planet that is going to be your economic super slum is a big hassle but a great way to get your economy going faster. The major limit on economics is population so its worthwhile to do this. However its really annoying and I know the computer doesn't do it (actually I don't know, but im pretty sure). If it were done automatically without ships it would help everyone out. No micromanging needed and closes one more gap between expert player vs AI

13 Replies 13,212 Views

This game is very close to not need micro managment which is very impressive for a 4x game. The only thing that feels like micro managing is when I adjust the spending sliders to make my production perfectly minimize waste. By waste I mean overkilling a building or ship. When you have 50 BC left to build a factory and have 80 BC capacity you waste both the 30 BC and the capacity. You could have reduced social and raised research spending and still at the end of the turn had the same factory

it's a billion people eat one megaton like cebuguy said, which means that 1 citizen eats 1 Kilo of food a week. they actually are very light grazers. FYI all food in the future will be in pill form which includes appitite suppressors and nutriants, get ready.

You know all the other races exist but your contact was through slow gate technology. True trade and relations can only be acomplished when you make a more direct connection to them by a hyperdrive equiped ship. Also some races didnt get it directly from the terrens, so you dont nessesaraly have direct contact. Or something like that... its just a game sheesh although... how did w

have some senerio that takes a end game save and pits you aginst a massive drealord invasion of the galaxy! btw, back on topic: Are you playing the demo? I hear that it has a 3 year limit or something. Otherwise shouldnt be an issue. What kind of victory ending movie do you get?

spying will be expanded ina future.. expansion. your really compalining about is that the AI gives full value to a tech its partially (or almost fully) got already through research. This is a small change that obviouly needs to be added into the AI's trade evaluation but not really something that needs a change in the way spying works.
