I always wondered if a higher ratio increased the odds of a planet turning. Do you know how the ratio increases the chance? Would having 8.0 double the chance? It bugged me not knowing if putting those extra Influence bases around a planet really do help or is it just a waste of my resources. Maybe it's just me but I find planets flip most readily with scores of around 12-24, the ones I have higher seem to take longer.

Always hard to choose favourites but the oldest games that I still have fond memories of are: Star Control 2- An awesome story line with gameplay that felt really open ended (though I'm not sure how free it really was). Numerous alien races each with their own characteristics, ships and even their own theme music. Also had some of the funniest dialogue I've seen in a game, although I hear GalCiv2 does pretty well, havent had time to check it
