I think I'll have to think on this for a while. I missed my sleep last night, so hopefully I make as much sense out there as I do in here. I can think of two examples that might be worth a look as to what happened under the hood. Starcraft: I still play it. I have friends that won't even touch video games anymore saying they waste too much time; but still play it. A friend of mine just bought the game and expansion again the other day because his disc was ruined and he wanted
Buying Spies. Ok I know that the cost of spies increases with each new one you buy but here is my question. If you have about 100 spies the next one should be a little pricey but if I loose ALL my spies, when I start to rebuild will the cost have decreased?
No. That means if you use 100 spies on one civ and then attack another, the new target may be starting fresh and out produce you like crazy. Best to think that strategy through.
While I am not going to tell you one viewpoint or another is wrong, I would like to relate an experience. While in high school, we played quite a few FPS games in the computer lab. After playing counterstrike (it just came out) for 2 periods (3 hours) straight, the bell rings and we head out. One student turns the the guy next to me and says, "It sure makes you wonder what it would be like to really kill somebody." Made me think anyway...
I thought that the graphical design was still the one you built and sent to start the trade route? Anyone know for sure. I am typically a self-sufficient galactic power and have no need to trade my precious secrets and resources with the squabbling cannon fodder that fill the galaxy around me.
With all questions, it is helpful to know what version/episode of the game you are playing. Please make sure your game has the latest patches. Tons of new content got added and lots of player requested features too. I believe you can delete a design in the shipyard screen. As I understand it, each core race has its own ship design setup. This means that when you save a ship using the Terran base ship design, it should only show up for races using the Terran base ship design.
What tech did you research to get that? I want one too!
Just to be clear, you must have close relations to set up an alliance. Close relations does not guarantee you can, as the option is reliant on many other factors as well.
The tech stealing is a chance event related to your espionage level, and, IIRC, is not possible until you reach Advanced (the same level where you can view starbase stats and planet screens).
Just to let you know, I have received techs several times when at medium or high levels. I've even stolen 2 in a row, one each turn (what are the odds??!). I was just playing a mission in the DA campaigns a few hours ago and can confirm this 100%. Received a tech at medium level fr
This is a bit off-topic, but I'd like to ask. Is something bothering you lately Brad? You seem a bit shorter than usual with the riffraff around here. Not that I don't think most of them deserve it.
No, they just have to hace the 'Alliances' tech as well as you. I've formed alliances with the AI when its military was WAY stronger than mine.
Hmmm. I know it has been stated that it is supposed to check those things. Perhaps there were other factors that made you a good candidate besides military? Perhaps you were using a different version of the game?
So there.
Perhaps you are 13?
I wouldn't mind being able to tear it down at some super high cost, only to build it again elsewhere. It should take a while too. So tear it down for 10,000 billion over 10-20 weeks (obviously with upgraded factories) and then build it elsewhere (perhaps take more time or cost something each consecutive time?). That would allow us to move them, but we'd have to really want to.
Now, if you lose a capital to a planet takeover you cannot build one again?
Hmmm... sugar or vinegar? Anyway, UI is incredibly difficult. Add to that thousands (it's thousands, right?) of hours spent adding in options, features, and content that the fans ask and beg for. At this point there are tons of extra features in this game and all of them are included in the UI, and many have options to go with them we asked for. SD could probably have spent all that time just designing the UI and still have folks tear it apart. I agree the UI could be a bit m
Ok, ok. A realistic reason for you. An economic capitol is not just a building, but a massive collection of businesses that work out of a bunch of buildings that you set up and offered to these corporations to bring in major tax dollars. While as supreme ruler of the galaxy you could order them all to move, it would be an extremely expensive process and certainly not very popular. You must also consider the billions of workers that would have to loose their jobs or move to another
Oh. Well that is good to know. I guess I'm just too careful and never got that message. Thanks for the response. I still think a big red button would be great!
Please see this thread to make sure you are checking for updates properly. [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/309039"]WWW Link[/link]
Ok, thanks! The meta part is mostly what I was concerned with.
Does no one have an opinion on the subject?
I'd like to alter the home star system of my custom races. I get bored with them all starting with Sol's layout. Anyone know how to change it? Is it Metaverse safe? Could you substitute another base race's system instead? Would that be Meta safe?
A player might want an immense game with a very fast tech speed. If it automatically scales, you are taking that option away.
I agree with that completely. The nice thing is that such a scaling option could be added via a simple checkbox or just an 'automatic' option in with the tech speed. The checkbox would be the better choice since then the scaling could be controlled as well since it is based off of the tech speed choice.
Its also true that the AI won't ally with you if it doesn't see you as being able to help/support it. If your military is too weak, the AI will see it as you mooching off their power, not you standing as equals.
It seems that the only real way to make an AI that is fun to all levels of skilled players would be to make a different AI for each level. Since that is ridiculous with regard to time and money spent, the next best thing would be to balance the AI for the really good players (note that this can't be done until there ARE some really good players), and then nerf it a bit and then a bit more for each level down below that. You could then have some 'underdog' setting where the AI gets bonu
I would prefer some larger toys to play with in my immense sandbox. Bring on the immense ships! Can't wait for the release, but I will anyway.
I would also like to see the tech tree take much longer to research. By the time I have finished upgrading my research buildings, I often have nothing left to research that will still benefit me for the game. I am typically an economic player in RTS and 4X games, and I'd like the game to match the possible economy a bit better.
