I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, or if the memory requirements of the game have even been decided, but what sort of requirements is galciv3 going to target. As saying your going to be able to use more than 2gbs (because your a 64bit process) is immaterial if your going to limit the game to 3 or 4? E.g. Is the aspiration to make galciv3 scale to the amount of memory the computer it's running on. For example if I have 16gbs I'll be able to

-What's the best way to build each type of planet and how do you know which to focus on? (eco, inf, manu) (if you could, give an example for a class 5, 10 and 20) Typically I do the following with my worlds. Anything less than PQ 9 is set as research / galactic wonders (normally brought) PQ 10 - 17 are primarily manufacturing, with a little

Systems as Separate Entities I am not sure if it has been talked about previously but I think that an area in which Gal Civ 2 currently lacks is the complexity of star systems. I would like to see star systems implemented as separate elements to "surrounding space", i.e. ships would have to enter star systems and a separate screen be displayed for the star system rather like MOO3 but with some significant changes… 1. It would enable more complex star systems, such as binary an

This is the strategy I use for Gigantic Maps with abundant everything and standard research, it will probably need to be modified a little for smaller maps… I tend to play on Crippling or Masochistic depending on how I feel with 5 opponents… I always have the computer players as the Yor, Drengi, Altrian, Acrean and Torian… The others are pretty much useless, play as a custom race or one of the others… I will outline my strategy for Crippling below, Masochistic evolves more micro-manage

upgrading and the cost of the upgrades since 1.2 works very nicely :o) But what i was getting at would be a display in the ship design screen when you are upgrading a type of ship.. Rather than having to go tro the whole design saving it and then only seeing how much it is going to cost...

When upgrading a ship class it would be useful if there was a display showing how much the upgrade would cost for all the ships you are going to upgrade whilst you are sorting the actual ship upgrade... I know at present i can look at the comparitive ship costs and multiply that by the number of ships but a display showing the exact cost would be useful to avoid overspending... Would avoid the suprise of going into the red after upgrading

here is an idea. If you want to make a fantasy game, why does it have to be just magic? How about some cool combination of magic and technology. The good old pen and paper role playing game ShadowRun comes to mind... god that was a lot of fun... An RPG along similar lines set in a more advanced universe with different races and that would be insa

I am not sure if you can select exactly what weapons tech the AI decides to take... maybe giving the AI the first tech of the weapons tree you want it to take might work?

Firstly as suggested above read the Modding guide! Having been thinking about this myself a couple of days back you are kind of limited to what you can do... Minor races can not colonize planets so they can only grow throght invasion... you also need to note that minor races will only have 1 planet for quite some while... this means they rapidly fall behind on research/economy/production/etc... I think the best that you can do to help them is to mod there abilities (fou

I have seen the answer here somewhere and even thought ah i will watch that post but i forgot to gah... can someone tell me what .bik file i need to replace to get custom portriats up on the trade and Diplomatic images... i just want the standard .png file to display not the .bik vid thanks in advance

Just to confirm it was the nasty saved "custom" races that were causing the problem... for example if you have a custom made Human race... it will interfere with any slot 1 modifications that you make... now i have removed all of my customised "standard" races everything works fine

It is probably the work of some nasty .raceconfig files in your ...my docs\my games\galciv2 folder. Delete the offending files or just press 'clear' in the race customization screen. Thanks Rav8 thats conclusion i had come to! i am off to delete the offending files now <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border

Political Parties semm to work fine, these changes all hold as far as i can tell... Custom Points i can set to Zero and currently one two race setups i can get this to defualt to zero in the race config screen in game... This doesnt however seem to follow any pattern! all my race have 10 points spent balanced against the ability bonuses from a modified ability bonus xml (i have added min and logistics to it)... What i find even more annoying at present is that all modifie

Not sure if this has been asked before! I am currently moddin the Raceconfig.xml and can get all the images for portraits and logos to display correctly however, when I modify the race abilities such as economics or social productions the values only stick for certain modified races i have created... for others the values don’t show at all or they do until you move to the next screen where they disappear... I have tried using the same values for the problem races but no ch

Just thought I would add my 2 cents I tend to play on gigantic maps with everything set to abundant and the AI on crippling or higher... My race is normally a modified Yor with high military and social production, population bonus and Industrialists as government type… I take no economic bonus but I do take a moral bonus. At the start of the game I set my industrial spending to 100% and taxes so that my approval is at 100%... I only build on planets that are PQ

Any tips on how to play on Masochistic or higher difficulty. I can comfortably win on Crippling no matter my starting planet bonuses or race that I play, but when it comes to Masochistic I get walloped every time… Anyone have any tips/suggestions on what I can do?

The building is in the game... I just cant build it.. Perhaps a re-install needed

Not sure if this has been mentioned... In all the games I have played since updating from beta 1.2 to 1.2 I have not been able to build the restaurant of eternity and it doesn’t seem to appear on the tech tree either… The building is however available to the AI (which now seems to build it as a matter of course)… and if I capture the AI planet with the building I am receiving the benefits.
