Hows about having a huge hulled ship with a manufacturing module that can make up to medium class ships.could make things easier when u conquer a planet far away from your sphere of influence and then find owt the planet has 1 basic factory on it and several starports and other low tech buildings.100 turns l8r it will be a productive planet unless you can afford to buy all the upgrades.whereas you could move your manufacturing ship to a nearby location and be able to churn out defenders for the

neutral maxes the planets potential ie performs all planetry upgrades automatically.If u have already researched and implemented the upgrades im pretty sure u dont get any added bonuses from choosing neutral.some times its best to just quick tech to neutral rather than researching the improvements

i go for p12 and above at 1st til i get a nice sphere of influence then work my way back and downwards on the pq scale.I will however colonize a planet if its the only habitable in they system regardless of pq.How many colonists do u put in each ship anyway people?????

yeah i try to keep my planets as reasonably low tech as i can until i have colonised all that i can before focusing on planetry upgrades as stated.Nowt worse than buying a factory for 480 bc on one colony then several turns l8r on ur new colony it cost u a fortune for ur industrial sector.Aint worth it
