A 'no enemies' option: Really toughen up the micro-management, no enemy players. Basically turn Gal Civ into a galactic sim-city as a result. You can just about simulate that by minimizing the number of enemies and also minimizing their AI intelligence. That's how I started to learn the game, actually.

1. Carriers and "Death Star" class military starbases that have carrier hangar bays/modules. 2. Techs and/or modules that increase the area of effect of starbases.

I'm curious on why you'd want to destoy them- After all they give that planet a boost to its Manufacturing/Technological/Economical capacity.... If your first capital of that type is one you gained from a conquered planet, as far as I know, you can no longer place that capital type on one of your own planets where it would do the most good.

The best thing to do is to be kind. Send Cari down there with a katana and full Kill Bill regalia. Now that would make a great screenshot....

Still, it is pretty annoying to have a civ infiltrate your empire by colonizing all those puny planets you ignored, as it blows your sector influence, for one thing.

Someone mentioned the old VAX Star Trek game. I did some conversion work on that, from FORTRAN to Decsystem-10 Macro to speed up the terminal IO so that the university wouldn't shut it down as a major resource hog. My first favorite TBS game was, ummm, chess. heh.

I was kind of shocked to find that allies don't immediately join in when you attack someone. Perhaps "coalition" could be a step up from "ally" status that you have to work for?

Is there a record largest population for a submitted Metaverse game? I couldn't find detailed online stats on player performance points, just general scores.

* buy a ship or mining resourche from the IA, the money they want for it IF they are willing to sell it is so much it will never be earned back. but most of the times they will not sell it anyway. useless option It's still useful to buy ships from AI's (especially in blind exploration games) so that you know in general where they are. Ok, then, now I have to figure out why some of my colony ships won't colonize.... Maybe that explains why a lot of AI's just park a half-dozen scouts in orbit over their colonies early in the game: to keep unescorted transports from snapping up planets before they've researched enough for real combat ships with which to legitimately defend their planets.

I just reported that problem on the official bug thread. In my case, they did have ships orbiting the planet, but they were all unarmed scouts. You're kidding, do I really have to clean out all of the scouts before invading?

Another example of "just sitting there", at Normal setting I find time after time that AI planets produce scout ships but don't launch them; they just sit in port filling up docking space (I've seen five scouts in port a number of times). Is that expected behavior or should I file that as a bug?

Just wondering, why would anyone want to use the Trade Embargo feature ever? It's like throwing money the other civs are giving you into the trash.
