As of 1.03, the highest planet quality verifiable as legit is 81, without library mods. With them, I think you can manage 120-something. During the beta, I had one planet up to 190 (morale resources also improved planet quality for a couple builds). Never did manage to find out what the max population on that planet was. ~SDC~

My complaint is not that the AI can win via Tech Vicories, but that a tech victory is not subvertable by the time it would make sense to warn about an impending tech win. Someone mentioned the possibility of a prior warning, but in order for it to be effective, it would have to be so far before the actual victory to be meaningless. Once a race gets within five or six techs of a tech win, you can't simply culture bomb them because they'll have a hideous Influence bonus from tech

'One of the random events suggested that more espionage should have been put into a minor race (1.00 era, but doesn't appear to have been fixed.)' Kinda hard to spy on a race that doesn't exist yet (the event that suggests that is the Dark Arnor, and the race doesn't appear until after the third or fourth related event). It's based off of the total espionage you're running with all races. ~SDC~

The I-League is listed as one of the minor races only because they don't count for consideration of other's victory conditions. They, the Dreginol, the Dark Arnor, and the Fundamentalists are, for all intents, major races. They have the full capability to do anything the true majors can and, if given the chance, can complete victory conditions themselves. ~SDC~

'Um.. I'm not sure CariElf. I just know the systems were a purple color, and they had planets of class 26, or more than one, plus other good planets. I will have to find which of a bajillion save games I found that good one, and reload it to see! The one I found I didn't check the influence.. it was just a darker purple star, with 2 class 26'ers, a 17 and a 15. I've found a few other of those purple systems, and they typically always had a class 24 to 26 in them.' Purple stars are the h

'Seemingly, the other races can all communicate from turn 1 with each other (since they trade stuff like hyper-Ferengi right away), and yet the humans have to find everyone in turn before they can even talk, (if they've resesearched Universal Translators!)' If you read the story, there were a number of oddities in the Star Gate plans given to Humanity by the Arceans (including the lack of an 'off switch'). This could be more of the same. And there is the above note that mathem

'1) Betelgeuse. Its also a real star name for what its worth, on Orion's belt (no MiB rimshots please )' So is Altair, for that matter (which someone else pointed to as a Hitchhikers reference). 'I found a system named "Yggdrasil" if I remember correctly this was they way it was spelled.' In GalCiv its spelled 'Yggdradil,' but yes, Yggdrasil is how its mythological namesake is usually rendered. There's alot of these in stars.lst... Alderan is misspelled (should be Ald

'Omni, looked at your bug - do you have any .upissues? That crash was caused by it not finding any UP issues.' To touch upon this, another cause is that if there is a fatal error in one of the modable files, GalCiv will stop checking the others. If that causes there to be no techs, resources, UP issues, or invasion tactics, the game will crash to desktop (with either an ASSERT_ERROR or an INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO error) upon displaying the main screen. ~SDC~

'Arturus: Why? Is that logical? What does a terror star do with a resource?' A Terror Star is a giant planet sized construct. If you're mining a resource, it's basically built around that resource. Assuming that the resources are all about the same mass (and one is stated to be an asteroid-type object), engines powerful enough to move a planet at 36c (1 parsec/mo.) are going to be able to tug around an asteroid with no problems whatsoever. ~SDC~

' Plus it seems odd that "Independant League" would all of a sudden change their titular stripes.' The I-League is an associate race, that is to say a major race that doesn't count for victory conditions. They, the Draginol, Dark Arnor, and the Fundamentalists can all be influenced just like any other major race (with the exception of destabilization/espionage). True minor races do have an high starting influence resist. ~SDC~

'Hey Brad: I would love to get Drengin, but I live in Germany and have no credit card.' They do have other options, but last I checked, any cheques or money orders would have to be drafted in US dollars. There is/was be a page with an order form for mail orders on Stardock.com somewhere, but given that it predates Drengin.net you'll probably have to write in the product number and price yourself when you fill it out. ~SDC~
