I just pretend its an immense, frame-shaped nebula Heh, that might not be a bad idea. Have large nebulae (not THIS size, but, say, 1/2 a parsec) that sensors are ineffective in. Good place to run to if pursued, or even hide a nice big battlefleet ; on the flip side, freighters going through it often get ambushed by pirates. Great idea! But the hard part would be having the AI taking advantage of it. It would be too much cheese if the AI wasn't

Im not sure that you can....at least i have never discovered it anyways.
Anyways, heh, maybe before randomly experimenting on buttons you might save, just in case. Yep. A quick CTRL + S, before any "unknowns" has saved me from more than a few tight spots, and i have my autosave set to every turn. It doesn't take any time to save at all really and saves your ass if you get lots of CTD's. I have seen a similar bug once, in the original build. I was tech trading with the Yor and as soon as i selected my tech to put on t
For example, a doom ray (22 points) and a laser (6 points) hits my frigate with 10 points of shield defense. The doom ray would do only half damage (11 points) but would knock out the shield for that round and doing 1 hp to the hull, allowing the laser to do the full 6 points to the hull hp's. I like this. This solution seems to overcome the problem without too many sideffects. It seems to me this might be moddable as a trial run? <a href="http:
Will replacing the music files trip the cheat flag in the Metaverse? Kryo?
Congrats Marshall! We'll have the Orcas on the table and ready to eat when you get back!!
To add insult to injury, after spending the extra cash on the Gold Edition, it finally came in the mail the other day (I'm in Australia) and it wasn't even packaged securely. There was no bubble wrap to protect the box, and as a result it is torn and damaged. And on top Stardock will not pay to have the item sent back to them. It is at my cost they say! They will replace the item itself but i foot the postage bill. They even go so far as to say because i live in Australia i sh
“So, is an eighteen good?” Does a bear shit in the woods? Great, great read. Love it.
Wow! I have been a member for some time now, after a gracious invite from Alex, but i had no idea that we had such a great community as this. Looking forward to taking the number 2 spot from the orcas and going after the diplomats. This thread goes in the watchlist.
Why are you picking at this story? Read and enjoy it, the individual nuances and facts/events in the story are Silverbeacher's and should not be questioned. Look at it this way, when your read a novel, do you write/email the author to clear up or discuss parts of the book? Read and enjoy, it looks like it will be a fantastic tale.
From Wikipedia, "To date, no fusion reactor has come close to producing net output power" So I'm guessing that's a no. It is still in experimental stages of development. Do you mean fission? That we have.
Hey Popcorn! How are you putting the high command pic in your post? Wouldn't mind having that myself.
It seems Arilias has inspired us both. I am enjoying reading all the aar's out there and this one and Upon a sea of stars are among my favorites, previous to arilias' 1st upon a sea of stars, i didn't give any attention to them (aar's). Nice job, in the watchlist it goes!
Wyndstar, i don't really have a comment either way regarding your solutions. That solutions are needed is agreed. I would though, like to commend you on your dedication to the game we all love. To write such a long and in depth post, obviously took a lot of thought and determination. Kudos to you! It is posters like your self that keep this game improving as the devs listen very hard to what is said.
at least I'm not the only one to have done this.
Feud pretty much covered it all, i will say though, on a gigantic map with maxed out planets and other civs, even a 64mb card will have trouble, it'll work sure, but it will lag. For a better game experience i would go for a 128mb card and increase your page file to at least 2gig if you have the space. If buying a new card go bigger again, i'm running the 7600gt 256mb and it is really sweet. If you can hold back from the big maps and plenty of planets for a while your 64mb card should hold out t
Cool! Great to see this back. Looking forward to the continuation of the story.
Wow... shouldn't someone delete this thread? I mean seriously... Yep this needs to be deleted. Or perhaps the op can edit the sensitive stuff out?
alliance victory requires becoming allies with everybody best way is to buy the alliances=money Actually i have found giving them techs is more useful. As for the tech victory, shut down your production planets and replace them with Stock Exchanges and NLC's/Discovery Sphere's. Just keep your Manu Cap as your major production planet. The BC's you will save from getting rid of your Industrial Sectors plus the extra BC's from the SE's will get yo
Yes, it is hard to turn something off when you have no way to know that it should be turned off. Not sure how i can put this more clearly, read the manual! Where did you get this idea that what the people on this board "asked for" somehow is more important than game balance, fun, and an experience that *scales according to difficulty level*? Simply because the unbalancing of the game is exactly what was
Speaking as a new player... TURN THESE THINGS OFF BY DEFAULT! I agree they should be off as default, but is it that hard for any player new or old to simply turn it off? It is not going to ruin your game experience by having to dis-select the Mega Events. Again, it is your opinion that these evens are "just utter rubbish", yea a 505 battleship on your doorstep would be a pain, but what a challenge too! There are players out the
danielost, it is no-one's intention to label you anything, but of course this is about good players and even better players. I wouldn't say anyone is a bad player, but that some are better than others. Is that a sleight at you, no. As Feud has pointed out your posts have missed the point entirely. You continue to post about how difficult/unbalanced/unfair the mega events are and how you cannot find the solution, to the point that you just gave up. You posting that the events are too ha
Maybe... what if queuing up ships shortens the build time? If a starport produces, say, a freighter, and is scheduled to make four, the starport will already be producing parts for a freighter. Ten percent of the total turns would be taken off of the time to build. For example, the freighter will take 20 turns. The next three will only take 18. Nice idea. Maybe add a Trade Good or a Galactic Wonder called "Advanced Production", which allows queing as des
some kind of warning that you have a huge recession on your hands danielost, if you require a warning saying your economy is headed down the toilet, then you should really be turning the Mega Events off and maybe kicking yourself down to normal difficulty or lower. You would be better off getting your head around the easier aspects of the game before jumping in to something that you are ill equipped to deal with, and then trashing the features
Well at the expense of getting really hammered i'd like to say, Bit late don't you think!! This is exactly what i wanted when buying DA, i was happy downloading and waiting for the disc in the mail, but then i learned there would be no box for DA just the disc in a jewel case. Being anal i like having the box on my shelf, and the DA "posters" you were displaying on the site looked really cool. So after double checking that there indeed would not be a retail box shipped out, i
