Wow. Are there that many players that don't like the Altarians too? Their attitude usually annoys me during sandbox games. At first I thought that it would be the Drengin and Yor that will be destroyed, but... they're pretty much the bad guys in the GalCiv universe, so at least one of the two has to remain. It would make more sense for the allies of the Terrans to be destroyed during a desper

I only use high-speed cargo hulls as scouts, survey ships, and the like before I get Eyes of the Galaxy. After that, I just pump out the assault ships and transports. Of course, that doesn't really answer the original poster's question.

I usually do that for planets with many tiles and a 100% or 300% Farm bonus. I don't build too many Stock Markets though. It's just more effective if you have a high population to get taxes from. On my current one, I have an Economy Capital on there and the Evil building that raises it by 100%, with a few Stock Markets to round it out. Population cap is 27 B, but it takes a while to get there since I use it for my transports.<img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=

Something similar happened to me too. One of my ships was completed on a planet near my homeworld, and I had it move to a rally point. Later when I checked, it hadn't moved at all and it had 0 movement. I just traded it to an ally and after a turn or two, it started to move.

I don't think paying $9 for a package of hull/ship pieces is the problem, but rather, some people would prefer gameplay improvements rather than more stuff to play around with. If this package would have no impact on the content of the expansion pack, which would contain improvements and the like, then I don't think it's much of a problem. The people who want more stuff to play with can get this, and those who don't really care for it can just hold off on it or ignore it. I think some

I would like multi-player in GalCiv2, because it would really make the gameplay more interesting than what it currently is, especially on a tactical level. The negative side of multi-player for turn-based games like this is that it's very difficult to ever finish a game. I wouldn't really mind a "hot-seat" multi-player or a LAN version, but if it's just against random people over the net, that might be a problem. If each game wasn't so time-consuming, multi-player would be a given, but with the

I think I'm close to finishing my first Gigantic map, thanks to the save crashes being taken care of. It's somewhat easy though. All AI's are on Intelligent and I've already taken out the Altarians while the Iconians were wiped out by the Drengin and Yor. Currently cutting through the large tracts of Arcean territory. I was not the aggressor in any of the conflicts though. I did ally with the Drengin, Korx

I noticed that when I disabled Full Screen, the game began to search my DVD drive when I started up the game. When I had no disc in there, it would continuously ask me to insert a disc and give me the usual three options when a disc fails to be detected. After clicking 'cancel' a few times, the game starts, but the message box still appears in-game. This is all taken care of when I insert the CD, but since the CD shouldn't be needed, I figured that this was probably a bug of some kind.

Well, hey, they've got their Entertainment Centers. Thing's also get somewhat better for them once they get the higher forms of government. It would be better for them if they had a choice to join in on Intergalactic conquests, via a standing military, or to just sit back as a non-combatant. So only a percentage of the population fights.<img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border

Is there an e-mail address that we can send the SmartException reports to for these test builds? The last time I just sent it to [email protected], but it suggested that I should send it to [email protected] the next time. I think that was the address though. Anyway, can I just send it to either one or is there a more specific one that it should go to?

Dreadlords suck butt. Anyway, in the two sandbox games that I've played, I've always been situated next to the Drengin, out of NINE other opponents. The first one was a medium map, and they were peaceful for a while... but since I hadn't built up too many defenses yet, they declared war on me. They surro

It's early tech for the early portions of the game. Without it, you may not be able to find the most prospective area to head for first. It seems like it's better to head for a system with more planets which may possibly be colonizable, rather than going to the star system which has only one planet.

^ Or that too. I did notice that your way is less violent and demands less blood to be spilled that way. Gee, why didn't I think of that.

The issue with the Altarians invading you, they probably used Mass Drivers or some other invasion tech to cut down on the effectiveness of your troops. That would explain why they were able to take out your 5000m planet. The Torians seem to be masters at population and morale. In my current game, the only one who rivals them in influence are the Altarians. Oh, and another possibility may be that you're not using your production to its fullest potential, meaning you still ha

Well, the spy could be a SUPER spy who'll also take out all of the scientists who were involved with the research and he'll also go the length to destroy that information and everything that came from that particular research. Sort of like James Bond on crack and steroids. *laughs at the thought of a crazed James Bond crackhead*

Actually, for some, they only need three steps. Load, save, crash. It seems to work pretty well, although it does have the side-effect of causing frustration, but... it seems to be a nice trade-off for your life, social or otherwise, am I right?

Searched, but did not find anything. Anyway, I've noticed that after I load a game, ships that are upgrading lose their icon on the tactical display. I can zoom in and the ship will still be there, it's just the icon that disappears after I zoom out. Also, it seems like the icons may be incorrect after upgrading. Instead of the medium+ hull icons remaining the same, they turn into small hull icons. Just thought that I would mention this.

The description for the orbital terraformer is a bit misleading. All it does is instantly upgrade all yellow, orange, and red tile to green on all your planets and any planets you colonize or otherwise aquire. So what you saw in the game is what is intended. The PQ bonus is applied when you research the upgrade techs. It is a percentage increase so higher PQ pla
