[quote] The UK added letters to words to get higher scores in scrabble. LMAO. Ohhhhh The urge to comment on that one is chewing me up... But on that note, I'm interested to hear if anyone has a plausible reason as to why the English language lost a number of letters when it sailed across the pond. Tis a subject I've never really looked into when it has crossed my mind. <b

Life in the Forums? Well, there is an interesting Fungus growing over in the AAR section and rumor has it that a bizzare cockroach-rat hybrid species has taken up residence under the floorboards of Off-Topic.
It is just a random rant generator.
Bummer. It's a 24 hour period. If I order the cd will all those files, including the movies, be on it? It will have the initial version, not the current version. But, updating to the current version doesn't require downloading nearly as much a a full install. Also, The main game file didn't simply download, it installed. How can I get all these files so I can save them to a dvd? In SDC
Varis, nice post. A few specific, targeted responses : Industrious Bug races have been around in SciFi for far longer than the MoO series. There is warning of planets being in danger of flipping through influence - both a popup when it first enters the danger zone, and an icon (red skull-and-bones) on the planet on the map. When you look at the planets info, look at the IP (Influence Points) entry. It will be 2 numbers. The one in Parenthesis () is the ratio of foreign influenc
2)For me at least, putting RTS elements into a future version of GalCiv is the surest way to ensure that the company doesn't see another dime of my money. That 'feature' is exactly why I won't even look at SW:EaW. In case you haven't guessed by now, I find the whole RTS genre to be unbearable garbage. I don't understand, if you don't want to play "RTS feature" you can just sel
1)This is a holiday weekend in the USA, plus you allowed only 37 Mins since your first post. It isn't surprising that there has been little activity. 2)For me at least, putting RTS elements into a future version of GalCiv is the surest way to ensure that the company doesn't see another dime of my money. The galaxy isn't infinite. Nor is the universe Bad Joke: So if the universe isn't infinite, wouldn't that imply that it is finite and thus has an end to it. Where would that be? Is there a sign saying, "The universe ends here"? If so, I wonder what would happen if one crossed that line. Ha Ha Ha end of bad joke The
Later techs should be fine. Impossibletech is a prereq for the one you are giving the race for free. It isn't a prereq for anything after that tech. I haven't actually tried it, but based on my observations of how the system works in game I feel it is safe to say that only prereqs that are specifically listed for a given tech are considered and not anything it is a prereq for thos prereqs. But, if the aliens manage to steal or buy that specific tech from you, they WILL get
1 Parsec = 3.26 Light Years (actually slightly more, but I don't rememeber beyond 2 decimal places off the top of my head)
That leads me to another aspect of the game that I'd like to discuss: alignments. Does anyone else choose all the Evil choices, then buy himself redemption for a pittance? I do that quite often when presented with tempting bonuses. It seems to be a little... cheap. I try to stay in character with my race's alignment (most of the time), but there's no way I can pass up a 50
We landed on the moon! I know Americans love to call the moon landings fake (even though its THEIR OWN achievement!) but they arent. And on an unmanned note, Voyager1 and 2 are currently on their way out of our solar system, let alone orbit of the planet. Maybe you are refering to colonies... in which case then yeah. The moon is still within Ea
I would *definitely* buy GalCiv2 Expansion, if the developers can implement something like below: 1 (and and its subsections) : See the game Stars!. 2 eh... 3 Possibly Good, but quite difficult do well. 4 Other than performance issues, sure.. 4a the game already does the battles automatically 5.
Stardock makes the english version, then they ship it to their european distributor who is responsible for translation and distribution of the patch.
The in-game content from the collectors edition is included free in the later patches, so if you have updated you already have it.
I will certainly be ordering it in the near future. It all looks good to me.
Spyware writers and distributors should be killed. In a slow, very painful manner.
Given the following facts, I think it is safe to conclude that it is an issue with your computer, and in no way connected to the game or its installer. 1)No such file exists on the CD 2)No such file can be found in the finished install directory 3)No such file is referenced in the autorun.inf or accessed by autorun.exe
It changes the number of weeks that you have to pay when you chose one of the BUY (Ship/Improvement) options that require time-payments
This is one small area where the CivIV AI does a much better job. And that particular algorithm could easily be adapted to GalCiv. 1)Is there an Anomally nearby (and the ship is Survey equiped)? If so, go grab it. 2)Otherwise head to the closest unexplored spot. Recheck each turn.
I votes Yes, though the lack of protection was only 1 factor in my purchase. The presence of StarForce or something similar would have resulted in no purchase, but the lack thereof is not inherently sufficient to cause me to buy the game - it also had to look as if it would be much fun. It did, and it is.
Hmm, actually I think they only made the "collectors edition" goodies available to the first run/shipped boxes. No, from 1.0D onward the bonus content is a part of the basic game. At this point the only differences between Collector and Regular are: 1)The box 2)The Tech Tree sheet that is included in the Collector's Edition. <br
They made the additional content available to anyone who patches, so it doesn't really matter at this point.
I've never seen one where the Good option was better than Evil, but I have seen Good better than Neutral (was a modest penalty for chosing Neutral and an almost non-existant one for good).
So was Theodore Roosevelt evil for declaring war on the Japonese and then sending troops to fight Germany and Italy? Yes, I know of the Axis powers. That was Frankiln D., not Theodore... Off by over a quarter century there (1901-1909 for Teddy, 1933-1945 for Franklin).
