One of the starbase technologies says you can make a starbase into a flagship I guess you are referring to the Starbase Conquest Strategy at the end of the Starbase Defenses tree: (From Galactopedia) Enabl

Being creative does help you randomly get a tech for free, from what iv had its the next tech in line from what you research and it happens just as you research that tech, I was researching mass drivers III and instantly got mass driver IV upon completion. I had this happen to a few more techs as well so i do assume thats creativity and not just random. As for luck I know
The main one i can see at present is to get the 'make Homeworld' button actually work To prevent cheese, the conversion of initial colony to civ capital should consume social points as well, like how we upgrade other buildings. One desired feature that I see frequently requested and I think won't need too much resource to do is to al
excellent strategies, veblen! If a planet has 20 production remaining to complete a ship (or building), but 50 military (or social) production, then the difference (30) will be wasted and (I think) you will be charged for it. This, unfortunately, rewards micromanagement so much that it's a big part of how I play suicidal. Resources spent on research in excess of
er... it's "negotiate". no, not griping abt echelon's post - you can mispell to the death if you want in a forum post - but to have a typo in a display poster really makes my eyes twitch.
I thought starbases had to be 3 parsecs away, how did you get them so close to each other? the "at least 3 parsecs away" rule has been changed to "at most 4 starbases in a sector" rule in v1.1...
right click on the new ship alert icon that falls down the right edge of the screen, it will automatically launch that brand new ship.
You can find an individual ship by using ship list, 1st icon bottom left. Change from planets to ships, cycle thru to find said ship. Once you find it in the list, some sort of clicking (right clicking, or maybe triple left clicking ) will generally get you centered on said ship.... you can sort the ship list using "moves left".
yes it shows up in the trade menu, after you got the alliance tech and your relationship with the civ is high enuff. gifting only works a couple of times per year, according to the change logs. also, gifts would be much more appreciated in desperate times, e.g. giving them ships when they are losing in a war with another civ. some other ways to increase a civ's relations to you: - increase your diplomatic skill - send freighters to their colonies. you don't need t
Ooooo, one last gripe: why on earth is everything in the game sorted alphabetically rather than by type? It drives me nuts to hunt through a list of ships merely because my small ship was named "alpha," say, in one game, and "spear" in another. And in the social production list, it's crazy to have the order change throughout the game. which is
Sounds really intriguing... one thing i can see though, it will need a lot of play testing & code readjustments to ensure AI can use 'em well.
seems like to implement this would need serious restructuring of the codes, imho.
BTW is there a place in the program where it shows what patch you are using? main screen menu, bottom left.
No need for translation if we're talking about Singapore and Malaysia, we are comfortable enough with English here
hey prozombe, mine's only *slightly* better than you... 1.79 Ghz Pentium M, on IBM Thinkpad T42... yep, quitting takes a couple minutes, zooming in and out even on medium maps takes abt 30 secs to load between 2D & 3D objects, and ships tend to "teleport" a lot during battle sequences... but nevertheless, it's what's underneath that ultimately counts...
oooh... worm holes... triggered one idea: have one tech deep in propulsion branch, called "gate jump" or sth. it will unlock a starbase "gate jump" module, that upon installation, will allow you teleport ships between all starbases that has that module. gotta have some limitations of course, like limit jumps maximum xx logistic points worth of ships per turn/month (upgradeable with extra gate modules), and requiring per turn bc expenditure to mantain... i wonder how much AI
Am wondering... what features of Galciv1 that didn't make it over to Galciv2? also am curious... I believe that the clamoring for multiplayer also happened during Galciv1's era... how far did Stardock go with the idea?
Yarlen, a curious Q... if the answer's confidential, then tell me, i'm ok with it. what do you look for when you wanna ship to Asia? what terms? Not to give any hopes yet, but I am from Malaysia and I might ask around to look for interested distributor. I am especially interested to introduce your concept of no-copy-protection to these masses and see their reaction to it. Fistleaf & Darth Baboon, perhaps for now you have to settle for direct download only from Stardock Cent
fixed in what way? it seems like a valid strategy to me...
Heh, my homeworld *starts* with a high pop, but after colonization it's usually pretty depleted, even with the new patch version. i guess it's a balancing thing... one one hand, we can fully load our colony ships and give the new planets a good headstart at pop growth... on the other hand, we can partially load them, and have enough pop in the
or we could give him a couple of our diplomatic techs...
i would say that on low PQ planets, we can't gain much profit from them. i.e., the cost of building entertainment centers and commerce centers give less bang for the buck compared to when they are built on higher PQ (like 10+) planets, what with the lower pop cap and all. Thus, I tend to let the low PQ planets to be my research outposts, since RP accumulate over the whole empire, unlike the localized MP generations. If I find the research buildings to take too long to build, i may build a factor
hey psio, i thought it would cost less to do it the way you've been doing? or wait a minute, you mean you don't care abt the extra cost, as long as it's less of a hassle?
psio, be prepared to be sucked into countless hours of suspension-of-real-life-activities... cartons of soda... check. bags of snacks... check. auto-feed-the-dog-a-day machine... check. put any more good stuff in galciv2, and somebody might start to prop their desktop in front of the toilet... I hope that's not gonna be me.
