bump. Am I the only one that feels this is a problem or is there a good way already there that no one has bothered to tell me.

Another item I have seen and believe it is not saved is the indication that you have sent a colony ship to an uncolonized planet. It has a red shade to it in the game but seems to be lost if you save and reload prior to the ship getting to the planet. One other thing I have noticed seems to go with the terraforming comment above is that I put a farm on a terraformed tile. After saving, the farm did not put anything out. It was there but the total for the planet did not include it.
Hopefully there is a better way to do what I am complaining about. If so, please let me know. If not, this would improve the game signifcantly from my perspective. I would like to select a ship and then just click on the planet or starbase in the planet/ship list to go to that location. This would be most helpful in my opinion when you are colonizing, building/upgrading starbases or attacking. Its not so important with smaller maps but certainly helps as you start having alot of colonies an
your post was described as a rant, and it was an apt description. you make excellent points, but they would have been better conveyed had you taken the time to do a few things. constructing sentences with clarity helps. using italicization to add emphasis rather than capitals is good too. i type in all lower case; it's an aesthetic choice meant to convey thoughtfulness and
I don't completely disagree with the idea that the number of tiles comes into play as well as there are improvements beyond the increase in production that are gained when you research higher level things. My complaint is that they go too far. Case in point is Manufacturing Centers vrs Enhanced Factories - 14 to 16 Ind Pts for a doubling of cost. Thats too much.
OK, never mind. If you start the game and choose Update Serial it will list your current serial number. DUH! edit: somehow I got a double post. Not real sure how.

Is there a way to get your serial number from the installed game as I accidentally put the CD case in my briefcase and left it in another vehicle?
There is no doubt in most geek's minds that Windows does not handle memory clean up as well as the competition. Out of curiosity, who is the competition and how do they do it better?
The poll needs another selection. Not having copy protection was a significant part of the decision to buy but it was not the only reason.
yes!, i prefer the tech tree in moo2, you research a tech box with 2-3 tecs, but you can only choose one of them, it would be nice! you can still choose the most important tech for you and then if you want the other two you need to refresh your diplomacy and hope the AI have them. That was one of the few things in MOO2 that I disliked. I hated
There are a lot of good ideas in the forum for improvements to the game. Unless I am missing it, there is not a good way to list them all in a single place. I would think it would be good for the developers to go to one place for a list of improvements/suggestions with some order of preference to them. Is there a way we do this without creating a monster?
Mine is a label stuck to my jewel case
p22: Nice post. It explains numerically what I had seen in the game and why I have changed my strategy to not invest research into the later buildings until much later in the game. I sometimes shake my head when I read posts in this forum. Some don't understand what they are responding to and others assume you are taking pot shots at the game. p22 is not saying the tech tree is not improved, he is saying some of the costs for advanced buildings are out of line based on what they p
I would like to see a ship queue and if you have left over production on the first ship, it is just applied to the second ship very similar to the way technology works now. If there is not a second ship in the queue, the overage is cashed into the bank.
You have run into the memory issue that has caused a lot of problems with V 1.1. Look at the two lines 10 lines from the bottom. The end of a buffer was overrun and it caused an assertion error. They are currently working on a solution but it is not available yet. Last I heard, they were hoping to get it out during May but no actual date as yet.

On the issue of mass drivers and the speed of light, you have not considered one thing and may not know another. First is if current theory (relative theory that is) is correct, you cannot even reach the speed of light as Einstein says that mass increases with velocity. As you approach the speed of light, mass approaches infinity which requires infinite energy to accelerate which is obviously impossible. So even reaching the speed of light cannot happen. The other part you miss out on is tha
Alfb, we're using C/C++, and our build environment is Visual Studio .NET 2003. While the middle of a project is usually not the time for an upgrade, has anyone considered Visual Studio .NET 2005? While I am not aware of any improvement that specifically target Heap Fragmentation, there may be. Also, have you considered statically allocating
Alfb - Yup, it's being investigated, but the v1.2 patch won't be ready for a few weeks yet. Thanks Yarlen. I appreciate the hard work you guys are putting in. I also realize that things like this don't get fixed overnight. Maybe the next day!
Every game out there could always use "more work". The difference is that Stardock is providing "more work" that they don't need/have to provide Xan, for the most part I agree with what you are saying. But you need to think about the don't need/have to provide. What you are saying to everyone is that the current state of the game is acceptabl
Another entry for Stupid Crook News!
Cari, out of curiosity, what platform are you guys developing Gal Civ2 on? I assume C++ and that probably means Visual C++. What version? The main reason I ask is because of the points Vulcannis brings up. It also brings up some memories of improvements in Garbage Collection that have been made in later versions. os2wiz: You just don't get it. I agree that Stardock should have thought to test at the recommended config but that does not justify the way you state it.
I had the same problem, though all I did was upgrade RAM. Deleting the .bin file eventually resolved the issue. You can upgrade RAM without having to do anything about the activation. I have done it several times. <TD class="mb-Body-Quote-
Hey don't give ManOWar2 such a hard time. He is right. Either allow it or remove the text. Since the manual never seems to keep up with the changes being made to the game, you need to be able to rely on data being given to you from the game. Part of playing the game is knowing the rules and trying to figure out which text is right and which is wrong makes things a lot tougher in a bad way.
