Part 4 – Descent into darkness Nothing could stop the Drengin. The week after Alteria fell, another planet was subsumed into the Drengin culture. Their awesome soldiering prowess meant defence was almost impossible. Our ships were still hopelessly out classed even with the new shielding techniques stolen from the Yor. The one remaining pocket of strength we had was around Sauron. Ironically we had been winning the battle against the Yor, but it was impossible to fight on two

Part 3 – Rearguard Action The first sightings of enemy ships on our southern borders caused panic. We sent an emissary to the Iconians to ask for peace. They gratefully accepted. They had just two minor planets left and their civilization was in ruins, brought to them by their trusted “friend”. We counted the Yor and Drengin worlds. We had 10 planets the Yor had 7 and the Drengin 11. Sensors scanned the incoming fleets. The Yor had similar ships to our fleet (just many m
(Large Map – everything abundant - Masochistic – no Ctl +N – no tech trading). This is the story of how the Altarians conquered the galaxy but lost their soul. Part 1 – The Crossroads of Fate. The election had been a landslide, our Popularist policies of free love and understanding (which we knew would boost our population and morale beyond all previous levels) had found almost unanimous approval with a cynical electorate. Our first day in office was a swirling
Master U No one has more points per game on medium than you do. The gigantic maps allow huge populations... not sure how you've managed such high ones on medium.
Sorry Master U I can't see how that adds up. I've played almost clones of what you are suggesting, I play 70% boost to pop, Build Aphrodisiac asap, even play Universalists and the pop does not grow that quickly. Either you've found a bug or you are purposely breaking something. How many planets have you got on your medium map? There is a limit of 100M people on each planet (and getting up that high is really tricky as you need 100% approval to keep the growth going).
You asked for our MV strategies... which I tried to answer as well as I could. You've obviously found a way to score that no one else has. So how are you doing it?
@Quixen Good post. Evil rocks in this game.
There is no scale involved in the pictures. Drengim may be less than 1 mm tall... Anyone who has read Douglas Adams will know that one race's entire invasion fleet can be swallowed by one small dog on another planet
I used to think that Drath and Yor were really overpowered... However morale is so key to the game I find the Torian and Drengin bonuses in this area to be adequate compensation.
I stick to mediums. Cos anything bigger just takes too long on my laptop... In terms of scoring then the bigger the better the overall score. You can NEVER get into the top 10 with mediums no matter how many or how well you play.
@Master U You don't need weapon techs early on just planetary invasion. During "planet grab" the AI rarely if ever defends planets and you can turn out transports while others are turning colony ships out... That way you plan to get there second and take over a half or fully built planet. Again boosting your economy. Try to keep track of the order the AI colonizes and work through their planets in the same order... Get there too early and there is nothing to steal. Get there too late
Stop looking for realism. 500M of your troups land on a strange alien planet and then a few weeks later there are 5B of them. I know all the guff about taxpayers evading taxes... Apparently you only need to feed the taxpayers the indigenous population (all those non taxpayers) seem to live on ice or rocks.
Most important thing to know is what map size... If you want help on medium maps I can try and give advice but I know that each map size plays very differently and therefore the priorities change. The guys scoring 200K a shot are all on gigantic. I'm more 20-30K on medium. Any of this may be wrong. However this is what I believe is true. From what I can gather the scoring is really crude... It is based on 1. population (look at getting pop growth as a starte
I just got mine... all nice and shiny it is... P.s. You don't need to do the custom race to getthe medal. I seem to remember someone on here asking that a few weeks back.
Tis my niece. Lovely girl... Guess the euphoria has dies down now... This metaverse thing is v strange. I can have 2 almost identical games... where one scores almost twice the other.... Wish I knew what I was doing.
I'm top of the medium universe players!!! For today at least. Don't think I've ever been top of the world, no matter how many conditions/filters have been applied! This Mv thing is addictive. I know my scores will age away... but at least I'm top of something for a day at least. How many others of you can filter enough to be top? I bet a fair few! Well I'm off to bed a v happy boy...
When I have a dilemma about a certain tactic I often think if I was on the opposite end of this would I like it. Applying this logic I will never pre-emptively have defence only ships. (Maybe I might rush build one to protect an outlying colony but never have them just sitting there eating up resources). The AI does it all the time and it shows how poor this tactic is. They often have 3 times the military strength but they are spread across 20 planets doing effectively not
DreadArchon Even on big maps it allows an immediate heading for planetary invasion and taking out any near neighbours capitol about 15-20 turns in. This is huge... as it is impossible for a civ to recover from this even on suicidal... and you have the bonus of a developed planet with no cost!!! It also give you growing room, as your neighbour is transformed into an impotent weakling in one turn. It actually protects you from a early war which would damage your long term growt
Each century has had its own version of "reality". Only for the next one to expose their reality as naive. I've no proof that this century is any different than those before it. Our problem is we work with models to help understanding. But a model of something is not the thing itself.
Reading the title I thought it sounded a good name for a rock group.
Galacticus I think there are only 2 strategies which work... 15B or as much as you can. The worst stopping point is 25B. You have all the pain and none of the gain. If you can keep 25B people happy then you can keep 100B happy. Having said that 15B is much easier to manage but the other route can be fun if you are a little warped. Trade is based on planet population so if you are a trader (I'm not) then there is a reason to get at least one planet with ri
Maybe we agree with you Seebs but the developers don't. It is not a bug... It is the way they planned it... mixed up, yes, but not buggy. In any case depending on the size of the map there are more things to consider than those starting bonuses. If you set your initial relationships (so you can see all races), and use the custom races picks to select Universal Translators, then you can get tech trade all the starting techs of all the races before making your first move. Ther
@NerdzRool81 Pls don’t assume something is useless just because you don’t understand it or the description is totally incorrect. As a hint look at your economy before and after building the Mind Control Center… I think you may be pleasantly surprised. Personnally I don't use tiny hulls either... but I know they can stack well with certain logistics values.
Suicidal gives you a mountain to climb at the start. It is however still using the same AI which is certainly beatable.
I must admit I like turning the tech off... For no other reason than each race gets to be unique. With tech trading on, everyone ends up having a sort of generic strategy, a bit of weapons, a bit of infrastructure, a bit of defence. With it off the Dengim and Yor forgo the infrastructure and defences and head for weapons and planetary invasion, the good races tend to go for planetary improvements, which in turn leads to a better economy and such. This imbalance causes a dynamic that is interes
