BoogieBac, can you comment on why it is so much more to upgrade all ships at once than to do them one at a time? (https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=119082&cmd=myposts#919042)

e-stab is right. I just tried upgrading 2 ships on the same tile. Individually, it would cost 150 - together it cost 324...
The fact that it hasn't been fixed/commented on makes me wonder if the devs did it deliberatly - but I really can't see why they would do that. The only remote reason for it would be to give the ai a (slight) advantage due to its micromanaging ability - the ai could happily upgrade all its ships one by one whereas the player is forced to 'pay' to not have to go through the tedious micromanagement, clicking and hunting down old ships. = effectively the Ai gets cheaper upgrades <br
I absolutly love the game but the upgrade policy is something I can't get my head round and really really annoys me. For those of you who don't know what it is - when you upgrade a ship and decide to upgrade all of that class at the same time by using the "upgrade all" button, it will cost you around 30% extra than if you upgraded all the ships one by one. Now, I had always assumed this was a bug and an annoying one at that is it meant a lot of extra useless clicking around
I havn't been able to find the Ai intensive option either when I looked for it Makris. Can anyone say exactly where it is? Also Frogboy, any comment on how it is way more expensive to upgrade all ships at once than do it individually?
Has the upgrade bug been fixed where it costs way more to upgrade all your ships at once than to do them individually?
I just dont think any single random event should have the ability to completly and utterly change the whole game. Also it makes the game too easy and stops weapon specialisation being as important - later on in the game, you will more than likely have stolen high techs for all weapon and shield types.
Cavemen, for example, didn't understand the mechanics involved with gravity, but knew that driving a bunch of mammoths off of a cliff onto a spike pit killed them Point granted Marcathonas but give a caveman a submarine or a fighter plane and I wonder how useful they would find it. Or, if we on Earth captured any basic ship from Gal Civ, I doubt we
One thing still bugs me after the amazing patch- the random techs that you get when you capture a planet. I just feel that it messes up the game slightly to get an uber tech that you are no where near researching. Getting the top weapons off the dreadlords in the campaign for instance completly changes it (for the worse imo) My idea to improve it would be to make it so that when you invade a planet and capture a tech - you can only capture a tech that is available for you t
Its actually crashing - DLing smart exception now and Il send it along in a bit
When playing the game, the game will often crash to desktop randomly and this happens fairly often. Anyone got any ideas why? (It seems to be worse since 1.1 but was happening a bit in the beta as well) (Not sure what the serial number bit is about - its always been there despite the game being validated via stardock etc) Debug as follows: Debug Message: Version v1.1 last updated on: Mon Apr 24 19:03:49 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debu
No idea what that means - it has always been there since I installed it. Copy is validated and everything though :S Problem seems to be "Error flipping back buffer to primary buffer"

Just got the game (uk normal ed) and want to update to beta. However ,my serial number isn't accepted by stardock. I can however use it to download the 1.0X version off the website. How can I make stardock accept it? p.s. the code converter doesn't work for me
