haha, i find that if you research xeno-ethics, you dont get the fanatics thingy popping up. Some random events seem linked to the galaxy, ie, economic boom happened when the whole galaxy was suffering economy-wise, reproductive rate happened when at least 2-3 races were low on population and had lots of room for more. (sadly, I rarely invest in farming, with exceptions to production worlds in some cases so they can produce a few troop transports, then just send them out with 1 troop t

I mentioned something like this back when we were in beta 2 but I guess frogboy didnt take it to heart
I routinly play challenging and above in large galaxies. What I do is put on at least 4 engines, usually 4 on most of my ships, unless its a fighter. then i load the rest with weapons until its max, and if at all posible, i put on armor/life support, depending on how spread out i am and need range. Thus, this allows me to be NASTY with the enemy, using guerilla tactics almost all the time, ie, hit and run, hit and run, hit and run, until he has no more ships, then go on a rampage destroying the
Call me stupid, but do I have to sign up to download your files? Because I just dont see the download.... (If I do have to sign up, screw that)
I use mini soldiers most, the only exceptions are when I'm versus an enemy that I'm not sure I'm able to keep the planet, then I use tidal.
granted my weapons tech was vastly superior You coulda made little gnat fleets with superior weapons and owned them so hard.... but if you had EQUAL weaponry, I doubt you could have done as well, or at least, you'd have been replacing the smaller ships a lot more often. As for above,
Actually, I'm testing out only tiny ship stragety, with the exception being troop transports, etc.. so far in the game, my tiny ships now have 50 hp note, i started at basic tech levels, playing on challenging difficulty with full map, and i've come across quite a few battleships, etc, but they just cant stand up to even a fleet of 5 of my tiny fighte
I understand that, but the primary point that I'm trying to make is that battleships are pretty much for all purposes and intent, gigantic fighters. They are no more powerful than fighters, and a fleet of 20 fighters > your three battleships... or even 5 battleships, even if your the one attacking. Sure, theyre paper, but theyre dirt cheap, and you can have SWARMS of them. Ever hear of the term strength in numbers? This holds true cause one
yup indeed, It's rather useless to actually research the survey thingy cause when you have researched they are all gone already. Except when you play with 2 on a galactic map but who does that? me <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Laugh.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle"
I just noticed this, don't know if it was put in with the new patch or was there all along but... When making a tiny fighter with the best weapon aviliable (I'll use the mass weapon as an example) It takes up 7 slots on the tiny fighter. So with max minaturization, I can put 2 black hole drivers, 4 hyperwarp III's, 1 life support (or sensor). With a battleship, the mass weapon takes up FOURTEEN slots. It does NO extra damage, is N
I'm talking about the BETA's the cheats just dont work with those, which sucks cause I dont get the nicer AI and stuff... its either cheat to see the rest of the mission (the final dreadlords mission is insanely tough o.0) or just forget about the campagain and just play meelee's... which kinda takes the fun out of them.
Doesnt seem to work for me, in either campagain nor normal games. Maybe this is cause I'm updated to the latest patches and it wont use cheats?
I'm having this issue as well, and my computer has 2.4 Ghz, 1 gb of RAM... doesnt take me 3 minutes to do a turn, but definitly takes a LONG time between turns in huge galaxies... One thing I think the program may be doing is its not erasing the RAM buffer, ie, you might be having RAM leakage.
