I found the problem after I got home from a wedding last night. Turns out my girlfriend downloaded a Norton update for me. The thing is I told everyone but her not to download that system pack 2. As a result the Windows half was entirely befuddled and I only realized it when I went to use a program other than Opera or Galactic Civ 2 and as I mainly use Linux (yay Penguins!) I never realized it. That one update was the cause of it all. Sorry for the trouble, everything works fine now.

The mods are no longer there but the problem is and as for the debug.err how do I do that?

Cannot run .exe for updates in Bug Reports GalCiv2 Forums

Every time I download and attempt to run any of the upgrades from the site or Stardock I get an error message stating that installation is corrupt. Prior to this I had downloaded and installed with no trouble the updates in question and never once had any issues or crashes until the game rather mysteriously ceased running this morning. I was going along as normal when the game crashed for the first time ever. After multiple tries, all of which ended with the game crashing upon leaving the me
