Agreed. It takes a long time for the individual ships to move on huge maps with 9 civs. I find that i could go to the bathroom and get snacks and come back...It'd be very useful if the next update could include an option to instant-move AI ships, with the exception of ships in the view.

I always remember Economy=Money=Tax. To get a good economy going, you need a huge tax base, which means you need a lot of tax payers (population). So when you get a new large world say class 18, i buy a factory, focus social, build factory, build entertainment centre, build 1 farm, build economic buildings. Then when the pop is maxed out, build more farms. Ferry your population around from your heavily populated planets to the new one so that it can grow faster.

I thought that during the turn the AI calculates how to play the game? So he's asking if he leaves for 30 minutes..will the AI take 30 minutes to think out its move? I remember reading somewhere that the AI in GC2 is multithreaded, when you're making your moves during your turn, it's calculating it's turn as well...so yes i do believe it will use those 30 minutes but i've never had any problems leaving the pc on for 30 mins while i eat or something..

I find that having a minimum standing space navy is enough to deter attacks usually. It doesn't matter that they move 2pc/turn...what matters is that they're there. They're just for show, not for real battle or anything... So just crank out a few of that 2 laser small ships and you'll deter invasion. This only works in the initial stages of the game ofc.
