I was messing around with this site from my dad's comp on a phone line. I was looking through the wallpapers and WinApm section and had to wade through a ton of crap as an unregistered user (not as bad with WinAmp, actually). When I set the rating filter on my account to something like 8, this site is REAL SHORT and REAL SWEET. It's great - the users rating this stuff know their s**t. It's 100% professional all the way. This is what the uninitiated should see. At least do t

My dad made me take a summer class programming the TI99/4A back in like 1981. It's been downhill ever since. I've got cartridges from my old Atari 2600 that have the year 1979 printed on them. Can you freakin' believe that? I still think I'm a kid... but then I was buying games in 1979. Yikes!

I preferred the Top Skins display at Skinz, i.e. where all the top skins were from a different category and there were fewer of them. I always bothered to look at the top skins list at skinz, but not here for some reason.

Suddenly all our skins have ratings. So YOUR winamp skin that you put so much work in and is getting so many downloads (it was heading for the top!) suddenly gets a 6 rating and disspaperas from most people's query results. Sunddenly your winskimp skin is getting 4 downloads a day as opposed to 80 d/ls per day, no exceptions. EVEN THOUGH THOSE 80 PEOPLE A DAY REALLY WANT YOUR SKINS, an algorithm that couldn't hold it's own with a gnat in a game of chess is making the descision that mo

While I agree with you in principle, I don't know if it works... what I mean is this: I rarely looked at sites like Deskmod because there was too much stuff. Even though the best stuff was probably on that site, I just didn't care to sift through it all. As far as judging what's the best artwork, that's not my point - I'd just like to see one skin site that's fast, simple and convinient. In other words, a site that's not about artwork, but about putting skins on my applications.

wincusto needs to plan ahead of time for filtering out the glut of skins that will come if they're not careful. I kind of like wincusto's clever scheme of soft-moderation where only certain users cant see a "moderated" wallpaper. And a typical user won't even notice that his WP has been MODDED. It seems to not be happening now though. What I'd like to experiment with is not moderation really; it's selection: we got a quota: you 2 get to stay for 2 months and prove yourselv

Aside from contributing a whole host of "passable" wall papers, how do I contribute to the community? I have my own webserver/site where I could host data/users to a limited extent. I could make news items. I could come up with motivational material for skinnerz (see the fish on my site) because skinnerz are just real people. OK, any serious suggestions? I'm more than happy to help out and interact. I like the fact that wincustomize encourages this. <b

Why I likes: 1) It's fast... no explination needed... right? 2) There's not many skins on the site. Explination: Other sites just don't seem to get this. Maybe it's just me, but when I see 8000 skins available for one app, I feel like a deer looking into oncoming headlights. I just tried this on another site. I noticed that there were very high-quality wallpapers there, but I got to preview like 3 out of 5000 in 5 minutes. I slinked off back to wincustomiz
