That's cool, maybe if it was set up so each admiral had different tactics available (and more as they themselves level if they were able to do so) would be cool too.

Well, this is kind of shooting early(researching and testing to make a more detailed post) but, You can embed groups (fleets, but I think it's maybe not the best term when dealing with this specific topic) within groups. Ships can belong to more than one group simultaneously, with each group having different fleet/engagement settings. I actually think the fleeting options are very open ended and can be made very complex if you look at them this way. Simpl
[quote who="Orodum" reply="8" id="1970151"] Quoting Duloth, reply 6 Big issues here; if a fleet is too small, it cannot overcome defenses. If the enemy has 7 hangar defenses, a repair bay, and a few turrets, then you need a fairly good fleet to break through. actually, you can have ore than one fleet in a gravity well, but it would encourage smaller fleets because of the hassle to move your entire strength at once. The Z axis is back, you do need to map a key to it from the default setting though.
The idea of Stardock releasing something from the MoO series... omg, I could just drool.
I checked my registration info and it looks okay. It does list the GC games I bought except for my first GC2 game, but that was a different account so I wouldn't expect it to show... the update downloaded fine, I tried it and it seems okay. Thanks for the reply though :) Just seemed a leftover just like you said. No worries... ... now back to taking over the galaxy for me muhahahaa :D
Hello, I just used Impulse to update DA, but it still shows the original GC2 as needing update. I also got a message telling me Impulse couldn't set up the download service due to my turning off most Windows services (Auto update etc) for performance purposes but it still allowed me to download a 2.7mb update for DA. It also told me my registration for the base GC2 had run out (??) but didn't say anything to that effect for DA. It still shows the base GC2 as needing
If you want to speed it up, help beta test it?
That's a great idea actually...
Hrm, where can I find the mIRC/IRC channel for Sins? I didn't know there was one to check.
I'll download this by the end of the weekend (band practice tonight), if you guys want an extra person in on multi message me with your online times and I'll do my best to hook up with you.
Well, overall I'm okay with their decision making... the games worth figuring out how to pay for online. I'm just distrustful of online transactions... used to be an Account manager for a credit card company, saw some nasty stuff go down :P
Annatar said it simply although others chimed in. These people are artists and deserve to get paid when they work. Please stop ranting about the economics of basically every game expansion that's ever been released. The only other reasonable alternative I see other than to not buy games is to put your words into action... design and code a game... market and publish it... then release free expansions for it on your own time.
Play against Hard or harder difficulty. Normal isn't very difficult to beat to be honest, best to turn up the heat once you get the feel for whatever race you're playing with.
So no retail release for the expansion then?
Sounds like more a lack of notifaction/organization... I know the community is split right now during the beta too, I'm sure that makes it more complicated.
I'm on the beta... PM me with hours and days and maybe we can work something out.
Perhaps a "move" command like what we have now, and also a "shift+move" command that is more a force move type that ensures the ship goes from point A to B in a straight line uninterrupted. There are several instances that could be useful I think.
It's easily counterable, especially if you've done sufficient scouting and know there is a Marza in play, you have plenty of time to create a counter force before it ever gets to level 6. The only real difference I see now is that the players used to kicking butt with the other races don't have it as easy anymore.
I try to play without using them. I don't think they should be adjusted at all. I think the fact they're not be-all-endgame goals is a very good thing.
Got it, I got to play some of his early work and it's worth downloading for those of you on the fence on the issue.
I've fixed my lack of RAM issue. Studied units (up to latest beta 3, which I'm part of) and tactcs. I'd love to hear from active groups at this point. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Well... for me the longest time I was running a half gig of RAM... caused lag on larger maps (especially with fast settings) so getting booted wasn't high on my priority list. I have a full gig now, so I'll probably try coming on again so long as the ADD types who only play on fast settings aren't still running the show. Clcikfest = Boring. There's something to be said for not having all the techs done at end game.
I'm still around, just taking part in the beta and still staying mostly offline because I don't have enough RAM to not lag large maps on fast speeds. Runs fine on normal ship movement but those games don't exist anymore :/
Hey, no worries. I think I understand (programmer myself, delved into coding these kinds of games long time ago) why you do it this way... sort of a rapid prototyping model, get the functionality then polish it after the core elements are in place. I came into this game from GalCiv II and went through the initial release up to before the last expansion (haven't got that yet, but want it.. still play a lot of GCII:DA though) and I've seen how much can be included in a patch, so I'm not
