theres some really neat tips for economy management (through the sliders and some colony management) in here. What about some tips for beginner or so level? because I think I may start using that when I get the game for my B-Day in a few weeks because 'piece of cake' in the demo is extremely easy, I primarily use that level to fool around with the ship designer though. and the main tip about colonizing is to never colonize planets below 7 or 8 right? unless its a stragetic
smjjames
smjjames, if you install the 10X bonus pack before 1.11, there probably won't be problems, but if you update to 1.11 first, there will be. oh I see what they were getting at. thanks.
You should be fine with: Enable-GalCiv2-Collectors-Edition.exe What you SHOULDN'T be installing is: GalCiv2_10X_BonusPack_030806.exe The version number is right there in the filename. 1.11 includes all the changes from 1.0X I don't get it, why would the Galciv2_10X_Bonus pack cause problems? wouldn't the 1.11 patch
so is the mod functional for 1.11? because I've heard that mods act wierd with the current patched version. I don't have the game yet as I'm getting it on my B-Day on June 2nd (and yes I know I'm saying that all over the place, lol).
use one colony module, not two, that will open up some space and concentrate on some propulsion research up to at least Ion Drive. thats about all the tips I know of atm.
may want to have more details, of course though, if you had numbers on your side thats possible.
crazy horse? lol anyway, thanks for the info, I'm not planning on messing with the demo files because it doesn't have all of the files that the full game has.
I KNOW the demo doesn't have all the files on hand, thats why I'm asking. The 'what images to use' I'm still undecided on and I'm not worried about that as I'll come up with something. and can you link to the thread? I'm not sure where to find it and we can't do a search for authors
and I'm planning on using a pic of army ants (either the African or the S. American ones) for the race leader pic, and I'm thinking of using some insectoid looking pic for the racial symbol. I haven't decided yet and will probably look at the many images available for d/l in the library. basically what I'm trying to ask is, would those racial abilities work well or would there be enough points for them.
I have an idea for a custom race to do when I get the full game, but I'm not sure how I'd apply the stats and all because I have the demo atm and going to get the game for my B-Day on June 2nd. here is the text copied from the GalCiv2 forum over on the Civilization Fanatics Center boards (thats civfanatics.com): well uh, heres an idea I have for a custom race, but not having the full game such as how many points I can allocate, I don't know exactly what I can do, alth
they are still working on things, it just takes time.
I can't use that galactopedia thing until I get the full game although it does look very useful.
what other benefits for good and evil are there, besides the tech stuff, the armor for good side, weapons for the evil side. and I thought the Neutral guys also got some weapons/armor? sounds like Neutral is pretty much the best choice to use...
yea, sounds like more pirates would be nice, but it also sounds like they are rather overpowered. They shouldn't be able to take on a HUGE battleship with black hole shooting tech weapons, but they should have a chance to get away.
yea, but the anomalies get sucked up FAST and so the survey ship is probably better converted to an exploration ship (probably a fast one) or some warship like Meglobob said.
nice. what the heck is the hullpiece in the front? it might be a Torian or Yor hull because those aren't shown in the demo.
Me: "They're only pixels." Son: "But *these* pixels deserve to die!" lol do you and your kids play MP games together? just for fun of course altho
I dunno about decals, they would be hard to see unless you are in shipbuilder mode and on the gamescreen, they'd be difficult to impossible to see on smaller hulls, on large and huge ships, it might be easier. but yea, having custom color stuff sounds cool although I'm ok with the current color schemes.
22, but will be 23 in a few weeks on June 2nd man, I can't wait until summer vacation starts and this hard college math class is over!! May is such a busy month... and there are alot of young adults here, although I am a bit surprised that there are some ppl in thier 40s playing <img src="http
really cool TheLawyer although, I think the prongs on your Millenium Falcon are a little long because from what I remember, the prongs were a bit shorter. as for the colors, in the demo I find that I'm preferring a copper trim and black hull, sometimes black trim and copper hull. That color scheme looks especially cool on the drengin hulls <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_D
thats a um, strange color scheme. thats with Kryo's shipbuilder mod isn't it?
Don't Waste your Money. The extra ship jewlery sounds cool but most of it is a waste (no saucers or anything useful) except that they do give you a "Sensor/deflector dish" to use. I don't think that is worth the extra money. like I said, the extra ship stuff is available for download anyway, which is free....
I have seen the occasional Blue star in the Demo, those don't usually have habitable planets though. so in the full game, yellow/red/orange stars have habitable planets while the green and purple stars don't? just clearing it up.
yea, but you can now download the special ship hulls and jewlery now since its too late to get the collectors edition by now.
yea, probably somewhere around ion drive or a tech or two above.
