I don't know what to say either. I never met any dreadnoughts. How long does it take you to do stuff? A dreadnought might happen if you give the AI time to build up their base. If you meet dreadnoughts, you are going to need many Nemesis cruisers (anti-dreadnought cruisers) to take it out. I redid the mission to check my time. I was able to start work on my second base before 10 minutes in and managed to to destroy their base before 30 minutes. Most of that army came from 1 fri

I'm finding that armies are not as good as I would have hopped that they were. I want to like armies, but there are number of problems that seem to make managing them a pain. 1. Dead armies still request units to be built. Not long ago, I quit a game where I lost control over some of my factories. You see, my factories were still building cruisers for armies long destroyed, or destroyed beyond the point of usefulness. It got so bad that my armies were composed of dreadnoughts a
Lets stop calling this browser hijacking and call it advertisement hijacking, or ad hijacking for short. The deliberate effort to remove ads and replace them. Typically done by a 3rd party to change the ads that a website shows and what the user sees. You still get to go to the website you want to go, its only the advertisements that are different.
The problem is that many people think they they have the right to display whatever adds they want. I would argue that they shouldn't. However, the internet isn't free and ads have filled that financial void. No free lunch and all. It is far from the ideal model for the internet, so I'm interested in seeing different models. Wikipedia gets all its funding through donations, so they don't need ads. It also means that they can be independent because ad providers can
This is one of the reasons why I have my browser ask me to activate flash. Dangerous crap can get to my computer through it. I only need flash for a few websites, and those I would rather they switched to HTML 5. You don't need flash for Youtube. Last I checked, they are already using HTML 5.
I didn't have any trouble with that mission. I made a really large force behind their base. I also nabbed a nodes to the north and south of the site. The southern one will connect the other nodes back to your base so you can get resources, so its important that you nab it. You won't exactly be swimming in resources, but you won't be starving either. Be certain to only build land forces on that side of the enemy base. There is no path connecting the two locations... exce
Optional Mission 1: This mission depends completely on your ability to take Turinium generators from your enemy. You enemy has all 7 generators, but not enough units to secure them all. Fortunately you are given 2 small armies to take them. But they aren't really big enough to take some of the more fortified generators. You'll need more units for just that. You are also given an air scout for scouting the map, but you don't have the means to produce more as you are not allow to bu
I replayed the first 4 missions. Here are my thoughts. Mission 01: This does pretty much what it sought to do. It gives you a single unit to control. You can move it around and avoid enemies. It has radar, so you learn how to spot and avoid enemies using radar alone. It later gives you an artillery unit to destroy enemies with. It shows you that you attack stuff that you can only see using radar. And it takes it slow enough that you can get a sense of how things work. Mi
I intend to add my thoughts on the campaign later. Check back later.
Thinking back to when Ashes of the Singularity was announced, there was all this focus on the fact it was using the Nitros game engine and all this focus on what it allowed you to do. Thousands of units, DX 12, 64 bit, etc, etc. So what about the game? Well, I draw a big blank. I might not have been following the news well since I jumped aboard back in access, but I feel like I still know more about the game engine than about the game itself. The world was supposed to be a setting
I find that some units are natural counters for some units, and some unit work well with others. I've won some battles using a large army made up of nothing but brutes and rocket frigates. Even dreadnoughts have fallen to such an army. In many ways, it is a game of rock paper scissors. Having the right mix of units for the job can make all the difference. Then again, I still play against easy AIs on skirmish maps. I haven't been playing all that long.
I finished mission 3 on the first try. I failed to get my artillery in place both chances I could so I feel back and kept growing the size of my army just outside of my main base. I let the enemy take as much ground as it wanted because I wanted time to build up my forces. I managed to brute force my way to victory. I find that a mix of units is always helpful. Mind you I tried again after I finished the campaign. I barely made getting my artillery in place for the first time, so I
I find that military might can change pretty quickly. A loss of an army can hurt. It really depends on fleet composition when two armies meet. Rock, paper, scissors style. A Prometheus is an anti-dreadnought dreadnought and can kill any single hard target quickly, but is not good at killing multiple enemies at once. I've killed dreadnoughts using nothing but a lot of brutes and rocket frigates. Most vehicles don't have anti-air ability so bombers can kill most things easily. But
It doesn't really matter to an extent. Even if this court case was magically solved, and every American government agency got as much access to protected devices as they wanted to the full extent of the law, the terrorists or anyone else could use software based outside the US which does not fall under the law that allows them to force companies to cooperate. Open source software can be pretty hard to control too. Also the iPhone hack only matters if the terrorists opt to use i
Sorry to have to be critical of the game, but I'm really tired of these skin-deep strategy games, so to see Stardock build one is a little disappointing, especially in the wake of fantastic titles like SoaSE. I'm not happy with the game and will probably not give it another look.
Don't be sorry. Stardock is literally asking for reviews of the game. Good or bad. The CEO even bumped the thread. <a href="https://forums.ashesofthesingularity.
I think what happens is they become an army when they are used for the same project. Try breaking the army apart, then select only one engineer.
I find that the voice acting is too quite period. If turning the volume up, everything else in the game is too loud. I can fiddle with the settings but I don't like the fact that I have to jump through hoops just to listen to the story. Also, some subtitles would be really nice.
I would like the option of controlling where the units come from. Right now when you order units using your army, it is an open offer to every factory you have. It does not consider things like distance and travel time, what enemy forces it needs to travel around, and whether or not you can afford to have all your factories running at once.
Disband the army and let the faster units run? I don't know if they can move fast enough to get out there in time. I find that my dreadnaughts tend to survive it, but I also tend to have at least a few levels invested in HP upgrades when it happens. I suppose the only real defense is the knowledge that each time that your opponent uses that ability, it gets more expensive. And that it also uses the same resource for more permanent upgrades. But I've also seen the AI spam qu
It can't be anything to with DX 12 as I'm using DX 11. Borderless window looked like full screen at first (it used the full screen), but alt + tab works with it. It has thus far passed some quick tests. What is different between full screen and borderless window?
I can't seem to alt + tab Ashes of the singularity. I want to be able to minimize the game on a whim and go do something else for however long it takes. Right now, it seems that it'll go half ways. The game will continue to display while I have control over the rest of my computer. I get a different cursor icon and it has changed to text icon when the opportunity has presented itself. It doesn't do me much good to have control over the computer when I can't see what I'm do
Congrats on moving Ashes to open beta. A question though. Now that is Ashes is on GOG, will those of us who pre-ordered before this release get a GOG key? I prefer GOG over Steam, so I would like to be getting the GOG version of Ashes without having to buy it again.
Hi. I recently bought this game. I managed to get some time to play today. Here are my thoughts: I was expecting something like Starcraft. However, this game plays a lot like Supreme Commander. Supreme Commander, from what I understand, plays a lot like Total Annihilation. Maybe its like that because frogboy likes that game. It doesn't matter, I've played games like this before so I was able to quickly figure out the basics. Some buildings provide a constant stream of resou
