Hmm... so there are still people having troubles downloading stuff? It may be productive for those having issues to state if you are downloading with Impulse or SDC.
To all people having trouble finding the update on SDC: Check which server you are connected to. If it is US-2, try switching to server US-1. (Tools -> settings -> Internet). This did the trick for me. Updating to TotA 1.95 as we speak.
I had a spare computer to test it on, and it seems to work. I also pressed refresh XML data just to be safe.
There is also a new patch. Try updating to it to ver 1.95 (might work best with Impulse since SD Central having seems to be having some problems right now).
Also, DivineWrath, Boogiebac posted the change log that I wrote for 1.92, and I think that it was actually Charles who made the change. And I did say that the change log included the changes for 1.92, because not everyone downloaded it.
I was just joking around. I saw a chance to do so and went with it. By the way... are you saying that Boogiebac may be trying to steal credit for your post, and Charles's work? /joke
+ NEW: Optional realtime clock on the main screen
Glad its now here. Took some time to play a game with it on. It should be helpful in making sure I don't miss important stuff like my shows. By the way, some minor requests. Could we get it placed in the top right corner instead of just below where ascension victory display shows up? On top of that, could we have the option of it being displayed as a 24 clock instead of AM and PM (you know 11:30 PM = 23:30)?
The update is available on both Impulse and Stardock Central.
I don't see it on Stardock Central, but I do see it on Impulse. Any ways, when updating on Impulse, Impulse downloaded maybe 60 mb of data (don't remember exactly), and then updated TA. The whole TA file shows itself to be nearly 400 mb. Is Impulse supposed to be able to update a file without downloading an entire replacement now? More on Stardock Central. It currently shows that I have TA version 1.91
+ NEW: Removed a duplicate entry in the StarbaseModules.xml file. Also added some starbase modules with "Mining" and "ProductionAssist" abilities to compensate the races that do not have the factory line of techs in their tech trees (Iconians, Thalans, Korath, Yor). And I didn't just blindly add these, I made a spread sheet of all the starbase modules that each race has access to and filled in a few of the holes with new modules the best way I saw fit. They are tied to race-specific te
Click on the Stardock orb on the upper left, that is the menu.
I've been playing with that orb several times today. Although it gives me more control, it doesn't give me the feel I'm looking for. I suppose it should be noted that I played with the settings of my vista notebook computer so that the graphics were set to classic mode. I don't care for improved graphics when it seems to complicate some basic tasks. By the way, is there a way to switch the display of
I clicked on it in the Impulse Store and it took me to a short description page. Then I clicked on Visit website and ended up here: http://www.star-assault.com/en/index.html
I've been there. They have a short description, 6 pictures, and no game play videos. I don't consider that a whole lot information. Thanks for trying to help anyways.
Hmm...
During their heyday from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s...
Some of the stuff sounds familiar, and I think I had an internet connection back then. I might have looked at that stuff, though I was a bit young then so I'm not completely sure on the exact details. What I do remember is something that looked like a crude version of a forum (compared to today's standards). One of the things I wished I knew more about when I was younger...
Geez, how busy are you guys? You've been busy with TA, you've worked on Political Machine for more than a month, and now this. Are you guys going to get some free time to lay back and maybe do something else for a few weeks (and recover). Some of us fear for your health! Any ways, something that has been bugging me is I don't see a menu bar that has stuff like "File", "View", "Tools". It feels really weird not having that stuff (like it does with some newer microsoft products like offic
You're not the first one to make such a post. There have been many other posts by converts saying that they either liked the game enough to buy it, or stardock's business practices impressed them enough that they wanted to support such a company. Anyways welcome to the community. I hope to enjoy your stay. Edit: By the way, you didn't mention if you got TA or not. If you did, you might want to read TA 101: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310907/page/1"]TA 101[/link]
Well, I do have Sin of a Solar Empire. Though, I am not the biggest fan of the game. I find that the game can take too long for my tastes (the game was designed to have some maps play for a month or more in multiplayer). You're not going to be able to beat a small map in half an hour like you could do in starcraft. However, I do return to play it from time to time. I prefer GalCiv 2 (I play the latest version). This game doesn't involve a whole lot of tactics, but rather strategies. You
This might creep me out... I'm not the most social kind of person so having a bunch of "friends" being able to follow me around, and know what I was doing would be weird. For the record, is there going to be any way to be hidden from the world, or certain individuals in the event that things get out of hand?
What is the difference between hit points and defense abilities
You mean as in the bonuses you get when you spend points as part of your pre-game setup? They increase your ability in those regards (some civs come with a base ability, while others might get bonuses from techs, many are both). Your HP and defense are increased by the total percent ammount (reasonably sure), so a +100% to HP would double your HP, and a +200% would triple. Because of this effect, you
Ahhh now it gets immortalized in a guide. It shall never die ~evil laughter~.
I could press delete ~chuckles evilly~. By the way, where you the one who first came up with the term?
Did you get to delve into Terror Stars more?
I tried, but keeping the AIs alive long enough for me to research Terror stars seems more difficult than it appears (they're crazy enough to pick a fight with me). Plus, they seem to try to kill each other if
Basically once you overbuild or demolish the Starport the 2nd time then a Starport no longer appears as a build option. This is definitely true for DL and I'm also under the impression it's true for DA as well. However it would be nice if someone was able to verify this behavior for DA. I have no clue whether TA behaves the same way or not.
I'm fairly sure that this problem no longer exists for DA (with latest patch), and does not exist for any version of TA. [qu
I can see this on the GalCiv forums. Just to let you know. Anyways, the FPS games I remember fondly are Goldeneye (N64) and Perfect Dark (N64). More recent games include Time Spliters, Resident Evil 4, and the Metriod prime games. I did kinda liked Doom 3, but I'm not one for horror games. I don't play a whole lot of other FPS games because they are either too realistic, or don't have the right feel. As such, my knowledge of other FPS games might be a bit limited. Its
Finished my first rewrite of the guide. I don't plan on any more major changes beyond this (though there is some stuff I want to update later). Anyways I've rewrote the Korx, Thalans, and Altarians. I've made certain that no civ had no less than 3 suggested strategies. I also made some other changes, some to make things look better, keep my terminology consistant, bugs, and some other unnamed stuff. If anyone has any suggestions or comments about changes to the guide, please li
BBS? Let me guess, its a term that someone young, such as myself, might not know? Could someone explain this stuff to me? I feel a bit lost.
4. Conquering should not allow mutiple once only buildings such as technology capital, economic capital, political capital or manufacturing capital. Simply if you conquer such a planet with a unique tile development that improvement should be destroyed. Better yet have a popup asking player if they would like to make that planet their new unique! This then would be the only way to move your capital buildings once they are built.
I like the idea of seeking out those super
I recently managed to finish a game, and it seems that the AI have their teeth back or something. That, or I'm too accustomed to the AI not being able to tech up in weapons as fast that they did. Long story short, the Iconians (me) vs the Korath. The Korath was the leader in weapons technology most of the game and two other civs attacked me shortly after the Korath declared war. Once I got my Large ships built, I beat back the Arceans (gaining many planets in the process) and made peace
I use a mix myself, though some civs have better HP boosting modules than other. Currently, the Iconians beat all with their "Organic Hull Plating" (they even get a +100% repair bonus with one of their techs). Its strengths are, its cheaper than any like module, and it provides plenty of hit points per point of space. Its only flaw is, it does not resize so its a little big on every hull size but huge. On a side note, HP boosters work well as an early form of defense. As long as they ar
Read this guide then: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/310907"]TA 101[/link] I wrote the guide to help players to get some idea of what they might want to do when playing a civ. I try to provide 3 ideas of what to do for each (I should have that done when I'm finished my rewrite).
I find this really annoying that I either 1) Can't figure it out, or 2) Isn't balanced quite right
It could be both. That said, I'll give you some suggestion
Hi guys, how are you guys feeling about the technology pacing in this alpha?
I'm kinda busy recording TV shows with my computer and my defective capture card will not let me multi-task recording and game playing (for instance, muting it mutes the whole computer). Plus I've been analyzing the new starbase modules, adding data to my spread sheets, and have been trying to finish off TA 101. I'll be playing again tomorrow. By the way, if you haven't noticed, I'm havi
