I'm here, although I'm not very prolific in posting or quick in playing games. I've played the intro game for galcivII, and I like Galciv1 better.

I'm about to win my 5th game, which I am playing with all opponents at Normal. Like Aeonica, I started with everyone as dumb as possible and have been working my way up. Here are some simple suggestions that may help you out. 1) Don't colonize any planet with quality less that 15, until you are able to quickly upgrade it to quality 15. NEVER colonize any planet with quality less than 10, except in case of need to extend your ship range. 2) Technology is the most valuable commodity i

I submitted a game Aug 20 and one today, and don't see either one. I've gone over the capitalization, the ID codes, the serial number and everything. It all appears to be correct and consistent. Nick Name: Dirty Hairy Stardock.net ID: 2501479 Player ID: 29140 Could anyone give me a hand? Thanks

Interesting. The person with the highest score may not necessarily be the best, but simply the person who insures they have at least one score in each of the time blocks. I don't know about the rest of you, but I play on gigantic and have a 40+ hour per week job. I'm lucky if I can finish one game a month.

Regarding colonizing planets, the Soil Enhancement and Habitat Improvement are early in the tech tree. Each boost the PQ by 10% of it's original rating. Thus a planet with quality 13 can be raised to 15.6, given enough time to build them. It's worth recognizing that the lower the PQ, the less happy your citizens are going to be, so low PQ planets need to be to the interior of your empire, rather than being on the edge where other races will take them over. You should also be a

I live in Serbia. I found Galciv2 in a store and bought it. Got it home, unwrapped it and started playing, but I can't find a serial number. The disk is in Russian, but it had an option to install the English version. Besides, I read and speak Russian. Anyway, the disk is silver and the box comes with an official-looking holographic sticker with a code on it: K 667923 BI (although the I is actually a reversed N.) It doesn't look pirated, but without a code I can't download updates to t
#6 by Senator CariElf - 4/22/2004 2:07:30 PM stilanas, you're in the database, so you're definitely registered. If you have Windows XP, there's a firewall setting under network settings (I think) that is on by default. Also, some routers have firewall software so if you have a cablemodem or dsl, you may want to check your manual
CariElf, would you mind checking for me? I think I'm registered correctly.
Ok, resubmitted the game on the 28th, still not showing up. I entered my name and email address as shown in the My Account section. Emailed Stardoc and no reply as yet. I'm about to finish my next game and I want to use some of the approved mods, but I don't want to change anything until my scores start show

I submitted a game over the weekend, or Monday, can't remember which. Hasn't showed up on the list yet. Anyone know if it has to be reviewed by a human? If so, maybe they're just busy, but otherwise I expected to see it by now. I used my screen name (Dirty Hairy) capitalized as I just did it. Anyone have any suggestions?
by Citizen Damien Ward - 2/7/2006 10:51:18 PM I've read that you get less income from planets that are lower than class 15, how exactly does this work (is it a small or large decrease)? Also, do you still get a penalty after building lots of improvements like soil enrichment, and therefore rasing the class to 15?
From a FAQ I found: If the planet you colonize is under PQ 15 it costs 5bc per turn for life support. Under PQ 10 it costs 5 plus 10 times the governmen
by Citizen vendelen - 2/3/2006 9:46:37 PM There's a couple of things that I do not understand. Kindness or noughtyness... So if I rip a starship to pieces, or if I respect those few aboard the ship, what does it matter ? - except the fact that I GAIN money/tech +++ by being a bad bad boy, and must PAY the consiquenses by being cute and naive !You see I acutally like... to be... to be cute.
#5 by Veteran Vorlin Varelse - 4/24/2006 7:58:08 AM I can't remember ever stealing tech with espionage, but then I normally play a very tech-intensive style so that might be part of the problem. I also invest in espionage for the main purpose of avoiding a diplomatic gaffe that plunges me into an unplanned-for war.
I haven't got much experience relatively, but I play an economy-heavy style and always turn off the alternate victory conditions, which requires that I crush
After some turns , I usually end with no money or very few money. Any suggestions or ideas of how to start in a good way?
Two suggestions: Your economic tab under the domestic page can be adjusted so you net a profit for the turns. If your tax rate is significantly higher than your expenditures, then you have made a mistake. One of the easiest to make is colonizing a planet with a quality less than 15. The penalties for doing so are extreme. It's survivable late in the ga

I just started playing the game recently, and this thread is new enough that we might actually have a discussion. I'm personally interested in this kind of information. I play a similar style to yours - keep the economy as hot as possible while snapping up anything that is available. I try to be friends with everyone, until I have the tech tree almost done, then I switch to war footing and start playing Genghis Kahn. Another benefit of running a hot economy and having extra cash is it's
#3 by Citizen Galvendor - 4/28/2006 10:17:11 PM How do i join and or create my own empire i don't have a serial number how do i get it
If you are talking about the CD Key, you must have it to register. In my case, it was on a sticker on the inside of the box cover. Fortunately, the box mine came in was clear and I could see it. I wouldn't have thought of removing the cover to see if the key wan on the inside. Good luck,

I'm reasonably new to this site. Just bought the game a month ago and working on finishing my second game. I won the first one, with everyone set to fool, then found out you have to update (presumably to 1.20) to submit a game. Oh well ... I'll wander through every now and then.

Lots of questions about people not being able to submit scores, but I can't find a document that tells me how to attempt to submit a score. Since there's no information, I'm assuming I have to install the Stardock central program that the system tried to push on me when I registered. Could someone at least confirm that? With all the firewall issues, you'd think Stardock would find a better way to do this. Heck, I'd rather zip up the entire game and email it in than punch a ho
