I kind of miss the days when you had to hunt around for a good spot. Resources were around, it was up to you to find a good spot to start. Yes, a la civ, but still a fun part...a part where decisions mattered. Too many resources IMO and still think it should cost essence to build a city...look a pioneer - with a city in a bag!

oooh, minimap...then I wouldn't have to play the game in cloth map mode constantly. Please tell me I'm stupid and just missed a setting that enables a minimap!
Read the bottom of the above post - my colorful city names are "Home_fo_go_tec" 1_Met_Fo, 2_Tec_Arc.... so I know what they need when they promote and its easier to figure out what modifying buildings to build. Colorful... or, descriptive :)
Not reading thread, disagree with OP. Plenty of resources, plenty of food. 20+ cities by turn 100 all ~3 and its just time before they get bigger since I have 30+ food surplus. I don't like the thought of merchants taking food (doesn't make a lot of sense to me), but the affects I can deal with. Slightly annoyed that monster killing is now sooo little, can see nerfing the 400+ you got from the big stacks, but 10... Throw some items in there as
Looking forward to an update for 1.08.xyzpdq
You people saying the current system is fine are bleeding crazy... Having extensively whored the current system, and I mean extensively, no it isn't. What we have now is a horrific, broken system. You move four(or three) essence and gain another caster with just as much essence. No loss. In the case of a stack of newly created channelers and your sovereign, you're multiplying your short term damage outp
I'm a fan. I have hope. I have faith. With that said, why not just change "shard" to "node" and be done with it. Call whoever owns the microprose MoM license and buy the rights to it. It worked. It would work with this system, and if all other changes flowed into that path it would see success. It may/may not become a classic at that point, but its easier working from an established baseline. Alternatively (and I'm repeating mysel

Actually played my first game to completion today... holy hell of a disappointment. 52. WTH does 52 mean? Yes, I could have dominated the last guy, but I was tired of mopping up - so I allied them. Bigger score with domination? 52% of the game completed? 42 I could understand, but 52? I want graphs, metrics, game history. I want to see how the enemies did, how they did against their opponents, and then how we did against each other.&
Argh. I'm not really liking the entire idea at all. Shards should be special! Have faction buildings give +1 mana, make shards necessary for something else. I'm still disappointed we went away from requiring shards to cast spells. Lvl 1, no shard needed. Lvl 2 shard needed, lvl...5 say, 2 shards needed. Or make tiered spells - flame spell, if no shard - direct damage, if 1 shard, increased damage. If 2 shards, DD+Do
Fourth'd!
I've seen this as well, although intermittent. Primarily an imbued janusk - Was ~20 mana, next turn after battle was 1 or 2 (might not have checked till next battle). Sov and another caster weren't affected. Quite annoying with the 1 mana regen/turn.
Yes, two of the more annoying features: Cannot combine singletons and cannot upgrade already built units. I should either be able to buy troops items at a shop or have an actual upgrade process where they go back into "training" and you're only charged the differential in cost.
Customization. I could make a character in MoM where magic was primary. The first couple of nodes were tough, but summons/heroes could be a core army...or at least a highly buffed melee+first strike+flying+bless+etc, etc :). Alternatively, I could go low books/high "buffs", i.e. warlord/myrran and go doom drake for flying. Could also go really heavy into one type to get the bonuses...took me revisiting the game 10 yrs later to know that yo
Keep up the good work!
Love the mod, keep up the good work!
lol, ouch. Does the bugfix mod work?
Definitely worth looking at! Is it using the same core mechanics of elemental? i.e. how radical a change would potentially have to occur in programming? Is it AI'able? i.e. decisions trees and such - or preset activities? Expandable, i.e. down the road a year can abilities still be added? How quick is a "round", is it action by action or preset actions then a both-go or a wego/yougo? Toss it out there for some playtesting, refine, toss some unit car
Quoting dawgs4ever, reply 22 Thank you for being the perfect example of why we have to put up with games released too early and full of bugs. CONGRATS!!
Oh no, don't misunderstand me. It sucks that the game came out early, it sucks that there are a ton of issues with it and that it didn't meet a good portion of the expectations. My point is that just whining doe
Haven't followed that city spamming thread, but many cities > fewer cities every time. There are way too many resources and plopping a city down even for the cheap 1 resource via the workshop is worth it. Then once food comes in you build merch, then when a few gold mines are found you spam studies... game over. AI needs to focus on economy/resource usage much much more quickly. Let alone how they build/use their sovereign. <
Magic is much more reliable for me now. Haven't tried ranged yet. Had the initial issue with not hitting anything, needed to remove the "bugfix 2.2" I was working with. Bugfix is back up to 3.x but i'm only using a couple of the xml files.
Not sure what turn i'm on, but I've got 11 cities, plenty of resources, 44gil/turn, 4 shards (think i played my first 10 games without seeing a quickly accessible shard). I kind of like the new changes. I made a new sov, specifically didn't choose organized (have a version from a mod still), did not spec for movement. My first/common unit was a 3 move, 6 attack, 5 defense footman. Had a couple of those so my stack was 3 move, slower, but at le
Logged in and got a splashscreen with an update. DL'd the update and it is different. I still had organized, but as "forced march" from a mod. Didn't select it (first time) and its a very different game with 15 mana teleport and slow moving sov. Made my base footsoldiers move 3 at least, slightly more expensive but can at least usually cover 2 tiles.
This is just fanboyism. Gal Civ 2 may rock to you but, I honestly didn't see what all the fuss was about, granted the game did work and nothing was obviously broke, so it was and is definitely a good game. Did Gal Civ also go through these awful growing pains, if so, then cool, I guess we can hope for the best here, but many of us were not in your shoes to know that with Gal Civ, so we're nervous. .
I can s
