Bravo. This is an accolade that is long overdue. Thank you Stardock for all of the countless hours of hard work that you have spent honing this masterpiece. I have spent a fair amout of money over the years on games, and I consider what I have spent on yours perhaps my best investment. I have derived more enjoyment from the sweat of your collective brows than from any other company, and for this, I thank you. As long as you continue to develop from the gamer's point of view, you will

I've been thinking about changing my avatar, to one that would be more relevant across the various Stardock forums. I have noticed that the size has been increased. Does anyone know what the size (in pixels) is now, and are there any freeware progs that will let me modify the size of my chosen pic to fit?

Welcome to the forums, space599. Sole, Willy, and Divine are three of the most respected members here, and you can take anything that they post as gospel. There are a couple/few things that I might expound on. As soon as you are able, design and build your own ships. The core designs are lame. If you choose to leave the UP, you lose all trade. The combat viewer is just something to watch while the game is crunching the numbers. Don't worry that things d

I'm with Trig on this one. We should be able to stash any potion/scroll/whatever we find, and use it at the time of our choosing. I love Tyo's poisoned potions. I don't remember seeing this in any other game. If they are to be included though, they shouldn't always be poison. There should be a relatively small percentage chance that they are tainted. Anything other than this will preclude players from picking them up at all.

Have a little patience folks. When you are dealing with a totally new product, delays are bound to happen. Stardock will not release a title at any stage until they are confident that it is ready to go. They have polled their customer base on this subject in the past, and each time the public has voted OVERWHELMINGLY to delay release in order to have more features ready, and to give time for further polishing and or balancing. The people who ask for an earlier release are usually the
If you have an Internet connection, you're almost better off playing on-line because you can play on the Internet against AI players.
Will you expand on this a bit? If I play SP, then I will obviously be playing against AI players. What is the advantage of playing against them online? Also, would I be able to control the speed of the game in SP online?
it doesn't take long to make a faster, better survey/scout ship and speed is important when trying to grab as many of the initial anomalies as you can.
Yes, but in less time than it takes to research all that, you can work your way up the engine tech tree to give yourself a +2 to your speed, and you have your quick ship. Also, while you are busy researching, your flagship is snapping up anomalies.

These photos were most certainly not staged. This was a spontaneous celebration of hope and life, by those who haven't been taught the politics of hatred and prejudice. I *suppose* that you could call the last photo 'staged', in the same way that you would 'stage' a photo of a family picnic when you ask Aunt Millie to put down the potato salad for a moment and smile for the camera. Look at the faces in the crowd. There are whites, blacks, hispanics, and Muslims. You wouldn't see this

Huzzah! Finally an official announcement. If you aren't excited now about this game, then you should be. The idea behind this game has been simmering in Frogboy's mind for years. There are bits and pieces that were coded for other projects that will just now be implemented. I believe that this will be Stardock's masterpiece.
Foreign Stats // Stats // Misc
Yep. This is the main portal through which you can access intel on the other civs. I just fired up the game to check, and even though I have a "low" level of intel on them , I know that the Arceans are researching Medium Hulls.
Fallout 3 only requires the disk
Sweet. I'm down with the disk. Combine this with Stardock's one time registration, and updates through Impulse, and we may have something that could work.
Mistralok, from what I understand the Creature Creator also had the same SecuROM DRM on it, so it's likely that's where you first picked it up. As for removing it, here's some instructions I found (from the BioShock forums):
Yep. The insidious part of this is the fact that the *free* version did not have it. Since the free version didn't have it, I assumed the full $10 version would not also. Silly me. @Annatar11: Thanks for pointing this out to me. I'll try it

I'll add CDV to my personal blacklist. I still have a brand new copy of Codename Panzers: Phase 2 sitting on my desk, sealed, in the bag and with the original receipt from January 06. It's sealed because my drive went down before I could install it. Yep, you guessed it- Starforce. The way I look at it, they owe me for the cost of the game, as well as the cost of my DVD drive, and until I get that, they will NEVER get another cent out of me. EA is another I will never do business with

You don't say which version you are playing, as things are *slightly* different between them- I'll get to that in a bit.
I continuously receive updates from other races buildong those "wonders of the universe" improvements
You are not the only person that is annoyed by this. Personally, I don't mind, since every civ likes to crow about it's achievements, and putting out a galactic press release makes perfect sense to me. Regarding your UP question, throu

It's always heartening to see a 'lapsed' GalCiv player come back into the fold. Sole Sole has given some good advice, per usual, but let me expand a bit. 1) The combat system is *basically* the same, in that there is still the 3 offense/defensive types, but there have been changes. As of DA, each weapon on a ship now fires individually, rather than all at once. As of TA, you have the option to let the game design your ships for you (and it does a pretty good job) until you are comfort
Minor races are often more valuable as trading partners (sell them tech and grab the few things they have that you don't-not to mention the economic and research treaties
I have to agree here. The minors are also a nice little buffer, as the AI will tend to go after them before it comes after you. A neat little (dirty) trick is to pay close attention to the GNN, and when you hear that a major has declared war on a minor, send off a fast invasion fleet and snatch it up f
Mistralok, have you posted about this in the Impulse support area?
No, I haven't, as this is something that I only recently noticed. I will post over there today and see what Stardock has to say about the situation. It is possible that my download got borked somehow, but I find it strange that this would be the only thing that happened, since Impulse is fully functional in every other way. I'm not here to trash Impulse. Overall, it has worked very well
