Another post that got no feedback My game was great until the AI nerfed itself By Scintor Posted January 8, 2007 01:24:36 This is actually the first crash I have had during the Beta. Good Job! Prior to the crash, I noticed that the GNN was getting forgetful. The last three turns before the crash, most or all of my ship production was not being reported by GNN and was not getting the Icons along the side of the main screen. While I am writing here I want to

This is a repost from the Beta forum, which has gotten no Dev comments After reading through the posts here and playing through a Gigantic-Abundant game, I have some Ideas that could tweak the espionage system so that it would be more usefull and scalable to all galaxy sizes. The first problem I noticed was that spies could only be used in an aggressive way. Now, I tend to play toward an influence strategy, and seldom get into wars. I really have no real interest in trying to c

Actually I was asking if anyone knew what I did wrong with the links so that they are not active. It has been awhile since I have played DL, but if I remember correctly, it only applies to the way the influence borders are drawn in the minimap, and doesn't actually affect gameplay. Also, if memory serves, the problem should resolve itself after a turn or so. Again

Here are a pair of screenshots to illustrait my point. The influence borders of each civilization are wrong upon reloading a game, and the difference can be vast in a high influence game in larger Galaxies. If you are using an influence conquest strategy, like I commonally do, each time you reload can set you back several turns over the same game played without the reload. Some factor is not being added in, which can be easily demonstrated by reloading a game, and then building a economic starbase in the middle of your territory, far from your bor

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but although the cost per spy seems to be at on a fixed ascending scale, any extra paid over the cost of this spy is lost, nad no matter how much you spend, you cannot train more than one spy at once. This became clear to me when about 7500 on one turn 8000 on the next and only got one spy, while the next turn I was able to train the next spy for 8000. We really need cost overpayments to apply to the next spy or be returned to the treasury, or a

This is a small one, but consistant and reproducable. If you go to a planet by pressing the view button or by double clicking it on the colony manager screen and you click on an enemy agent on one of your rescource tiles and then click on the nullify agent button and use your last agent, the enemy agent goes away, but the agent button on the main screen is still red when you return to it, and if you roll over it a pop-up box comes up and states that you still have an agent available. If you tr

Just out of curiosity, I know that we can trade with, or buy / sell items from, the minor and major races. I also believe they do this with each other as well. Is it a possibility that they (the minors) are building these ships (transport / colony) in the hopes of being able to use them in a trade or to sell them? Actually no, beacuse the

Whenever I change anything in a stack of ships, the stacked ship picturs along the bottom of the screen does not change to reflect this change unless you click on the stack of ships again. For example, I launch two ships from the same planet, and then I send one back into the planet. The main screen Ship icon changes to that of a single ship, but the ship display along the bottom of the screen does not change even though one of the ships is no longer there. Scincerely, Scintor

There seems to be an additional effect that seems to be related. If you click on a ship that is on route to a destination but has no movement points left, and then hit the turn button, the game will stop durring the auto move phase and wait for you to hit the skip button before your turn will continue. I just tried to load my game from yesterday and I got the one from the day before. The first thing that should have tipped me off was that my named save game was after the autosaves. This at least the second time that this has happened to me. Unfortunately I quit the older game before I remembered that this would overwrite the debug.err file from the game that did not save. I will be on the lookout for this happening again to sent the appropriate debug.err file. Scincerely, Scint

Since the general spying has been disabled for the individual spies, is there any way to tell the level of influence you have over rival civ worlds with those spies? How about ship information? Scincerely, Scintor

I am about halfway through the colony rush in a gigantic galaxy with eight opponents and eight minors. About half of the major civs never bothered to research space weapons. Two major civs have surrendered to another civ without a shot fired, and one of them, I believe, was only at war with minors (I could be wrong about this). As far as I could tell, they were so buisy researching colonization techs that they never bothered to research any military techs at all. I know that there has already

Ive noticed that this is happening to a lot of the civs. They are so busy researching planetary colonization techs that they research no weapon techs at all. I have had two civs already surrender to other civs because they have no military tech at all and another civ declares war on them from across the galaxy. (check out the surrender monkey thread). I hate the rally point cursor! Hate! Hate! HATE! I almost never use it so I usually don't think about it much, but since I always play a gigantic galaxy with the screen zoomed way out so I can get an idea of the tatical situation it really sucks! You can't tell exactly what it is pointing at, and under Dreadlords it was workable to just accept when I used it to make a rally point, it would be somewhere in the general vicinity of where I clicked. Now that you are using that same #$%#$

I found a problem when clicking on a ship in the planet/ship list. Every time you move a ship after that, it re-centers on the last ship that clicked on in the planet/ship list. Three things will make this go away. Clicking on a ship with moves left in the planet/ship list and using them. Clicking on a planet in the planet ship list. Turning on the 'Allow the computer to automatically go to the next ship with moves' checkbox in the menu settings. (it will however comeback if yo

Boy you guys are spoiled! I have 20 minute+ load times on every game I have ever played. General, spend good money on a computer so that I can just goof around on a game? My wife would have a good laugh about that one. Scincerely, Scintor
