It'd be pretty slick if you sentry mode could be configured or had options - so you could say - don't wake me unless a transport from anyone gets within range or a ship from someone I'm at war with gets within range.
Agreed...that would be nice. That would be a good suggestion for version 2.0.
My favorite author is God... He has written some of the most intresting History ever, not to mention poerty that puts Shakespeare to shame..
I concur...the Bible--inspired by God--contains some great poetry, history, and ideas that have shaped (Western) civilization more than any other work. It has been published in more languages than any other work, hands down. There are more copies than any other work, hands down. It is the most quoted work, hands down. You could compl

A lot of good suggestions here... Nothing to which I would object. I particularly concur with an overhaul of the espionage system. I prefer the original, but maybe a combination of the older and newer methods would be interesting as well... One additional thing: I would love to be able to invest in research simultaneously, similar to SMAC, where you could research in different categories, turn off the ones you didn't want to research, focus on one area, etc. IMO, MOO3 had one good featu

One of the beautiful things about GC2, IMO, is that there are many ways to play and win! Play the way that fits your style. If you like to fight, play domination. If you are sneaky (diplomacy = the art of making peace while looking for a rock to knock out your opponent) then play diplomatically. If you a marketing genius, play economic. Etc... Personally, I like to mix it up and change the approach every once in a while. Look at the benefits of changing governments. If it fits y
But what ticks me off is the randome file movement, and the constant "Alow this app" popups. The start menue is worthless and is very unorganized and difficult to use.
Can these features be turned off, or switched to "classic," or is the user stuck with them? BTW - Thanks for the insight everyone. It sounds like I should be in no hurry to get a Vista machine...

I played GC2 TA a bit... Also, Alpha Centauri. I just got it recently, having never played it before. I always thought it would be a rehash of Civ 2. Boy, was I wrong!

As a non-Vista user, I was wondering... Does anyone think that the hardware will catch up with Vista to make it "zippier," or is it just another Windows ME?

One more thing... In each planet screen, you can click on either the Military, Social, and Research window to focus your resources for the planet on the category you choose. The one that is highlighted will be your focus. The remaining categories will still get some of the resources, as needed.

You may have turned down your "Military" rate too far. This percentage goes toward the building of ships. Try readjusting your military rate higher.

Focus upon developing technologies that improve weapons (Mass Drivers, Missles, Lasers...) and also larger hulls (Medium, Large, and Massive Scale Building...). I would recommend using the Galactopedia, available here , which you can use to see ships and the techs necessary to build them.

Now that it is official, according to Microsoft, that XP is no longer available retail, it appears that my next PC will most likely be a Vista machine. I have read and heard horrible things about Vista, but is it really that bad? Or is this just negative feedback from a relative few who have had problems. I know that when XP first came out, the hardware had not yet caught up to the OS. Now XP runs great. Will the same thing happen with Vista as hardware naturally improves? I have

I did post the wrong debug.err file. The correct one is posted below. BTW - Though my card is old the game works fine on it for the most part.
The circular Windows V Linux argument is as about as productive as Windows V Mac - even the latter died down greatly after Apple ditched motorola and went Intel. Its not a question of using "the best" or its "leading edge" or "different". Its whether an individual likes the game ..... or it should be.Which gets back to "whatever floats your boat".
I agree completely. I used to be a Mac freak. Then I switched to Windows, because it had access to more games (and the old
