We probably will be, there are some planets already in the late stage of developement, life might be happening soon enough(in a few thousand years) once again.

We have lasers of our own they pretty much vaporize anything, they go throught things too quickly for us to notice any changes besides a huge whole. But, thats boring, i like the way they are now.

It matters, i think some weapons should be taken. Some of the worlds we land on might have primitive life forms that would try to kill us. Hopefully, we will be one of the first races in space so that we wont have to compete with the galactic community. But, as said that is far off and we still have a long way to go. Lets see how Mars goes, then we can truly get involved in space colonization.

Your right about management, most company chair people would want to move the management branch here. Why? One reason, money. Uniting the world forcefully is a bad idea. The government of the United States would not be able to handle that much land area, or that many people. Plus, i dont think anyone would go quitely, and because we understand very little about other cultures there is sure to be many rebellions. In the end it will just be pointless lifes lost and the collapse of world economy.

Your wrong about the US having lots of agrilculture we dont, most of our food is imported. We have a lot of grain farming but otherwise meet and dairy products are made elsewhere. Though we do provide a lot of raw matterial. We have technology, but lots of scientist are leaving, many european countries not only offering better pay, but better benifits. And our education system, although the best orginized, is not the most advanced or motivated. Students here are lagging behind by an average of 2

It seems taht lasers cause explosions and sparks, especially when they hit the shields. Maybe we wont see REALY good graphics but the current ones look very well done.

Working for the USSR, i mean actually developing weapons really puts a lot of pressure on someone. He said he doesnt want to do that again, he is very tallented at what he does(i think one of the teams he lead helped discover a new element).
