Stop being so critical about what is "real" and what is not. It's a game, get over it. Whether it's green/purple stars or sound you could also argue light/warp speed. There are many things that are not possible as currently known, are any of these game breaking, no as if they were, I hope your not science fiction fans of Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, or most other sci-fy movies.
I bel
I agree with willy. This fits my play style better. In a pinch I would rather build a whole bunch of constructors. My play style usually leaves me in debt unless I am the Yor . If I can run off a whole bunch of contructors in a turn after the colony rush. Usually after the colony rush my starbases become almost fully upgraded. If constructors r to slow U can research better engines or minIterization to make them fast
I'm not sure whether to add my two cents here or not. I've only managed to get halfway through the posts in this forum and there seems to be a lot of back and forth on this subject. I guess what I am wondering is what is the point of a Starbase if it's not a Base? To me, for the most part, setting up a starbase that wasn't constructed over a resource seemed rather pointless (unless I did it to enhance a trade route). On the other hand,
Like every 4X strategy game I have played they lack the complexity I crave.
I'm curius what is a Turn based stradegy game with Real time stradegy elements. I think Sins of a solar empire like game with everyone is good for multiplayer. Still want a turn based for single player.
Check out any of the TOTAL WAR games: they are turn based with RTS combat (if you so choose) and that would be totally acceptable to me in Gal Civ III Anyway
I previously posted elsewhere that I hadn't even thought about a name for my star; but that was a couple weeks ago and time changes things. So, I've had plenty of time to think about it and the name I came up with is "Pulsar SKf-17". Now, I don't know exactly what the plans are regarding star systems. So, I don't know if they'll actually have Pulsars and such; but I guess (in one way or another) mine will be one (at least to me). Th
Looks like it's time for me to get back up to speed. Name a star... hmmm, I still have my profile photo to work on; let alone naming a star. Then again, getting the photo right is a bit more complicated than coming up with a name. We'll see. SK
I haven't played the game in quite a while; although I do think about it a lot. However, I am discouraged by the current trade system, etc. Logistics is presently a cake walk and barely affects the strategy of the game. It's mostly about acquiring the biggest planets first and not about resources. In addition, tourism is automatic and not something the player truly sets up or manages. You build a militar
Welcome to 2013, eh? I have not played GalCiv-II in quite some time. In fact, I've been waisting my time playing Empire Earth II: The Art of Conquest. But that's neither here nor there. Then again, what is also Not here is Gal Civ III; and II just leaves too much to be desired. I almost long for the days when I was running The Major BBS and a game called Galactic Empire. Now it's World Group and GE no longer exists; except in a memory or two (
From opening Post; "We look forward to continuing this saga someday in the future!" From Reply #2: "We still love this game and as you can see it still brings new customers. We deserve a 2.05 at least " From Reply #5: "Looking forward to hear how GalCiv III will benefit from such competition " From Reply #6: "Here's the problem - now that they're all buddy-buddy with Valve, they've infected each other. Steam now wants to market productivity softw
I don't know why I was thinking there was a multi-player version of Gal Civ; wishful thinking I suppose. However, my thoughts regarding the Fan Base are more along the lines of stock investors rather than spectators (or somewhere in between the two). At the moment it's just a thought that I have yet to really delve into very deeply, but I suspect that there is an untapped potential there. It's just a matter of developing the right ni
Athlete's who are really, really good at their game get paid for playing. So, why is it that us thinkers aren't getting paid to play the games we are really, really good at playing? Gal Civ II, for example, would lend itself well to such an environment. Granted, it wouldn't be a simple two hour match and I suppose it's not exactly set up for spectators. However, that could be a finan
Yes, well I think I'm going to edit that feature right back out of my game. I created a Scout unit (which is fairly expensive when you're just starting out) and don't want four of them. The culprit file is C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\data\English\CoreUnitGroupingTypes.xml (on my computer) and the coding that needs to be removed is: - Tech <T
I don't know if this is a bug or intentional; but it is definitley irritating. I am curious as to why it takes 20 material before one can initiate the construction of one's first Pioneer Unit. It appears as if you have to create 4 to start; but when you finally acquire the 20 material and click to create those four it switches to one and only requires 5 material. SK PS. In addition, once I get to the point where the
Hmm. I glanced through all the responses and find it hard to believe that I didn't see Babylon Five (unless I missed it). It's more or less Star Trek DS-9 on reality steroids. That is to say that it was a darker and dirtier space station than DS-9. Anyway, there are several seasons and you definitely want to watch the shows in chronological order... My two cents. SK PS. Who knew Melissa Gilbert would grow into such a hot looking woman...
Hmm. eight replies and no one has been able to answer your question (or simply forgot to do so). Unfortunately, this is number nine and I don't have an answer for you either; as I'm not familiar with the game. I do regret selling my Commodore 128D and the Hard Drive I had for it. Every time I go to the Casino (for the all you can eat seafood buffet; not to gamble), I pass the Arctic Fox slot machine and remember the Arctic Fox tank game I used to play on the Commodore.
Hmm, almost an entire month and I'm the first to respond. How strange. My favorite Stock race would have to be the Yor. I like their style of ships andthat the enemy movement within their sphere(s) of influence is reduced to a crawl. My least favorite is the Torians; as they breed like rodents and tend to over run the galaxy (except when I try to play as them). I know you were probably looking for a bit more pomp and circumstance; but it's mid afterno
My recommendation for this forum is that we remember that true realism isn't realistic. So we should try and limit our suggestions to minor game play improvements and even bug fixes.
True realism may not be realistic, but there is logical vs. illogical. It seems illogical to me to start off with a Flagship that I have no way to reproduce. It's also not logical to start off with a colony ship before I've determined where to send it.&nbs
My wife doesn't (or didn't), but then she uses two seperate computers at her office... So, you would think she should. I'm surprised that someone hasn't already written a utility (similar to the Galactopedia) that would allow us to select and access our data in a second screen (even if read only). SK
Thanks. SK
I'll always be "Pro-Choice", so you won't hear me complaining if tactics are implemented provided there is a choice to turn them off. I do, however, miss the ability to subdue and board an enemy ship rather than simply destroying it. At least let me sift through the rubble after the battle is over and gather whatever intelligence, compnonent(s) and or new technologies that might be there to be found. Then again, maybe my attack isn't an attack at all. Perhaps I'm j
I have a feeling that the storyline in GalCiv 3 may be going somewhere with the Krynn, but we'll just have to wait and see.
I can only hope that Gal Civ III turns out to be a totally different galaxy with a story line all it's own. If one is simply going to continue the current one, then simply make a new expansion... As for the Krynn, I have yet to play them; but I think I'll give them some thought.
I'd like to see an option that allows you to offset the start date of your opponents. This wouldn't necessarily be in a Scenario setting; it'd probably be in the Race setup section (as that is the most logical place to put it). Anyway, for example: you could start your less intelligent race(s) out ahead of yourself and your more intelligent one(s) afterwards (or whatever you choose). I realize it's not quite in keeping with the story line; but then I kind of like to begi
