Ok - so... influence ones should be built in spaces where you want to influence other planets, or gain influence in "empty" or "unclaimed" space... military should be built perhaps around your planets so you can defend better on attacks? or maybe even built near an enemy location that you plan on attacking... economic should be built in the area of a planet that perhaps has a high economic gain to further improve it... or built near trade routes? and mining ba

Human sucks, you get no free bonuses and have no stellar cartography Does that really matter? You can research that in a turn or two... You're not that far behind...

What's the name you're saving it as? You can only have one ship type with each name - if you're trying to name your new ship the same as a core model then it will not let you.

Is there a way to make a custom scenario? I like the gods of war option because of the researched tech. however, I'd like to be able to pick my race and number of opponents still... which you can't do for some reason.

Oh yeah - and research? Is it generally best to concentrate on a main goal, and go with that? Like... decide I want to be a military power... so I build up weapons and armor... Or is it best to spread it all out and get as much as I can? Like research the cheapest techs there are and just do more expensive ones when I need to? That's one problem I've had. I never really know how to go about the chart. I'm not quite sure what sort of path to take.

I'm sort of used to Warcraft type games where you build as much as you can, as quickly as you can, and kill the enemy. However - that doesn't seem logical in this game. First of all because you need to research a bunch to get transports to be able to actually attack a planet and take it over. I'm just wondering what the better ways to approach the game are. I generally build a bunch of colony ships and run around trying to grab as many planets as I can... then I usually try

That's wicked help - thanks a ton. Exactly what I was hoping for! That one program is also awesome! I was thinking of just working on one just like that myself, but I was hoping there already was something! Thanks a ton! I just like to know what things cost, and what I'm actually getting for researching it. The game details just aren't enough (like - a better research facility... I like to know just how much better).

I'm curious... People keep saying how this game has no piracy protection - yet, it seems it somewhat does to me. If you want to install the patch, you need to have the registered serial number and the email it was registered to. So, it does have a slight (easy to get over, yes... but still there) version of piracy protection

I just don't get it. My manual talks about some sort of flasks filling up. First of all, I don't see any flasks of any sort anywhere, let alone ones filling up. Secondly, how do I see how many points or these imaginary "flasks" it takes to research a specific technology? I opened up the tech tree file in the game folder, and it seems to show "points" - but those don't seem to apply in game. For example - Basic Logistics shows a point total of 150... I had my research at 21
