Super Explorer - All ships come with the ability to pick up anomalies, and their sensor range is far greater than usual. Super Economist - Can build galatic trade centers which not only provide a larger than normal influence and economic bonus, but also give a small morale boost as well. Furthermore, when this player's population's approval manages to stay at 100% for a set amount of time, the amount of taxes collect will increase by half. Super Politico - Can hold two politic

One thing that I would like to see has to do with old/obsolete ship components. Once we research say Laser V, whats the point of having the option of building laser IV parts on a ship? Either the cost should be lessened for older technologies, or just have them removed from the build options. If the ONLY difference is that the older ones take up more space, then why even have the option of building them. Since they are of an older technology, they should be cheaper rig
Never heard of it.
Has the comp's behavior while trading changed any?
Hey, I got a quick question: is the AI still incredibly stingy with diplomatic deals and trades (i.e. only $400 for a WHOLE PLANET or an entire tech tree's worth of stuff)) as it was in the last patch?
I wouldn't say better or worse; maybe a lateral move. a society shapped by a literal reading of Deuteronomy (Deuteronotopia, as coined in the first aired episode of Aeon Flux) would lead me to imagine a society lacking any concept of civil liberty. a literal reading of the Qur'an, by contrast, would lead me to imagine something more like the Klingon Empire - a society founded on dying in battle and conqouring foes. this is the milieu from which Islam emerged. <br/
Couple of suggestions, some based on other ideas: Twilight of the Gods For some mysterious reason, the universe appears to be dying. Each turn a random planet (populated or not) is removed from the game (or explodes into an asteroid field). Should make things a little more interesting. AWESOME idea man. You may want to increase the time between the planets blowing up, or maybe make it a random star that goes nova every month or
Precursor Wars Redux: A Mega Event in which not only do the Dreadlords return, but so does the Arnorian automated defense forces. Problem is though, the Precursor defenses will only ignore those who are considered righteous; i.e. Altarians, Torians, etc. Any other race they encounter, however, will be considered hostile and attacked, especially if they're considered to be evil (but the Dreadlords will still be the top priority for attacking). Both sides will start at a random corn
Or maybe a "rush" strat involving getting transports as early as possible an taking their less populated planets, or eliminating the population of heavily colonized worlds by... no wait, the Korath already do that with spore ships
Iam bit tired of these "look how well our game is doing" front page PR hypes, but what do I know about marketing I could not give rats ass what some review sites think about the game, the real truth comes out in form of user postings @ forums. Also seeing how these review sites give so easily "perfect"
I've played C&C3, and I gotta admit, it's actually pretty good! Sure, most of the battles revolve around spamming tanks and building crazy fast, but it's actually pretty damn fun once you get the feeling of it! Hell, even most of the review sites seem to agree: they've all given the game some pretty high praise and all, so that's most definately a good sign!
This happens to me all the time, even when I'm playing a non-metaverse large map. And it's definately not a graphics or memory issue, cause I got around 1.25 gigs of RAM...
Phasors and photonic torps are FAR more powerful (and environmentally friendly) than nukes.
Actually, I've seen the Altarians score a Lucky Ranger on a planet near my territory very early on in the game. I think it had only been a year or so after staring the map, so as you can imagine, my weapons were still kinda low-end and they ended up declaring war on me due to my alignment a few turns later, so I wouldn't exactly say that the "Ship Finding" event isn't dangerous...
Thanks for the tip! I always wanted to make a race with uber military and social production capabilites! BTW, speaking of the custom races, they should make the game so that the custom opponents you design have unlimited ability and tech points, so that way you can go against a set of Dread Lord-like opponents if you wish. BTW again (LOL!), do you know how to modify the starting tech poi
I one time managed to trade Advanced Aquatic Colonization in exchange for Advanced Barren Colonization, at no extra cost. Not sure why it was that easy that one time, but it worked!
Thing is though, once the other races realize what you're doing, they may try to band together to stop you before you acquire the technology victory, so it's not exactly all smooth sailing.
The Hi-Res mod that Logic Sequence made seems to have a major effect for some reason or another. Before I used it, special tiles were pretty much on every third planet I had; but now in my latest game, only 6 planets in my entire (original) empire's territory had ANY improvements at all!
I'd like to see an "Intergalactic Fleet Manager." Think of it as a galactic wonder that allows you to keep fleets over planets just like the Orbital Fleet Manager does, only this one is applied to ALL of your planets after being built. BTW, sorry if this idea got suggested earlier... thing is, four pages of responses is a lot to read through, so I had to skim some answers!
Keep pumpin out expansions and updates to DL and DA wont need any ohter games as far as i'm concerned True Dat!
Next year The Political Machine 2008 and then after that, a fantasy strategy game is in the works. You know, it would be really frickin sweet if you could combine GalCiv with a little of the stuff from the "Political Machine" and it's style of politics. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.
The only way that this is going to work is if everyone starts using some type of map standard (i.e. large map, common everything, average research speed, all victory conditions on just to see if any race excels at some types of conditions, etc.) in order to make this survey work. Otherwise, the results are going to be skewred as hell. Not so much skewed as totally random, which is kind of a result in itself. The implication is th

Actually, the Torians can be a colonizing powerhouse, as well as an economical giant if used properly. Just ask Mumblefratz for his strats and you'll see why REAL fast. And the Iconians, for the most part, are perfectly balanced - they really don't have any true strengths or weaknesses. That, and they have an INSANE +50 espionage ability, so they're not totally helpless! Can't say much about the Altarians, though. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Hmm.gif"
Then how come we have the option to set their parties??? Good one. BTW, just to throw some idears around, why not make it that you can choose as many techs and ability points as you wish when designing CPU opponents? That way ,if you ever want to go against some race with a crazy military and speed ability along with, say, Ion Drive, you can! It's pretty unbalanced, I know, but it would be fun as hell! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2
