I play with max number of bots with the difficulty set to cripply, I believe (one of the higher difficulties). As I said, I experience this with DA and not DL.Also, is there a memory problem with DA? It FEELS like it's using a lot of memory on my computer(How do I check the use?). Open a saved game that runs slow...tab back to windows and open your task manager( crtl-alt-delete) that will tell you how much ram+pagefile you have plus how much your using,
for one thing your system doesn't meet the requirements of the game...you lack ram and have a poor onboard video card. plus your drivers are ancient which seems to be the biggest problem.
That said, I never have more than five players in a CPU skirmish including me. When everything gets built up there is definite lag, and the game clock almost runs at half-speed. Queuing things up works fine but sometimes it seems to miss my clicks, and units will start to respond to orders in a slow, haphazard manner. That's when there's just way too many units in the game and I'm playing against several CPU opponents however. For just that reason i upgr
For Socket 939: AMD Athlon 64FX and Athlon 64 processors If your going AMD get a socket AM2.
anything that supports: SLI/crossfire, DDR2 Ram, and most preferably has the newest intel socket, wish i had one but i'm stuck with a AMD 939.
dont get me wrong before the AI had no clue...but now they won't give up anything. can't we just find a happy medium.
Sure. Since the new trading rules I have posted 7 suicidal wins on the metaverse. Most of them with tech trading on. Now I didn't get any tech with it on, but I gave away tech to manipulate the enemies and start wars... there is still plenty you can do to try and control the enemy. I understand what your saying, but to me the trading rules makes the game one dimensional, plus I have no techs to prusade anyone with or a whole lot of cash for that matter,
Even those 3 things though aren't absolute. The AI is fairly good at determining when the player is just trying to swindle them. I don't i've ever seen the AI get swindled, they pretty much do all the swndling on a 10:1 ratio. ps those 3 things you mentioned don't really help, the only thing i've seen that helps is to be allied with whom ever your trading with.
i have an impossible time when trading on difficulties Crippling and up. i play as Terran and it sucks, there's a cut off point where diplomacy just doesn't do anything for you. trading is so bad, i really don't see why it is in the game. they should take it out or fix it. on lower difficulties it can be exploited. you can trade an economic treaty early in game for a couple planets & all their techs, gold, and influence points. I agree they really screw
wow, i guess 3 times is a charm...got it now.
SDC updated but still show 1.5068
didnt work
Well, I'm nto sure if this is the FOW bug or something else, but I just installed the .072 update, and the "issue" I had before didn't go away. If you look at the minimap, there's an area that's a different shade of gray from the fog of war. It extends from the middle top corner about 3/4's of teh way to the left corner, and about half way towards the right corner, and an arc to contect the two ends. I can see thru it, but it never goes away and it is kind of annoying.
The good: 1. Civilizations (all-series, this game is classic!) 2. Command and Conquer (all-series, another classic) 3. Supreme Commander (the newest RTS game very hot) 4. Diablo (all-series, one of the best action games ever) 5. Sim City (all-series, Will Wrights brain child) 6. Madden 200X (best football game on the market) 7. Grand theft Auto (What can't you do) The Bad: 1. sword of the stars (gag) 2. doom/quake/duke nukem (the same since 1999) 3. my
Also what map sizes does it affect it seems to affect all maps.
since the lastest patch, the fog of war will not disappear on three sectors from the edge of the map... very annoying!
I always turn surrendering off... makes for a more interesting game.
i was pretty sure we came to the conclusion that kyro is an AI!
1. Epic Generator 2. more flavor to the Battle Viewer, seems like all ships have retards at the helm, like to see more of a dogfight (ie attacker maybe chases down his enemy rather than flying in circles or away from the enemy) 3. This is a wish but i would still like maybe a few options in Battle, like different fleet formations that would provide a offensive or defense bounus even positive or negetive depending on the formation of the enemy. 4. *cough*deepspace carrie..*cough*
I doubt you will ever see stand alone patches, SDC is the whole point of the game not having copy protection.
there is a star trek mod for this game, you can also just take the ship files if that all your after. WWW Link
Color Chart for people with poor eyes...J/k Drath- mostly red with a pinch of brown dregin- koolaid red dread lords- blood red I've actually had something similar happen when i created 4 custom AI's I went through and spent about 1/2hr tweaking them to my liking, (Avatars, ship styles, alignment.) but wouldn't you know i forgot to change their colors AND icons! 1 year into a gigantic map madness insues!
uh... i don't like this thread mostly cause i just purchased a 8800GTS and WAS planning to upgrade to vista in about a month, sigma please post if you get your 8800gts working with vista, i'm very interested to see how long it take to fix Vista or the Nvidia drivers.
