*jaw drops to the floor* Holy sweet mother of...! I want 1.1 now. Looks like I just got even more incentive to download the beta! Here is what I don't completly understand about the change in graphics. I was talking to my friend about Sins and I was saying to him that my Framrate sometimes drops a whole lot when I play the game at the highest graphics and stuff. Now my computer doesn't just meet the recommended requirements, it beats the recommended requirements. The only thing I can

Yes I do have 1.5, but I don't have the beta patch yet. Is that open for everyone or is it a closed Beta?
This seems to happen quite often when I play. Here is what happens when I play. The effects will be going great for a while but then it will get to a point where it stops showing ship explosions, only debree is shown. When TEC and Advent bombard a planet, the explosions are not fully shown, so with the TEC a red glow will appear where their nukes hit, but no explosion. Also effects of weapon hits are not shown, so no energy discharges where a ship gets hit at. Now it will randomly fi
And if you don't have the deep space skybox option selected then that bluish cloudiness goes away and you only have black and stars right?
The only thing I wish Sins did was explained what each of these options meant, except for the basic title of the effect. My question is about the two effect options, Use Deep Space Sky Boxes and the Use Colored Skyboxes. What exactly do these do when I turn them on or off. I know that a star systems sky box, is the background you get when you zoom in on a solar system, when you zoom out the sky box turns into a starry background, but how do these options effect the skyboxes?</
Ooo! Australia! I agree with apricotslice. When playing a game online, especially an RTS, it is best to have a VERY good connection. You can deal with lag in an FPS if you know how to play with lag (having dial up for a year actually helped my gaming!) But lag in an RTS where every second is needed to continue to give orders is a death sentence. Again you might be able to deal with it with little lag, but any more I would think would probably doom your end of the battle.
To make the fighting more interesting, I zoom my camera in and rotate and move through the battle. I like finding all the different epic angles of the ships firing at each other. To tell you the truth though, most likely there won't be much movement in real space battles because of how hard it is to maneuver in space. Yes I do agree that it would be cool for the ships to move a little, but I think Ironclad did a good job of depicting what a space battle will probably look like. Note: I
Yeah I know what you mean with the worm holes. Alright, thanks for all the advice and stuff. I'll put it to good use. Thanks again guys...and gals.
*applauds* *crowds cheer in background* *Babies cry for joy* *and a tree falls in the forest...does it make a sound?* Yes! A win for tactical gamers!
yeah, for the planets, but not at the star where most enemy fleets jump in.
Well the only wormholes I have ever seen and used have only warped you to the other side of the star system you were in. I havn't played with any that have warped my to other star systems, even in my multi star matches. But as for the smaller fleets around your backyard systems, wouldn't they be too easy to get by? I mean, an enemy fleet can enter within a 45 degree angle of a stars grav well so you can't always judge the spot an enemy fleet will jump in. Too many times have my defendin
Not that it matters much, but shouldn't this thread go in the modding section of the Sins forum? ;p I guess if nobody cares then its' fine, I'm just saying. ;)
I think that it was a good idea for Ironclad to not have a campaign for Sins launch, but I am glad that the expansion will have one. I think that in this way players focused on the Mulyiplayer and could play the game without having objectives that would restrict them. In my opinion, Sins feels like a game that needs a campaign. Each race has so much lore and backstory that I think Ironclad would have cheated us if they didn't make a campaign for it (besides it would suck never knowing who is aft
I've never seen a Neutral Civ before. When I encounter one, will I know it?
Thanks for all your help. I hope this work, even though it doesn't happen that often.
Of course you don't want to make it so deep that it becomes unmanageable, but I think spying in some capacity would be a welcome addition in the expansion.
Exactly, you wouldn't want it to get so complicated that it just became a hindrance. After all this is an RTS not a TBS, and managing your empire and fleets can be a handful at times. If they made it simple and easy to use then I think that would be good.
And come on, what would be the fun if the enemy didn't have a chance? It's hard to keep everything together, but it wouldn't be very fun to just roll over somebody an hour into the game, then have to spend twice that mopping them up in their own system. This way they get a chance to make a come back and keep the game going.
I think that it would suck to just roll over an enemy in an hour. I know the title of my post sort of gives the wrong idea of what I'm talking ab
I was wondering since I'm playing a match as the Vasari and I didn't notice one. Buuut now that I have a pretty good understanding of the tech trees I don't normally read what each tech does and I just research things that I find important and then I just click on other techs when I dont have anything important to research at the moment.
Sometimes it is a bad idea to engage the capital ships first anyway. In my early games when the AI decided it had an even chance of winning I would go after the capital ships, since I thought that the capital ships were the biggest threat. I now know that it is best to attack frigates and cruisers to weaken the overal damage the enemy fleet can do and to get rid of healing abilities and other pesky, annoying things the smaller ships can do. Also it seems that the AI is more willing to continue t
Absolutely. It would make a whole lot of sense there. Could either have a flat rate, higher cost for better information or maybe even a bidding system like with pirates.
That could work, but I think the information shouldn't be permanent. Since Sins wants you to not know who is in an alliance I think that the information you pay for should be like a picture of who is allianced at that time, or it can last for a minute or 30 seconds or something and you would have to pay a
Since sooo many ppl on these forums suggest no/little defence, sending in bombers to take down colonies like khire noted is the best form of harrasment.
That's what I've always been confused about, granted I havn't played MP yet, but I would think the defense would still be important. Having little defenses means you have more money for your fleets and research, and many say that static defenses are easily skirted around. I am sure this is true in MP but to manue
Well in my case at first, the problem was that I told my ships to move too early, but then after it was completed I tried again and they did the same thing. It was weird because after I let the fleet take the long route, my fleet planet bombers jumped the short route. *shrugs* I don't know, weird. Oh and definitly anything that saves you time is worth it. I think the phase stabalizer is a key element in Vasari planet defense when you are playing a multi star game and when you control m
Oh... I got kinda confused with your openning post. Sorry for my error. But I am still partially confused, of course a scientist has to research the artifact like you said... Soooo exactly what is it or was it that you thought was pointless? I mainly want to know cause I personally couldn't figure it out, it is probably very obvious, but it keeps illuding me.
EVE has a free 14 day trial, so you can do less thinking and more trying out
Yeah I know, I actually will probably try out EVE's 14 day trial. From what I've seen it seems pretty interesting. Sadly the real game is out of empire with all the corporations and you won't get there with enough time to be emersed in all the political dealings of the corporations.
